Police with bullhorns plan to go street to street with a tough message about getting out ahead of Hurricane Gustav: This time there will be no shelter of last resort. The doors to the Superdome will be locked. Those who stay will be on their own.

Authorities issued the warning Friday as new forecasts made it increasingly clear that New Orleans will get some kind of hit — direct or indirect — as early as Monday.

And those among New Orleans' 310,000 residents who ignore orders to leave accept "all responsibility for themselves and their loved ones," said the city's emergency preparedness director, Jerry Sneed.

In an effort to keep track of where people go after they leave the city, officials plan to give evacuees bar-coded bracelets containing their ID.

LOS ANGELES—A woman wearing a T-shirt promoting lesbianism said she was forced the leave a federal building Monday by a security guard who didn't approve of her att

Lapriss Gilbert said she was picking up a Social Security card for her son when the guard was offended by her "lesbian.com" shirt and threatened her with arrest.

The guard, whose name was not immediately available, works for Paragon Security, which contracts with the Department of Homeland Security.

Lori Haley, a spokeswoman within the Homeland Security Department, said the guard's actions were inappropriate and unacceptable.

"As an African-American and a lesbian, I haven't been through one day without facing some sort of discrimination," Gilbert said.

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the
domestic problems that plague this country.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not
replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of
incompetence and irresponsibility.

I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable
directly to those 545 people.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Hey - the key trick for balancing the chillies in vodka is honey. Yes, honey.

If you take 3 - 4 small (birds eye) red chillies, add a couple of tablespoonfulls of clear honey and cover it with a litre of vodka, then leave for at least couple of months shaking occasionally. NBC, the Pickens Plan, and the Army

On Wednesday the Pickens Plan Army engaged in a battle against NBC.

The network had refused to run our 15-second ad talking about how Iran–IRAN–is moving quickly to CNG-powered vehicles so they can free up their oil to sell it to us at $120 per barrel.

Guess what: We won the battle!

By Wednesday evening, NBC had re-examined its position and told us they WOULD allow our ad to run in its original form.

Congratulations, Army! You did it!

Individual Health Insurance -- Case Study 1

The question has been raised several times, is it cheaper for me to get an individual policy and cancel my group policy. The answer is a bit convoluted and may sound like I am dodging the question, but here goes. In some cases it is better to seperate from the group and get an individual policy. Such cases where the group has an "overpriced" policy and is passing on the spending to you the employee, or if your spouse is really expensive. This only works if you are in fairly good health and don't go to the doctor at the first sign of a sniffle.

Another good reason to leave a group policy, is to get into an HSA if the group isn't participating in one already. An HSA will help you save for medical expenses in the future.

I must warn you though, that once you leave group coverage, you most likely won't be able to re-enroll until the next open enrollment period.

Thieves left money instead of taking car

A Brazilian woman says car thieves left her money instead of taking her car when they realised its poor condition.

Flavia Alcantara from Belo Horizonte, had left a note on the windscreen warning thieves that the car was not worth stealing.

Her note read: "Mr Robber, please do not steal this car. It has no batteries, no spare tyre. It is in bad shape. Thank you for your attention."

Mrs Alcantara says someone later tried to steal the car but ended up leaving it - along with a one reai banknote, worth the equivalent of 40p.

"The robber must have felt sorry for me," she told Terra Noticias Populares..

"I put the note to attract the robbers' attention. I wanted to stop them taking a car which wasn't worth stealing anyway."
