Now they’ve reached a moment of truth: They’d better do something soon — in fact, they’d better announce a coordinated rescue plan this weekend — or the world economy may well experience its worst slump since the Great Depression.

What he should have proposed instead, many economists agree, was direct injection of capital into financial firms

The question now is whether these moves are too little, too late. I don’t think so, but it will be very alarming if this weekend rolls by without a credible announcement of a new financial rescue plan, involving not just the United States but all the major players.

And the time to act is now. You may think that things can’t get any worse — but they can, and if nothing is done in the next few days, they will.

<clipSource>http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/10/opinion/10krugman.html?_r=1&em&oref=slogin</clipSource>

Think McCain may be a bit "off" - you may be right

clipped by: dgg207

Clip Source: tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com

Why Josh Marshall is Exactly Right about McCain’s Psychology

As a clinical psychologist I have been watching John
Mccain’s behavior toward Barrack Obama with increasing concern. There have now been several small
incidents that indicate that McCain is actually having a very paranoid reaction
toward Obama, and I fear that the recent descent of the McCain campaign into
unacceptable levels of hatred may be a result. Here are the incidents that concern me:

<clipSource>http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/10/why-josh-marshall-is-exactly-r.php</clipSource>

PopUpLight-CloudCity

clipped by: dianemarie88

Clip Source: mocoloco.com

Cloud City is a new pendant lampshade by Phil Cuttance, inspired by paper folding techniques found in pop-up books. The die-cut polypropylene shade folds flat, but then takes it form when placed over a bulb. In all its 360º glory, Cloud City evokes images of a pixelated city in the clouds. Cloud City will be presented at Charles and Marie in Milan, along with the Trophy Hangers that debuted in Milan last year.

But gases do slam into gases. The faster the collision, the higher the temperature the gases reach.

In the case of M86, its gases are millions of degrees in temperature and radiate x-rays.

The new evidence of M86's collision may solve that mystery. NEW YORK (Reuters Health) -
Eating dark chocolate regularly may help lower levels of inflammation, which is strongly associated with heart and blood vessel disease, Italian researchers report.

"In an apparently healthy population, even a small reduction of a low-grade inflammation such as that associated in this study with regular consumption of dark chocolate might have clinically relevant benefits in the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease," Dr. Romina di Giuseppe of Catholic University in Campobasso write in the current issue of The Journal of Nutrition.

The benefits were seen when people ate up to one 20-gram serving of dark chocolate every 3 days, but eating more chocolate wasn't more beneficial; in fact, effects on CRP levels "tended to disappear" at higher consumption levels, the researchers found.

Tags: nutrition, heart health, diet, chocolate, dark chocolate

<clipSource>http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081008/hl_nm/us_dark_chocolate</clipSource>

Malcolm in the Middle

clipped by: angelina82

Clip Source: www.smh.com.au

Australians will treat a political chameleon with short shrift, as Turnbull may

But the theory does not capture the fine, quantum structure of spacetime, which limits how tightly matter can be concentrated and how strong gravity can become. To figure out what really happened, physicists need a quantum theory of gravity.

According to one candidate for such a theory, loop quantum gravity, space is subdivided into “atoms” of volume and has a finite capacity to store matter and energy, thereby preventing true singularities from existing.

If so, time may have extended before the bang. The prebang universe may have undergone a catastrophic implosion that reached a point of maximum density and then reversed. In short, a big crunch may have led to a big bounce and then to the big bang.

<clipSource>http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=big-bang-or-big-bounce&sc=WR_20081007</clipSource>

Gmail Goggles

clipped by: goofball-tigger

Clip Source: www.labnol.org

Gmail Goggles: No More Drunk Emailing on Friday Nights

Gmail Labs today released an interesting feature to prevent you from sending mails that may you may regret later. With literally thousands of miles of coastline dotted with beaches and fringed with forest and bushland, it’s not surprising then that the Australians have some of the most spectacular homes you’re ever likely to see.

Tags: interesting, design, off-beat, greenliving, ecosystems

<clipSource>http://www.nubricks.com/archives/1158/7-annoyingly-awesome-australian-homes/#comment-41542</clipSource>

http://www.herbal-pills-for-weight-loss.com/

clipped by: richijonson
clipper's remarks: Hoodia Gardonii Diet Pills

Clip Source: hoodiagardoniidietpills.wordpress.com

Hoodia Gardonii Diet Pills

As we know there is Seven Wonders of the World.
