But as a new report documents, much of the major U.S. media coverage of the Berlin Wall, and the subsequent downfall of Soviet communism, failed to accurately report the brutal nature of communism and often tipped in favor of the oppressors.

“Communism was a blight on humanity for much of the 20th century. Even Hitler's Holocaust pales next to the 100 million people killed by communist dictators in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Yet our report shows many in the liberal media had a blind spot to this evil ideology,” said Rich Noyes, lead author of the report, “Better Off Red?

October 27, 2009

Today’s hearing in the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere of the House of Representatives, titled “Iran in the Western Hemisphere,” featured a number of unfounded allegations against Venezuela by several congressmen, including the chairman of the committee, Rep. Elliott Engel (D—NY). In particular, Mr. Engel’s opening statement today harkened back to the time of the Monroe Doctrine, when the U.S. considered Latin America to be its “backyard” and countries of the region were not allowed to set their own foreign policies.

Venezuela strongly reserves the right to establish and maintain relations with any country in the world, whether or not that country agrees with the U.S. Venezuela’s foreign policy is made with our national interests in mind and with a view towards establishing a multi-polar world.

Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the US / October 27, 2009

<clipSource>http://www.embavenez-us.org/news.php?nid=5211</clipSource>

China wants to put a Lien on the US Treasury

clipped by: leevardi
clipper's remarks: ...but they'll have to stand in line

Clip Source: www.rumormillnews.com

CHINA WANTS TO LIEN TREASURY!? In Mexico, unions are powerful because of the power they enjoy to disrupt daily life for ordinary people, who just want to get to work and home again and be safe. Governments have been too pusillanimous to intervene to stop their illegal blockage of public spaces. How about installing a biodigester to power your computer - pass the beans please? Grin. It really is tried a true way to produce electricity but not usually one household at a time. In India and China folks bring their waste to a communal digester that gives them all some needed cheap electricity from burning methane or just gas for the stove.

Clip Source: www.ipsnews.net

ENERGY-BRAZIL: Putting (Human) Waste to Work

PETROPOLIS, Brazil, Oct 6 (IPS) - Biodigester technology, which originated in Asia as a natural process for treating sewage waste, is reemerging in Latin America as an integrated system providing cheap energy, improved sanitation, and even attractive landscaping.
