Man's 'sex with octopus' images

A MAN whose self-esteem is so low he identifies himself as a beast has admitted to downloading images showing sexual acts with an octopus.

Rodney Scott McLagan, 48, of South Arm, Tasmania, was caught with 31,000 images and video files involving sexual acts with children, dogs, ponies, snakes, tigers and an octopus.

The office equipment worker, whose job involves deleting computer hard drives, pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court in Hobart today to possessing child exploitation material and bestiality products.

Crown prosecutor Jane Williams said police found the material on computers and discs discovered during a search of his home on January 6 last year.

She said the children in the images were both sexes and aged between five and 15.

Electrified VW Is 'Liberating' For Boulder Man

A Colorado man says he has ended his addiction to foreign oil by converting an old Volkswagon Beetle to run on electricity.

"Its a feeling of liberation," says Marty Geist.

The charged-up bug is his only car and has a limited range of just 60 miles, but the Boulder resident takes delight in never having to stop at gas stations, where prices have jumped to record levels.

Using a book titled "How To Convert To An Electric Car" and a small inheritance, Geist paid for and completed the conversion in about 6 months.

His electric vehicle used to be a gas powered, 40 horsepower VW bug, built in 1966. Prior to conversion, it delivered about 25 miles per gallon.

Geist now figures the same car can travel nearly three times as far on $4, the current price for a gallon of regular unleaded.

Besides passing up the gas pumps, converting to electric means eliminating oil changes and tune-ups.

APPLETON, Wisc. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A couple telephoned police in the middle of the night after finding a man in their basement covered head to toe in barbecue sauce.

"He told the officers that it was urban camouflage," said the homeowner.

This happened in Wisconsin.

The homeowners say they woke up to whistling sounds.

The husband grabbed his shotgun and headed toward the basement where he found the sauced-up intruder.

He held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

The guy told officers he covered himself in barbecue sauce because he wanted to hide from the government.

He now faces burglary charges.

BUCHAREST, Romania - A court has ordered a Romanian surgeon to pay $795,000 in compensation to a patient whose penis he accidentally severed during an operation.

In July 2004, Dr. Naum Ciomu made a surgical error while operating on the man's testicles, severing the penis instead of making an incision to the testicle.

The Bucharest Magistrates Court ruled Friday that Ciomu had been "superficial" in his approach to the operation, ordered the fine and handed Ciomu a one-year suspended prison sentence. The ruling can be appealed.

A piece of muscle from the man's arm has now been attached to where his penis was, but its function is aesthetic.

"You don't have to be an expert to realize that the 33-year-old victim does not have a good state of mind," said Mihai Olariu, the victim's lawyer.

US 'pregnant man' has baby girl

Thomas Beatie, 34, is legally male but kept his female reproductive organs after having breast surgery to remove glands and flatten his chest.

Mr Beatie, who sports a wispy beard, made headlines around the world when he revealed in April that he was pregnant.

"I opted not to do anything with my reproductive organs because I wanted to have a child one day," he said.

Mr Beatie grew up in Hawaii as Tracy Lagondin and was a Girl Scout, model and finalist in a teenage beauty pageant.

He has been married for five years to wife Nancy.

"This baby is totally healthy. This is what I consider a normal pregnancy."

Chickenhawk Smears Clark;Tries to Speak for Military

clipper's remarks: But the fact that CNN had this kid on to talk about things for which he has no understanding wasn't the only thing that was disturbing. I love how it's totally unacceptable to give anything other than glowing reviews of John McCain's military experience in Media World, while it's okay to slander General Clark's military service.

After Ferguson said that Clark had "ticked off everyone in the military," he went on to say that John McCain had "been in actual war zones while Wesley Clark was sitting in an air-conditioned room, telling people what to do with NATO."

Ben needs to brush up on his talking points, because Clark was actually shot four times in Vietnam, and left the country on a stretcher. Most people would consider that having been in an "actual war zone." And to be honest, the next person to debate this kid on TV should ask for an apology--or just ask him what he has against wounded Vietnam veterans.

I just got done watching the clip below with a couple of Army buddies. We thought it was pretty funny how the doughy chickenhawk kid--Ben Ferguson--felt he was entitled to speak on behalf of the military. Non-serving, tough talkers like Ferguson are endlessly entertaining to us.

FERGUSON: You have a man that was shot down, stayed in captivity as a POW for five years and your guy--if you want to talk about experience--had 147 days in the Senate before he decided he wanted to be President of the United States of America. So it's pretty dumb for Wesley Clark to go out there and yes, it ticked off everyone in the military because this man--I mean, I'm sorry, being shot down, to say that doesn't qualify you to be President-this man has been around war, been in actual war zones while Wesley Clark was sitting in an air-conditioned room, telling people what to do with NATO, so I don't know if he's exactly the right guy to go out there.

Man robs, then hugs, victim in Poplar Bluff

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (AP) -- Police in the southeast Missouri town of Poplar Bluff are looking for the gunman who robbed a man at gunpoint, then gave him a hug before fleeing.

The crime happened Monday night in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store. The victim, 31-year-old Heath Chandler of Naylor, told police he was walking toward the store when a man approached and put a semiautomatic gun to his stomach.

The assailant demanded money. Chandler gave him the $25 he had. The man then took Chandler to a Jeep Cherokee driven by a woman. There, he gave the victim a hug before fleeing in the Cherokee.

Detectives are studying Wal-Mart videotape as part of the search for the suspect.

Jonathan Wicks was charged with racially abusing three white security guards

A white man has been prosecuted for racially abusing three white security guards.

Jonathan Wicks was taken to court for calling the men 'honky wannabe cops'.

Wicks, 20, has had to attend court at least five times, at an estimated cost to the taxpayer of more than £5,000.

He was on a night out with friends in Reading last September when the incident happened.

He said: 'I was outside the Oracle Shopping Centre and as a joke started pushing and rattling one of the bicycles that was locked up outside, as I'd had a few drinks.

'The security guards told me to move on and that's when I made the comment - I didn't think about it, I just said it as a joke.

'It was in jest, but they took it very seriously. They restrained me and called the police.'

Mr Wicks called white security guards at The Oracle shopping centre in Reading, above, 'honky wannabe cops'
