Angry Muslims stop filming of Ayaan movie

The filming of the life of Ayaan Hirsi Ali in Kenya has been stopped after unrest in the African country. Parts of the script in which Islam is criticized were leaked.

Commissioned by the Dutch broadcaster VPRO, IDTV is working on a biography about a Somali woman whose life closely resembles that of former politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali. A quote from the script was published in the Muslim magazine The Friday Bulletin [pdf]. In this scene “Ayaan” strikes her mother around the ears with a Koran and exclaims that she will wipe her behind with it.

Imams responded angrily and said that they perceive the filming as an insult to all Kenyan Muslims.

the Kenyan casting agency that IDTV had involved, does not want to cooperate [pdf] any further on the film after all the criticism. The film production company does not know how to proceed with the project, a spokesman said. The company in any case will not return to Kenya.

The future of Aerosmith is shrouded in uncertainty after unconfirmed reports that flamboyant frontman Steven Tyler has quit the band.

Tyler, 61, indicated he was parting company with the band in a recent interview with British music magazine Classic Rock.

"I don't know what I'm doing yet," he was quoted as saying.

"But it's definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself - Brand Tyler."

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry told the Las Vegas Sun newspaper in an interview that Tyler had left the band after a recent concert in Abu Dhabi.

"Steven quit as far as I can tell," he said.

"I don't know anymore than you do about it."

Perry said Tyler had "had no contact with me or the other band members" over the issue and attempts to contact the singer had been unsuccessful.

The development comes after a troubled year for Aerosmith.

Perry said he suspected the singer had been planning to quit "for a long time".

For many women, a $1,000 dress is something they admire in the pages of a glossy magazine or see draped on the frame of a celebrity — not an item hanging in their closet.

Through the mail-order service from Jennifer Hyman, above left, and Jennifer Carter Fleiss, a four-night dress rental costs $50 to $200.

But a nascent Web site called Rent the Runway is hoping to make high-end fashions much more accessible and almost as easy as renting a movie from Netflix.

The mail-order service, which finishes the testing phase on Monday, allows women to rent dresses from notable fashion designers like Diane Von Furstenberg, Hervé Léger and Proenza Schouler for roughly one-tenth of what they would cost to buy in a retail store.

The rentals run $50 to $200 for a four-night loan and are shipped directly to the customer’s doorstep. After wearing the dress,

Time Magazine reporter Tim McGirk has posited the theory that Nidal Hasan --- who attended a radical mosque with the 9-11 hijackers, told colleagues that infidels should have their throats cut, and screamed "Allahu Akbar" as he killed 13 people --- was suffering from "secondary trauma," a sort of "contact PTSD," where hearing stories from combat soldiers who suffered from PTSD drove him to commit mass murder. BTW, here's yet another clue the MSM will ignore. Hasan's business card contains the notation "SoA" meaning "Soldier of Allah." Will they still claim this guy just needed a vacation?

Your body is probably home to a chemical called bisphenol A, or BPA. It’s a synthetic estrogen that United States factories now use in everything from plastics to epoxies — to the tune of six pounds per American per year. That’s a lot of estrogen.

More than 92 percent of Americans have BPA in their urine, and scientists have linked it — though not conclusively — to everything from breast cancer to obesity, from attention deficit disorder to genital abnormalities in boys and girls alike.

Consumer Reports magazine tested an array of brand-name canned foods for a report in its December issue and found BPA in almost all of them.

The BPA in the food probably came from an interior coating used in many cans.
