The LA Times scoops the Virginia media with this column from the McCain campaign's official Buchanan County representative. You need to read this column to believe it. In "humor" he accuses Obama of wanting to paint the White House black, supporting reparations, changing the national anthem to the "black national anthem", teaching "black liberation theology in all churches", and replacing the flag with a "star and crescent logo".

Alan Moore on 'Watchmen' movie: 'I will be spitting venom all over it'

For the record, Alan Moore has not softened his view on Hollywood nor its plan to bring his classic graphic novel "Watchmen" to the screen next March.

"I find film in its modern form to be quite bullying," Moore told me during an hour-long phone call from his home in England. "It spoon-feeds us, which has the effect of watering down our collective cultural imagination. It is as if we are freshly hatched birds looking up with our mouths open waiting for Hollywood to feed us more regurgitated worms. The 'Watchmen' film sounds like more regurgitated worms. I for one am sick of worms. Can't we get something else? Perhaps some takeout? Even Chinese worms would be a nice change."

SCENE OF STABBING: Pamela Fayed was fatally attacked by a man with a knife in the parking garage of a Century City office complex where she had been visiting a lawyer.

Los Angeles police have arrested a man in connection with the highly publicized stabbing death of a woman in July in the parking garage of a Century City office complex, according to a law enforcement source.

Detectives from LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division arrested 47-year-old Jose Luis Moya last week on suspicion of murder for his alleged role in the death of Pamela Fayed, the source said.

Authorities had previously identified Fayed's husband, James, as the prime suspect in the killing.

Moya was arrested Thursday and is being held without bail in Los Angeles County Jail, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department website.

A federal judge has refused to consider bail for the estranged husband of a woman who was stabbed to death in a parking garage in upscale Century City.

James Fayed of Moorpark is charged with operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business. But a Los Angeles federal judge today refused to review his no-bail status in the case, saying he was concerned that Fayed eventually might be charged with his wife's murder.

One of Sarah Palin’s major selling points is her supposed reputation as an anti-wasteful-spending reformer who will clean up Washington. Well, the only problem with that is her records from back when she was mayor have surfaced, and in those records she boasts about getting, you guessed it, federal money for pork barrel projects.

And the most ironic part of it all? I’ll let The Washington Independent sum it up:

As Laura pointed out earlier, John McCain didn’t think so. Indeed, The LA Times reported that McCain was criticizing Palin’s earmarks at the time that his now-running mate was securing them. It’s revelations like these that can quickly erode candidates’ maverick reputations.

When will the media start scrutinizing Palin’s real record? The McCain campaign is going to attack them as being unfair/sexist/liberal/etc. no matter what they do. Might as well report the real story.

Gaze fixed on his oncoming opponent, wooden lance at the ready, head low, he goes into a statue-like crouch behind his shield, all 365 pounds of him. It's as if Moby-Dick has sprouted arms and legs and gotten hold of a harpoon.

Oboes and drums play a fanfare aboard the boats as they converge, bringing the jousters face to face. The crowd murmurs. Battle!

Jill Biden was teaching in a locked psychiatric unit at the Rockford Center in Delaware when one of her teenage students started spiraling out of control. He was on his feet, aggressive and abusive. In back of the class, a burly aide sprang up, ready to intervene. Biden shot him a look that said, "Wait."

In just a few moments, the situation was defused without disruption or force.

"She was able to talk that kid back into the appropriate behavior, and she did it by conveying that she understood how he was feeling," said Dana Garrett, the aide, who vividly remembers the incident two decades ago. "She didn't have an air of status about her. Someone else had to tell me she was the wife of the senator."

Satellite images show that cattle tend to point north and south when grazing and resting.

Birds do it, bees do it, and so, apparently, do . . . cows?

No, it's not that. We're talking about sensing the Earth's magnetic field.

Similar results were found in field studies of 2,974 red and roe deer in the Czech Republic, the researchers reported today in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The researchers had been studying magnetism in smaller animals and were looking for a way to extend their work to larger species.

What the benefit could be for cows, however, remains a mystery. It might help them find their way home, experts said, or perhaps it is simply a vestigial sense that is no longer used for any purpose.

Is he who he says he is?

Barack Hussein Obama is a Christian. We know this, he told us so. We've all seen the pesky emails stating that Obama is really a Muslim. His campaign came out and made a point of telling us that he is a Christian. He even sat down at a diner in Iowa to chat with some supporters and set the record straight about his background:

Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was born in Kenya to a Muslim family. When he died in 1982, he was buried as a Muslim. Under Islamic law, if your birth father is a Muslim, then so are you. Obama may not see himself that way, but the Muslim world does. Barack Obama's half brothers and sisters are also Muslim. His half-brother Roy (now named Abongo) is a Luo militant Muslim activist in Kenya.

Obama says his mother was a Christian, but an LA Times reporter looked into her background and found that she was, at best, agnostic and that Obama's grandparents were atheists.

Democrat Barack Obama is on vacation this week, but his campaign released its latest advertisement, accusing Republican rival John McCain of being a "celebrity" in Washington political circles. The McCain campaign fired the first salvo in the celebrity game when it compared Obama to Paris Hilton, who's more famous for being notorious than for any real accomplishment.

"For decades, he's been Washington's biggest celebrity," the announcer says of McCain in the Obama ad, titled "Embrace." It then shows the introduction of the Arizona Republican during an appearance on " Saturday Night Live."

The authority allows the daughter to waive attorney-client privilege on behalf of her mother, which will allow investigators to question both divorce and criminal lawyers on conversations they had with their client in the months leading up to her death

The lawyer representing the companies objected to her having control over her mothers interest in them. The judge gave her control over any documents that may help in the murder case but not over those detailing business operations

The authority allows Goudie to waive attorney-client privilege on behalf of her mother, clearing the way for Los Angeles police investigators to question Pamela Fayed's divorce and criminal lawyers on conversations they had with the woman in the months leading up to her July 28 death

Goudie also asked the judge to give her control over her mother's interests in the gold trading business

A lawyer representing those companies

objected, saying that the business had not been given enough time to respond to the emergency filings

But Kelligrew said Goudie needed some control over the business to protect her mother's estate

Goudie's appointment will also permit her to retrieve her mother's remains
