John McCain (R-AZ) declared that he “still” believes that “the fundamentals of the economy are strong.” Since then, McCain’s handling of the crisis has at times appeared incoherent — such as flip-flopping on his support of regulation and claiming he would have fired chairman of the SEC, which the president do

Even McCain’s top surrogate Sen. Is this the temperament you want for commander in chief of the most powerful military force in the world? Is this the kind of person you want to be negotiating with the likes of China, Russia, Iran and Saudi Arabia? Is this the kind of person you want to solidify relationships with allies? I used to think I could possibly vote for McCain. Obama seemed too full of fluff. Obama has not gained much in the way of substance. But I simply can't vote for McCain any more.

Clip Source: themoderatevoice.com

His anger is now showing up in MANY SETTINGS. It isnot just a matter of the debate. McCain was angry and testy with the De Moines Register editorial board. Even WORSE, there are now many news and blog accounts of how when Obama extended his hand to McCain in the Senate yesterday, McCain could barely contain his ire enough to take it.

He walked over to where McCain was chatting with Republican Sen. This is why she is McCain's running mate, as she bows to the neocon-Israeli agenda.

Seriously, for those who defend her no matter what she does or says, blindly, what do you think of this statement which smacks of blatant flattery? You must conclude that she either (1) was mistaken in what she said (i.e. "she did not really mean that"), so she is unable to speak intelligently, or (2) she does mean it and therefore puts American and Alaska interests under that of the state called Israel and its militant Zionist agenda.

Clearly she was trying to flatter and impress Peres, which is of course a form of lying for personal benefit, and not very Christian. Truly Palin is "AIPAC approved" and is a sycophant of the neocon agenda that McCain (and Lieberman) push. TRUSTWORTHINESS is something that has been lacking in Washington, and it appears that Palin is no "reformer" in that regard.

(Again, not claiming that Obama is worthy either. He is not).

Clip Source: www.nysun.com

Palin: 'Only Flag in My Office' Is Israeli

PALIN: 'ONLY FLAG IN MY OFFICE' IS ISRAELI

President Peres of Israel yesterday met for the first time with Governor Palin and with Senator McCain, who called the veteran Israeli statesman "my old friend." The warm handshake and exchange of broad smiles occurred during an international gathering known as the Clinton Global Initiative, hosted by President Clinton. "I wanted to meet you for many years," Ms. Palin told Mr. Peres, according to an aide to the president. "The only flag at my office is an Israeli flag," she was quoted as saying, "and I want you to know and I want Israelis to know that I am a friend."

Tags: sarah palin, israel, mccain, neoconservatives, zionism

<clipSource>http://www.nysun.com/national/palin-only-flag-in-my-office-is-israeli/86671</clipSource>

McCain Surrogate: 'You Can't Phone Something Like This In'

clipped by: Wisco
clipper's remarks: I'm not sure Lindsey's been paying attention. We can’t afford any more of that.

<clipSource>http://warner.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/25/poor-sarah/?em</clipSource>

NRA - unashamed liar of the week

clipped by: masbury
clipper's remarks: Media call ad campaign "intentionally dishonest" - and uses many of the same phrases used in ads against McCain just a few years ago.

Clip Source: www.huffingtonpost.com

observers characterized this ad campaign as "a huge stretch" (The Washington Post), "misleading" (CNN), and one that "distorts Obama's position on gun control beyond recognition" (FactCheck.org)

Congressional Quarterly and The St. Petersburg Times also recently gave the NRA their "Pants On Fire" award for being "not just misleading, [but] intentionally dishonest

they used nearly the same deceptive vitriol on Sen. President Obama, with Vice President Palin? President Biden? President Pelosi? Call them the "Doomsday" scenarios -- On Nov. 5, the presidential election winds up in a electoral-college tie, 269-269, the Democrat-controlled House picks Sen. Barack Obama as president, but the Senate, with former Democrat Joe Lieberman voting with Republicans, deadlocks at 50-50, so Vice President Dick Cheney steps in to break the tie to make Republican Sarah Palin his successor.

The packaging looks exactly the same. They are selling an inferior product and they’re not even telling anyone.

Do you feel betrayed yet?

In a statement, Hershey’s told TODAY that consumers love its products and all its candies are clearly labeled. It still offers real milk chocolate in Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and its classic chocolate bar.

Most corporations deal with increasing cost by raising their prices, Hershey's substituted inferior ingredients and tried to slip it past us.

Buyer beware!

Clip Source: www.msnbc.msn.com

Apparently not in some Hershey’s products that contained milk chocolate for years, and that has passionate chocolate aficionados fighting mad.

Products such as Whatchamacallit, Milk Duds, Mr. Goodbar and Krackel no longer have milk chocolate coatings, and Hershey’s Kissables are now labeled “chocolate candy” instead of “milk chocolate.”

What’s going on here? On Friday, TODAY consumer correspondent Janice Lieberman reported that Hershey’s has switched to less expensive ingredients in several of its products. In particular, cocoa butter — the ingredient famous for giving chocolate its creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture — has been replaced with vegetable oil.

The removal of cocoa butter violates the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s definition of milk chocolate, so subtle changes have appeared on the labels of the Hershey’s products with altered recipes. Products once labeled “milk chocolate” now say “chocolate candy,” “made with chocolate” or “chocolatey.”

Tags: deceptive advertising, fda

<clipSource>http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26788143/</clipSource>

McCain moves ahead in electoral projections

clipped by: daltonsbriefs
clipper's remarks: After a month of positive movement in polls, electoral projections now who McCain moving ahead in electoral projections. Now Democrat Lynn Forester de Rothschild has publicly endorsed McCain.

Perhaps what is so remarkable about this endorsement is the fact she is a member of the DNC Platform Committee and was an ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton.

"In an election as important at this, we must choose the candidate who has a proven record of bipartisanship and reforming government, and that's John McCain. We can't afford a president who lacks experience and judgment and has never crossed party lines to work for meaningful reform. Amid tough economic times and foreign policy concerns, we need someone who is ready to lead. Although I am a Democrat, I recognize that it's more important to put country ahead of party and that's why I support John McCain."

First, it won't work. Those videos will quickly pop back up on other sites that won't take them down. Second, most of those videos are preaching to the choir. It's unlikely that very many people are being recruited to the terrorists' causes by a grainy video on YouTube. Third, letting terrorists post their videos to a mainstream site like YouTube should help authorities figure out who's posting the videos and where they're coming from. Fourth, and most important, one of the key founding principles of this country is the right to free speech, no matter how much one might disagree with that speech. But, part of that principle is that it allows people to respond. So, yes, the videos may be pure propaganda, but there's no reason that people can't respond to the videos and show why they're propaganda and wrong. Confronting your critics is a reasonable stance. Demanding tha

Clip Source: techdirt.com

Google has now caved to Sen. Lieberman, and will now ban terrorist videos on YouTube. The article says that YouTube's new terms of service will ban footage that "advertises" terrorism or "extremist causes," which seems pretty broad, and certainly open to abuse. The article describes some videos that show how to commit violent acts -- but those were already banned by YouTube, so that's rather misleading. These new terms are more disturbing. It's not going to stop the videos, it's just going to make it harder to keep track of them, harder to counter them -- all while making the terrorists feel more legitimate.

Terrorists should be tracked down and stopped -- absolutely. But we should be dealing with the actual problem of terrorists, not some videos they made.

<clipSource>http://techdirt.com/articles/20080912/1540472258.shtml</clipSource>

Ayoon wa Azan (A Loudmouth from the Extreme Right)

clipped by: zasel
clipper's remarks: From a wonderful Web site, Watching America, I found this column from Al Hayat, translated from Arabic, I believe, all about Coulter and Lieberman. She is a loudmouth from the US extreme right, whose profession became to attack every other party. After the September 11 attacks, she focused her venom on Islam and Muslims. She recently added to the list the US presidential candidate whom she insists on calling B. Hussein Obama, to put his middle name in the spotlight.

Coulter caught my eye after the infamous terror attacks, when she said that the US must "[…] invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." In her fourth book (2004), named "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter," she says: "I get asked a lot if I still think that we should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. My answer: yes and more than ever."

I pause here to mention Senator Joe Lieberman.
