As his party is not available to the ordinary man on the Clapham bus, maybe wanting to kill him is not at variance to public opinion? But going through with it is an anathema. Brown is killing his party dead, destroying this once great nation, murdering RIGHTS, annihilating responsibility.

Terror Threat Against Brown

Three men arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences have been linked to an investigation into threats to kill Gordon Brown, it emerged last night.

Police confirmed that the arrests are linked to a posting on the al-Ekhlaas website in January calling for the deaths of Brown and his predecessor Tony Blair.

clipper's remarks: The only person I have heard eulogising over this pathetic British Government was a former artilleryman, a Labour Councillor on Blackpool's council, in a so-called debate on selecting 12 Rgt RA as Blackpool's adopted regiment. He made me want to vomit. Had his 9 years service not taught him to think for himself? From that performance it appears very unlikely.
The debate was an insult to intelligent oratory . It culminated in the heroic Major of the Conservative Party giving the worst two minute speech ever heard. The soporific mutterings were almost intelligible because the Chambers seemed to be engrossed in the fact that they may get more expenses as fresh legislation had just been introduced, requiring the Council to form a fresh licensing committee. If you think Westminster stinks, take a night off and go and visit your local council chamber. The great pity is that too few people attend these public events. New Labour has 'run its course', says senior MP

A senior Labour backbencher has said New Labour has "run its course" and that Gordon Brown must show "strength, will and purpose" to renew the government.

In an interview with ePolitix.com, schools committee chairman Barry Sheerman also said that he "very much doubted" that the embattled prime minister would face a leadership challenge.

The club claims that local authority-imposed drinking bans are infantilising and go beyond their legal remit.

But Home Office statistics show that nearly half of all violent crime is linked to alcohol. Drinking in public is now restricted in 613 places in England and Wales.

James Panton, a Manifesto Club founder, said: "The picnic is an attempt to reclaim public space. Alcohol bans are the result of a top-down, bureaucratic definition of public space, and an over-the-top response to perceived antisocial behaviour and social breakdown.

He added: "The police should be concerned with people breaking the law, not with these so-called preventative measures. Cultural issues are not solved with blanket bans, but by political and social engagement for which we need a vibrant public sphere."

Do local treasurers have the power to rein in over enthusiastic local politicians? Everyone can see that London Labour is so corrupt that their leading treasury personnel have no control over Labour finances. Labour Ministers flaunt their disregard for ethics whilst their spouses deny every single misdeeds of their partners. There is one ancient English metaphor...shit stinks!!!

Over the weekend the News of the World revealed that Conservative Party Chairman Caroline Spelman's Chief-of-Staff, Simon Cawte, was paid out of her parliamentary expenses for two years (2006 & 2007). Parliamentary Staff Allowances are prohibited from being used for partisan purposes. Andy Coulson told his former colleagues at the News of the World that their story was rubbish.

Barbara Tucker used a loudhailer to accuse Duncan of being a "murderer, terrorist, child murderer, bomber, disgusting, horrible and totally corrupt" as he left parliament one evening in February.

He claimed today that the conviction now put pressure on the Commons leader, Harriet Harman, to decide whether or not to move the protesters on permanently.

Duncan said: "The whole encampment has become a vulgar and pointless display which is utterly demeaning for the Westminster parliament.

"It is nothing to do with freedom of speech or the right to protest. It no longer has any justifiable democratic purpose. It is time to stop it."

Now a website designed to monitor editorial changes made on Wikipedia has found thousands of self-serving edits and traced them to their original source. It has turned out to be hugely embarrassing for armies of political spin doctors and corproate revisionists who believed their censorial interventions had gone unnoticed.

Some of the guilty parties identified by the website, such as the Labour Party, the CIA, Republican Party and the Church of Scientology, are well-known for their obsession with PR. But others, such as the Anglican and Catholic churches or even the obscurely titled Perro de Presa Canario Dog Breeders Association of America, are new to the dark arts of spin.

The website, Wikiscanner, was designed by Virgil Griffith, a graduate student from the California Institute of Technology, who downloaded the entire encyclopaedia, isolating the internet-based records of anonymous changes and IP addresses.

Critics have increased the pressure on Gordon Brown after Labour's defeat in the Glasgow East by-election, but colleagues have leapt to his defence.

The head of one of the UK's top unions has demanded a leadership contest, while Tory leader David Cameron has called for a general election.

But Chancellor Alistair Darling urged Labour to "rediscover the conviction" on which it won three elections.

Why? Last night I talked to a young man who echoed the derision of youth and the enthusiasm of not having lived through past Labour miseries on the late 60's and mid 70's.
With prospective Conservatives swanning it in deepest Rwanda, now is an ideal time for the youth of the region to kick these fossils in the dangly bits.
Go for it Ben. If you can't find a decent Party to adopt you, follow the lead of the Independent Doctor in the Forest of Dean and go it alone. I think the Conservatives have dropped a clanger with their nominee and I will be doing everything in my power to explain why to the electorate. Already the hierarchy of the local CP(Conservative Party) refuse to debate their situation with anyone not in their local party. Where was that article that say it takes £20K to get a nomination as a CP prospective candidate?

The Scottish National Party has pulled off a stunning by-election victory by winning Glasgow East, one of Labour's safest seats, by 365 votes.

The SNP overturned a Labour majority of 13,507 to win with a swing of 22.54%.

The SNP polled 11,277 votes in the contest, while the Tories came third with 1,639 and the Lib Dems, with 915 votes, came fourth.

SNP candidate John Mason said the victory was "off the Richter scale", while Labour expressed disappointment.

"It is an epic win and the tremors will be felt all the way to Downing Street."

clipper's remarks: I am not a conspiracy theorist. I honestly believe that Nu Lieber is dependant on the apathy and dogma of it's supporters. Watching Hazel Blears dig her way into trouble on the News, is sad for a once proud political party.
If she has not yet realised the reason few go to the local elections it is just because they are not invited to participate. Champagne socialist like Ms Blears are about a close to the electorate as Hitler was to the Jews, the Gypsies or Bolsheviks.
With her temporary leader firing own goals at PMQ's, it's about time the vets use a humane killer and put this party to sleep, once and for all.

Unite, the UK’s biggest union and the USW, the largest private sector union in the USA and Canada, will today, (2 July) sign an agreement creating the first global union.

The union, to be called Workers Uniting, will represent three million working people from every industrial sector in Britain, Ireland, the USA, Canada and the Caribbean.

The agreement to form a global union was initiated by the leaders of the two unions in response to the challenges of Globalisation. In particular, the casualisation of employment and reductions in pay and conditions for millions of working people in North America and Europe.

A year in the making, the agreement will lead to the synchronisation of collective bargaining in companies with operations on both sides of the Atlantic. It will also enable joint political campaigning. Unite is the Labour Party’s biggest affiliate and donor and the USW is a major contributor to and supporter of the Democrats in America and the New Democrats in Canada.

There is much emotional talk about defending Britain's ancient rights and liberties, whose erosion in the ostensible cause of fighting terror would, it is said, hand victory to al Qaeda. But this view does not chime with British public opinion – which if anything wants the government to take more draconian measures against terrorism. That's why Prime Minister Gordon Brown decided to extend the current 28-day limit for detaining terrorist suspects before charge to 42 days, a measure which the House of Commons recently passed.

So does this mean that the establishment mood on counterterrorism is toughening up? Not a bit. Mr. Brown forced through the 42-days law only with the last-minute help of the handful of Northern Irish Ulster Unionist MPs. Not only his own Labour backbenchers but the Conservative Party and most of the political and intellectual class are solidly against the measure, which is likely to be thrown out when it reaches the upper house of Parliament this month.
