Distribution of wealth? We've already done it. How many trillions have we transferred from workers to nonworkers in the war on poverty, in the Great Society, and all of LBJ's programs? We are redistributing wealth like crazy.

We're already redistributing wealth whether the Constitution addresses it or not. I don't know if he's read the Federalist Papers, because the Founders talked about this all over the place.

Here is Thomas Jefferson in a letter to Joseph Milligan, April 6th, 1816: "To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association -- the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it." So, Mr. President, our Founders were brilliant. They didn't put redistribution of wealth in there 'cause they didn't believe in it!

clipper's remarks: Most of the fifty-five Founding Fathers who worked on the Constitution were members of orthodox Christian churches and many were even evangelical Christians. The first official act in the First Continental Congress was to open in Christian prayer, which ended in these words: "...the merits of Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Savior. Amen". Sounds Christian to me.

Ben Franklin, at the Constitutional Convention, said: "...God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?"

John Adams stated so eloquently during this period of time that; "The general principles on which the fathers achieved Independence were ... the general principles of Christianity ... I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that the general principles of Christianity are as etemal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God."

Recently, many authors have debated whether or not the United States of America was founded as a Christian nation. I wish to provide a few historical quotes from our Founding Era that lend credence to the supposition that we indeed were founded as a Christian nation.

Granted, God is not mentioned in the Constitution, but He is mentioned in every major document leading up to the final wording of the Constitution. For example, Connecticut is still known as the "Constitution State" because its colonial constitution was used as a model for the United States Constitution. Its first words were: "For as much as it has pleased the almighty God by the wise disposition of His Divine Providence…"

clipper's remarks: The John Adams Project is a joint effort by the ACLU and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers to locate, stalk, and photograph covert CIA agents and to show those photographs to terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

The Justice Department is investigating the John Adams Project. It is a violation of federal law to identify covert CIA agents. An ACLU spokesperson justified the outing of covert CIA agents by claiming that they had been involved in the "torture" of Guantanamo terrorist detainees that ACLU lawyers are representing.

The John Adams Project was featured on Tuesday night's O'Reilly Factor when an O'Reilly producer chased down one of the three lawyers involved in the John Adams Project and demanded answers about an operation that would seem, on the face of it, place the lives of covert CIA operatives at jeopardy. The lawyer in question was very defiant and angry at being questioned by a Fox News producer with the camera rolling.

You have controlled legislation that has enhanced your husband’s investments both on and off shore. At the same time you redistributed the wealth of others. Our system of a free market economy is being destroyed by the likes of you, Harry Reid, and now our President. You ride around in a Gulfstream airplane at the tax payer’s expense while criticizing the presidents of companies who produced something for the economy. You add nothing to the economy of the United States; you only subtract therefrom.

I would like to suggest that you return to the city of fruitcakes and nuts and eat your husband’s canned tuna and pineapple produced by illegal immigrants and by workers who have been excluded from the protection that 90% of the legal workers in the United States have.

I am a soon to be 65 year-old who has voted in every state and local election since 1966. I have voted for both Republicans and Democrats alike. I have worked on campaigns for both Republicans and Democrats, white and black. I served the country that I love in Vietnam, as my son did in the Middle East. I was awarded two bronze stars. I have been involved in politics since age 6 when my father was campaign manager for a truly great American Congressman, Charles Raper Jonas, who worked for his constituents and his country, and was to be admired, unlike you.

You obviously haven’t read the Constitution recently, if ever, the Federalist Papers, or even David McCullough’s book on John Adams. You ought to take the time while riding around in your government provided luxury executive jet to do just that.

Mr. Black is right. We have been there before. Japan wrote the US off as it soared economically in the 1980s and 1990s. In “Work Without Managers” (1990), I recorded author Akio Morita’s remark from his book, “The Japan That Can Say, No!”(1989): “Americans look ahead 10 minutes, while Japanese look ahead 10 years.” By 1999, Japan was looking ahead to a crippling recession. So much for prophesy of gloom and doom.

America is an idea, and that idea releases the human spirit to fill its potential in some creative way, or not. Freedom and expression are universal needs and America will remain strong and great, and yes powerful as well as long as it is sanctuary for the expression of such needs. John Quincy Adams understood the American conscience.
