he reading list has three components.

First, the main journals in the field. Students should familiarize themselves with important articles and debates, as they appear in the most prominent IR journals over the past four or five years.

Second, a selected list of each IR faculty member's own works. I have also included Alex Wendt's work on this faculty list since many current students have studied with him.

Finally, a general list of books and articles to read in three main areas: IR theory, security, and international political economy (excluding works by UC faculty and recent journal articles, since those are already covered in items I and II). These three sections parallel the three sections of the exam, on theory, security, and IPE.

Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products & Web Sites

Those who have followed the development of this page since 2004 will have noted that the list of "rogue/suspect" anti-spyware products has not been updated since May 2007. Unfortunately, other time commitments have precluded our efforts to keep that list up to date. Since the last update dozens of "new" rogue anti-spyware programs have hit the 'Net. The vast majority of them, however, are not really new, but are simply re-branded clones and knockoffs of the same rogue applications that have been around from years. In most cases, they are being pushed through the same deceptive practices by the same parties responsible for earlier versions. See in particular these "families" of anti-spyware products, which continue to live on through shameless re-branding: 15, 18, 19, 21, 22, & 23.

clipper's remarks: I like to think I have an honourary degree in superherology.-- Also, in case JanisJoplin has better things to do today, I'd like to point out that these courses are blatantly sexist, obviously created by men with the express purpose of thwarting the woman race. We should have a course on super heroines for the girls, too. Or a course on Joan Jett, so the college girls can rock out with their cocks out. Unless said girls have no cocks, which of course means I clearly meant 'rock out with their vaginas out.' It's not like I've been enrolled in the Cybersex course and have been "cataloguing" shemale schoolgirl sites. No, sir.

The course is supposedly an examination of stupidity "... ranging from the presidency to Beevis (sic) and Butthead (sic)." They don't name the president but we're going to guess it's not Lincoln. Also, right away we're doubting the quality of a course that wants to teach you about stupidity but manages to spell Beavis and Butt-Head wrong. These guys may know stupidity, but apparently they don't know Google.

The description slaps together a bunch of absurd academic jargon to try to legitimize the whole operation, with phrases like "Stupidity is neither ignorance nor organicity, but rather, a corollary of knowing..." or our other favorite, "Stupidity is always the name of the Other, and it is the sign of the feminine." Is there some kind of college course random word generator they use for these things?

Occidental College is a liberal arts college in LA. The Princeton Review has it on its list of The Best 361 Colleges, otherwise known as The List of All the Colleges in the U.S.

US blacklists 15 Kuwaitis for holding fake academic certs

KUWAIT CITY: The US Justice Department reportedly blacklisted 10,000 persons of various nationalities, including 15 Kuwaitis, for holding fake academic certificates, which were allegedly bought from unrecognized and non-accredited American institutions, reports Al-Rai daily. The revelation was made online by a US-based newspaper website called spokesmanreview.com. The list indicated that at least two of the accused Kuwaitis were fake PhD holders, four had fake masters’ degrees and nine others obtained fake bachelors’ degrees in various disciplines.

Moreover, 69 Saudis, 68 UAE citizens, 13 Omanis, 12 Bahrainis and four Qataris were listed on the scandalous list. As many as 13 Egyptians, 14 Lebanese and two each from Yemen, Syria and Sudan were also included in the fake degree-holders list.

James Robinson is a retired Air National Guard brigadier general and a commercial pilot for a major airline who flies passenger planes around the country.

He has even been certified by the Transportation Security Administration to carry a weapon into the cockpit as part of the government's defense program should a terrorist try to commandeer a plane.

But there's one problem: James Robinson, the pilot, has difficulty even getting to his plane because his name is on the government's terrorist "watch list."

"Shocking's a good word; frustrating," Robinson -- the pilot -- said. "I'm carrying a weapon, flying a multimillion-dollar jet with passengers, but I'm still screened as, you know, on the terrorist watch list."

"There's going to come a point in time where everybody's on the list," Robinson said.

BELLINGHAM - The state Department of Licensing is looking into whether a local geophysics firm's vice president did engineering work that requires a license he does not hold.

Matthew C. Ringstad claimed an educational background he doesn't have from at least one college and also appears on a list of people who may have purchased a fake degree from a diploma mill in Spokane. He used his work e-mail address at Apollo Geophysics to communicate with the diploma mill, according to a reporter at the Spokane Spokesman-Review, which initially released the federal government's list of more than 9,800 people who may have purchased fake degrees.
