It seems pretty clear what is bothering these people. The writer of the article goes on:

"Therein lies the bigger question -- is it freedom of religion for the protestors in Fort Oglethorpe or freedom of their religion? If it's just their religion, how is that constitutional?"

He poses a good question. It's obvious that the citizens of N. Georgia are not worried about anyone but themselves and their particular religious sect.

The N. Georgia hills are indeed beautiful. The people, not so much.

Healthy debate at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe

A record number of fans came out on Friday night to see the Ridgeland High School Panthers play the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors, in a clash of nearby rivals.

"I was kind of surprised about the flap and the amount of attention it's gotten nation wide," said Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe principal Jerry Ransom.

The "flap" Ransom is referring to started early last week when Catoosa County Schools Superintendent Denia Reese informed Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe that the district had received a verbal complaint from a parent regarding the Biblical verses its cheerleaders use on the banners the football team runs through before games.

That angered many in the north Georgia community of about 10,000, and a rally supporting the cheerleaders was held soon after the decision became public, drawing hundreds.

In fact, what the whining is all about is the erosion of Christian privilege above all other faiths or non-belief. These sheep simply don't grasp the concept of a secular government actually being a benefit to their belief system. Instead they view it as an attack against their religion. Naturally, these attitudes are being advanced by a media subset that is reaping an enormous financial gain by manipulating these rubes with false claims of losing their freedoms and being persecuted by a non-existent, frightening subculture bent on destroying their faith.

Fans support LFO cheerleaders, Christianity

About two hours before the game between Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe and Ridgeland high schools, fans are lining up to show support for more than just their team.

Signs with Scripture verses and T-shirts saying “Warriors for Christ” are in the crowd tonight, showing support for the LFO cheerleaders who were banned last week from holding up banners with Bible verses.

Joyce Sparks, of Ringgold, and her husband came to game with their three children, none of whom go to either school.

“It’s not about the football game,” she said. “I’m here to support the cheerleaders and stand up for Christianity.”

She and her family were holding signs that read “I (Heart) Jesus” and “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

“I believe it’s more about people supporting their beliefs,” said LFO Principal Jerry Ransom. “I think it’s brought (the community) together.”

Why does the church-state issue continue to crop up in public schools?

The latest flare-up is here in Catoosa County where the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School cheerleaders turned to God when nothing else seemed to be helping their football team.

The cheerleaders created banners with Bible verses to change the fortunes of the team and displayed them during the football games. The banners are the sort that the players crash through as they enter the field and include such biblical verses as “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

“Personally, I appreciate this expression of their Christian values. However, as superintendent I have the responsibility of protecting the school district from legal action by groups who do not support their beliefs,” said Reese in a press statement.

Cities Grow at Suburbs' Expense During Recession

U.S. cities that for years lost residents to the suburbs are holding onto their populations with a mix of people trapped in homes they can't sell and those who prefer urban digs over more distant McMansions, according to Census data released Wednesday.

Growing cities are growing faster and shrinking cities are losing fewer people, reflecting a blend of choice and circumstance.

In Chicago, Matthew Sessa and his wife sold their townhouse and decided against buying a four-bedroom house in the suburbs. They bought a three-bedroom in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood instead, with a yard not much bigger than their garage.

"What we ended up getting in the city was just as nice, and the neighborhood that we moved into also has a very good elementary and junior high," said Mr. Sessa, a commercial banker who is 37 years old and has a baby due any day.

Plane Crash Kills 3 in Arkansas

Three are dead after a plane crash just South of Gaston’s Resort in Lakeview, Arkansas. According to the Baxter County Sheriff Office, the small sized plane crashed shortly after takeoff around 9AM Friday. So far there are 3 confirmed fatalities: The pilot, 52 year old Warren Langford and a son, 15 year old Brendan Langford of Chesterfield died at the scene. An air ambulance flew 15 year old Joshua Beckerle of Eureka to a Springfield hospital. 43 year old Donald Beckerle of Eureka and 15 year old Jacob Ritz of Bridgeton were taken by ambulance to the hospital in Mountain Home, but the teenager died.
