Note this phrase from the title: “US Terrorist Army Base.” Major Hasan is a psychiatrist, so he should know that projection–literally, “throwing off on the other person”–is one of the most common defenses that people employ when they think, or especially do, things of which they should, at the very least, be ashamed.

But the most damning piece of evidence was Hasan’s infamous “Grand Rounds” that he delivered back in 2007 while at Walter Reed Hospital, titled “The Koranic World View As It Relates to Muslims in the U.S. Military.” In that presentation, which any reader can view in its entirety at the above link, Hasan repeatedly cited and often quoted surah and ayah (i.e., chapter and verse) from the Koran to justify some very forthright, even brazen commentary on the relationships

President Obama spoke at that event, as he could hardly have failed to do. But neither he nor anyone else present seemed to want to discuss the camel in the room, which is terrorism.

It may be hard to comprehend the twisted logic that led to this tragedy. But this much we do know: no faith justifies these murderous and craven acts; no just and loving God looks upon them with favor. For what he has done, we know that the killer will be met with justice–in this world, and the next.

Obama did say one correct thing in the above paragraph: that no just and loving God looks with favor on acts of this kind. A careful read of the Koran and the Hadiths shows that the Allah of Islam is anything but loving, and that Allah’s idea of justice is simple: Follow My law, or My servants will make sure that you die slowly and painfully.

This statement, however, is incorrect: that no faith justifies such acts. Wrong, Mr. President. Classical Islam not only justifies such acts; it commands them.

I'd argue that we're looking beyond his religious beliefs because that's what we as a society do. When we look at other religiously motivated domestic terrorists, like Eric Randolph (who bombed both the Olympic Park and an abortion clinic), we don't accept religion alone as a motivation. It's just not enough to explain how an American would look other Americans in the face and then end their lives

If we write Hasan off as nothing but a religious zealot, we're missing the bigger picture

When we put aside the idea of Hasan as part of a jihad, we're not avoiding reality—we're looking it squarely in the face. We have met the enemy, and far too often, he is us.

Tripoli, Libya (CNN) -- From within Libya's most secure jail a new challenge to al Qaeda is emerging.

Leaders of one of the world's most effective jihadist organizations, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), have written a new "code" for jihad. The LIFG says it now views the armed struggle it waged against Col. Moammar Gadhafi's regime for two decades as illegal under Islamic law.

The code's most direct challenge to al Qaeda is this: "Jihad has ethics and morals because it is for God. That means it is forbidden to kill women, children, elderly people, priests, messengers, traders and the like. Betrayal is prohibited and it is vital to keep promises and treat prisoners of war in a good way. Standing by those ethics is what distinguishes Muslims' jihad from the wars of other nations."

In essence the new code for jihad is exactly what the West has been waiting for: a credible challenge from within jihadist ranks to al Qaeda's ideology.

Bravo to freedom fighter Phyllis Chesler for her robust, intelligent and brave performance on Lou Dobbs this evening. In a face-off with Nation columnist John Nichols about whether the Fort Hood tragedy can be called “terrorism,” Chesler made the crucial points that Hasan was a jihadist, that there is an ideology of radical Islam that is at war with this nation, and that the U.S. Army simply has to become a “politically correct free zone” if it is to protect not only this country but also the lives of its own troops.

Imams preach jihad and extremism in 10 percent of the 2,000 mosques in the United States, the FBI estimates.

That sums up the problem facing us as we ponder the meaning of Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s slayings of 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas. Given his association with a pro-al-Qaida imam in northern Virginia and his preoccupation with radical Islamic Web sites, it’s clear that the radical element of Islam influenced Hasan.

On the other hand, those who condemn Muslims in general because of the actions of Hasan and others like him are engaging in prejudice that has no place in America. Indeed, such stereotyping sets back the war on terror, because we need moderate Muslims on our side.

On Monday, Chicago Mayor Daley blamed the Ft. Hood Jihad Massacre on America’s love of guns!

“Unfortunately, America loves Guns. We love guns to a point where that uh we see devastation on a daily basis. You don’t blame a group.”

The Mayor is using a straw-man argument that conveniently provides him with an opportunity to politicize the terrorist attack as part and parcel with America’s love of guns.

Mayor Daley, and other politicians, like to blame gun violence on the guns themselves because that is so much easier than admitting any inconvenient (politically incorrect) truths which might be revealed if they were to place blame where it belongs.

Kids murdering each other in the inner city? That’s because of guns, not the War On Drugs which turns poor children into black market drug distributing gang members.

As President Obama belatedly appears at Fort Hood today, will he dare to speak the word "terror?"

Under Muslim jurisprudence, jihad's an individual responsibility. Hasan was a self-appointed jihadi.

A sickening (and amateurish) Washington Post article portrayed him as a poor, impoverished minority

As a major drawing added professional pay for his medical credentials, plus his benefits, Hasan made a six-figure income.

Sen. Joe Lieberman, one of the few lawmakers willing to whisper the word "terrorism," needs to call the officers who sat on Hasan's promotion board before the Senate, put them under oath, then ask if Hasan made major because of minority-quota requirements.

Maj. Hasan's terrorism should not result in a witch hunt against Muslim service members. But soldiers who happen to be Muslims must be subject to the same level of scrutiny and discipline as those of other faiths.

Because Islamist terrorism doesn't exist. Just ignore the dead and ask our president.

Officials: U.S. Army Told of Hasan's Contacts with al Qaeda

The Telegraph of London reported that Awlaki had made contact with two of the 9/11 hijackers when he was in San Diego.

He denied any knowledge of the hijacking plot and was never charged with any crime. After an intensive investigation by the FBI , Awlaki moved to Yemen.

People who knew or worked with Hasan say he seemed to have gradually become more radical in his disapproval of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Sunday, Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) called for an investigation into whether the Army missed signs as to whether Hasan was an Islamic extremist.

"If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the U.S. Army has to have a zero tolerance," Lieberman told Fox News Sunday.

A fellow Army doctor who studied with Hasan, Val Finell, told ABC News, "He would frequently say he was a Muslim first and an American . .

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

According to the officials, the Army was informed of Hasan's contact, but it is unclear what, if anything, the Army did in response.

Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said that he requested the CIA and other intelligence agencies brief the committee on what was known, if anything, about Hasan by the U.S. intelligence community, only to be refused.

Investigators want to know if Hasan maintained contact with a radical mosque leader from Virginia, Anwar al Awlaki, who now lives in Yemen and runs a web site that promotes jihad around the world against the U.S.

According to his site, Awlaki served as an imam in Denver, San Diego and Falls Church, Virginia.

I have reported on many occasions on the number of death threats Rifqa Bary has been receiving from Muslims bent on enforcing the death penalty for apostasy. I spent some time last night with a former Muslim and now a believer in Christ. Safeyia was a young, lovely woman, much like Rifqa, who spoke of the terrible difficulties apostates face. Safeyia came to Texas for "An Evening with Pamela Geller". Safeya lives under a fatwa her uncle issued on her.

The jihad against Rifqa is the same violent ideology that mowed down the righteous men and women at Fort Hood. Would General Casey worry about insulting Muslim sensibilities by attempting to keep safe victims of apostasy fatwas and honor killings?

Then he went to Iraq and singlehandedly created the Haditha Massacre hoax. Then he went to Jerusalem and spent a few years slandering Israel. Time Magazine reporter Tim McGirk has posited the theory that Nidal Hasan --- who attended a radical mosque with the 9-11 hijackers, told colleagues that infidels should have their throats cut, and screamed "Allahu Akbar" as he killed 13 people --- was suffering from "secondary trauma," a sort of "contact PTSD," where hearing stories from combat soldiers who suffered from PTSD drove him to commit mass murder. Because it couldn't possibly have been Islamic jihad, and the media will grasp at any straw to deny that. possibility.

Empathy for the enemies of the United States is the default position for Mainstream Media organs like Time Magazine. It's a good thing that they are dying.

BTW, here's yet another clue the MSM will ignore. Hasan's business card contains the notation "SoA" meaning "Soldier of Allah." Will they still claim this guy just needed a vacation?

Akhter argued, “Jihad means an inner struggle, fighting against corruption and injustice.”

The conversation would be just another theological debate, interesting but irrelevant, except that the doctor was Maj. Nidal Hasan, 39, the gunman in the tragic Fort Hood rampage. After being posted to Walter Reed Hospital as a psychiatrist, Hasan called the Muslim Community Center his local mosque. It’s just a short drive away from Walter Reed.

We Need an Ask and Tell Policy Regarding Jihadists in Our Military

When the initial news reports started pouring out of Fort Hood about the mass murder (read terrorist attack) of some of America’s finest, I turned to my wife and daughter and without hesitation said, “I’ll bet you a hundred bucks it was a Muslim.” I was spot on. But shame on me for thinking such a thing, right? (Yeah, those of us who immediately thought that the murderer, given the circumstances, had to be a Muslim, we’re the bad guys.)

Yep, a Religion of Peace adherent, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, as you well know by now, opened fire as he screamed “Allahu Akbar!” on a room full of unarmed soldiers, killing 13 and wounding 30. Unarmed soldiers. Wow. What a wussy. What a “mighty warrior” for Allah, eh? Unarmed soldiers. I say it’s high time to begin carrying on base because, obviously, such d-bags cannot read that military bases are to be gun free zones.
