According to Lingle, the Republican Party is likely to attract growing numbers of Jewish voters because “the Republicans have a much stronger position on Israel than the Democrats, and that’s why I think more people will be seen on the Republican side.

Lingle was interviewed on the FOX programme and she noted that Palin spoke at an energy conference in Hawaii and impressed everyone with her knowledge of the issues. While there she went into labour and flew back to Alaska to have her baby and was back on the job shortly thereafter.

"Senator McCain’s commitment to Israel is strong and well-known, and I assure your readers that he would not put someone on that ticket who did not have the same feelings."

There is a wise way and a foolish way; a broad way and a narrow one. Do people really think that one can "pray away gay?" It's so convenient to believe if one's orientation is heterosexual I suppose.

The purpose of post-World War I's League of Nations was to prepare those liberated from the Turks for independence. Once the indigenous populations demonstrated their ability to assume control, the mandates given to the war's victorious superpowers were supposed to be self-terminating. For the international community, justice for the Arabs meant guaranteeing their economic, civil, and religious rights. Awarding the Arabs any form of self-government within Palestine was precluded by British commitments to the Jews under the Balfour Declaration, which had been incorporated in the mandate of the League of Nations.[11]

At this point in history, post-World War I, political pressure caused the international community to endorse the Jewish desire for national self-determination and acc epted that the Jewish people had a justifiable claim to return to their homeland. Significantly, in this recognition, the Balfour Declaration and the Mandate under the League of Nations make no mention of Palestinians as a separate and distinct people with their own national rights. The indigenous people were regarded as residents whose political identity was connected to the larger Arab nation.[9]

For the British, the matter was quite clear: Palestine was not a state but the name of a geographical area. This had been reinforced by the indigenous Arabs themselves.

When the First Congress of Muslim-Christian Associations met in Jerusalem in February 1919 to select Palestinian Arab representatives for the Paris Peace Conference, they adopted the following resolution:

Palin is another story. She is an exceedingly odd choice for a party which has spent the better part of the past year loudly exclaiming that it was reaching out to Jewish voters

First, Palin has absolutely no foreign policy experience

Palin has never visited Israel and besides signing a pro-Israel resolution passed by the state legislature, she has apparently never spoken out or focused on the Jewish state.

ON DOMESTIC issues she is totally out of step with public opinion in the Jewish community.

The Jewish vote in 2008 has been a hot topic of conversation in the media. John McCain's fist major decision of this campaign - picking Palin for his running mate - leads us to believe that the Jewish community's concerns are not so high on his priority list.

Israeli archaeologists say they have rediscovered rare remains of the wall that surrounded Jerusalem more than 2100 years ago after locating the site of a 19th century dig.

The wall, on Mount Zion at the southern edge of Jerusalem's Old City, dates back to the Second Jewish Temple, which was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD.

Built during the second century BC under the Hasmonean dynasty, the wall was not supported by mortar or other bonding material, and formed part of a 6 kilometre long fortification around the city.

The archaeologists say they also discovered at the same site a section of the city walls dating from the later Byzantine period between the 4th and 7th centuries AD.

The present wall around Jerusalem's Old City is 4 kilometres long in circumference.

The wall had disappeared from view by the time a similar stone barrier, also uncovered in the dig, was built at the site during the Byzantine period more than 250 years later.

How quickly Washington transforms everyone, even from the remotest states, by coercing conformity to global democratic agenda and blind allegiance to Israel through the muscle of The Lobby. This trumps all other considerations, is the hallmark of foreign policy (and why wars never cease), which also in turn has consequences on the economy (high gas prices, national debt, value of money) and domestic policy as well.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin today met with the board of directors of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, NBC/NJ has confirmed.

The meeting took place inside Palin's hotel, sources said.

A campaign official would not say who asked for the meeting, but said it was geared towards putting the American Jewish community at ease over her understanding of US-Middle East relations.

Palin, joined by Sen. Joe Lieberman, expressed her "heartfelt support for Israel" and spoke of the threats it faces from Iran and others, the campaign official said.

"We had a good productive discussion on the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship, and we were pleased that Gov. Palin expressed her deep, personal, and lifelong commitment to the safety and well-being of Israel," AIPAC spokesman Josh Block said.

Within Israel, a consensus across the political spectrum has developed on the Iran matter. Iran's president Ahmadinejad has stated that he will wipe Israel off the map, making clear his use weapons of mass destruction against the Jewish state.

Obama has given mixed signals on the Iran threat. During the Democratic primary he argued for direct negotiations with Iran. He has avoided making any suggestion the U.S. should take military action against Iran.
