I must admit that installation for the Linux MCE is straight-forward. Now, the configuration of many of the features in the video, including simply to discover media in other PCs in your network, might take some more time and IT skills.

<clipSource>http://tech-talk.biz/2007/12/14/linux-mce-video-demo-impressive/</clipSource>

Ubuntu - Itunes replacements

clipped by: dazncat

Clip Source: ubuntuforums.org

check gtkpod work great
You can as well use some amarock plugins
I rather prefer gtkpod for my ipod.
and for ripping
under kde it rip all by itself if you read a cd (you just choose the ogg: mp3 or else)
other like grip as well very good riper..(gogo,flac,ogg...=)

But actually, the best replacement would probably be Amarok, but it is QT based. I hate using QT (KDE) apps in Gnome personally but if you can live with it, give it a try. Very impressive app, and it's available from the official sources (1.3.5 in the repositories, 1.3.7 from the Kubuntu site).

Tags: itunes, ubuntu

<clipSource>http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=109936</clipSource>

LinuxMCE The complete whole-house media solution

clipped by: rj3sp

Clip Source: linuxmce.com

LinuxMCE is a free, open source add-on to Kubuntu including a 10' UI, complete whole-house media solution with pvr + distributed media, and the most advanced smarthome solution available. It is stable, easy to use, and requires no knowledge of Linux and only basic computer skills.

Check my site for the rest of the info, but for now here it is. This took a little investigating to find the oslution, but it presented itself. With no references < link href=""> in the source of the pop-over window for the new clipper window, I went to the CM.com homepage, which loads all the "CM" stylesheets and JS files. Bingo, problem solved.

Clip Source: criticalcode.com

UPDATE: So I found a fix for this. Looks like the "first time clipper window" relys on a style sheet to be loaded in the parent frame. So if you are on clipmarks.com, the support for the button-click's id= is present. If you load clipmarks and try to start it on any other site for the first time, you are totally SOL. This should be an easy fix for the team. :-)

Found a rather debilitating bug in Clipmarks 2.05

As you can see here, there is no events or clickable things being spawned here. I removed the html and head tags as they don't help this explanation at all. There are no included files or what-not in them. All they need to do is fix this and it would make me so happy!!!! So to fix the problem, remove and reinstall Clipmarks and try again. YMMV.

Tags: clipmarks, bug, javascript, css, stylesheet

<clipSource>http://criticalcode.com/</clipSource>

test

clipped by: welikebrian

Clip Source: ubuntuguide.org

Ubuntu:Feisty

At the time, it is not a Canonical sanctioned project because of the licensing on several of the MythTV dependencies. Mainly, it can be seen as a preconfigured Ubuntu install for mythtv usage. All unnecessary applications such as OpenOffice, Evolution, and a full Gnome desktop are not installed for a Mythbuntu installation. At any time, a user may choose to install ubuntu-desktop, kubuntu-desktop, or xubuntu-desktop and add a full desktop onto their installation.

Tags: mythbuntu, ubuntu, pvr, mythtv

<clipSource>http://www.mythbuntu.org/</clipSource>

Wubi

clipped by: lgsalas

Clip Source: news.softpedia.com

The thing that will surely amaze you is not that Wubi will install Ubuntu (with its flavors: Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, UbuntuStudio) on your system without you having to deal with a mind-blowing row of tasks before finally having it ready to run, but that it will not affect your file system in any manner. As you can read on Wubi's FAQ page, "Wubi adds an entry to the Windows boot menu which allows you to run Linux.

Sometimes it is necessary to run a program with root
privileges. This is easy to do with the Run
                        Command dialog.

Warning

Please be careful while running applications with root
privileges as you may damage your system. See the section called "Root And Sudo" for more details.

Open the Run Command dialog by typing:
                            Alt-F2

Enter the name of the program you wish to run,
                            prefixed with
                            kdesu and press
Enter. For example, to launch the
                            file manager Konqueror
                            with root privileges, type

kdesu konqueror
