I love how easy it is to drag and drop photos into your Tweets. The "Hot Topics" scrolling hashtags keeps you up on the latest. All one has to do is click on a topic and the latest tweets on the topic open up into another tab.

There is more to this application than Tweet Deck or Seesmic have to offer. I love the way you can easily post 10 photos to Flickrs simply by dragging them to an open space. I can also see my friends latest updates on Flickr. Posting comments to Facebook is easy without ever having to login. Your friends latest comments on Facebook can be viewed in an attractive Feedalizr window. The screen for viewing all these accounts are similar in size to any instant messaging screen. Those who use Friendfeed can easily post or monitor friends comments in Feedalizr also. Short Videos is a feature which let's you post videos

[Tech] Google execs admit Twitter's winning real-time game

Google co-founder Larry Page and CEO Eric Schmidt have admitted that when it comes to the public's thirst for real-time, up-to-the-minute news and conversation, Twitter's beating them.

This was reported by the U.K.'s Guardian, as the two executives took the stage at Google's Zeitgeist conference in London.

"People really want to do stuff real time and I think they [Twitter] have done a great job about it," the Guardian quoted Page as saying. "I think we have done a relatively poor job of creating things that work on a per-second basis."

Google acquired one of Twitter's onetime competitors, Jaiku, in fall 2007. Back then, it was still early enough in Twitter's ascent that a competitor with a better product could've come from behind and beaten it--especially with Google's powerful backing. But earlier this year, amid company-wide cutbacks, Google halted most development on Jaiku.

Jaiku-fanittajana olen ollut aika pihalla siitä, miten 140 merkkiä voisi riittää mihinkään kunnolliseen nettiviestintään. Lähinnä sellainen toimii avauksena, kuten Jaikussa. Twitter ei tarjoa lavertelutilaa kommenttiosastolla. On vain tuo lyhyt merkkimäärä ja sitten pitäisi viritellä kaikenlaisia liitännäishärpäkkeitä, että saisi jotain tolkkua jatkuvasta viestimerrenkäynnistä.

ITK'09-päiviä varten punotaan salaista ja maagista juonta. Siihen liittyen on tullut seurattua ja testailtua monenlaista. Ja sitten ta-da, luin Twitteristi-blogin jutun suomalaisten puolueitten Twitter-seuraajista. Ahaa! Haa!

Google Notebook, Google Catalog Search, Dodgeball, Jaiku, Google Mashup Editor. Судьба этих проекты разная. Загрузка новых видеофайлов на Google Video будет невозможна через пару месяцев, а сайт продолжит работать как видеоархив. Микроблогинг Jaiku станет опенсурсным проектом. Пользователи которые ранее использовали Google Notebook будут иметь доступ к своим записям через web интерфейс (расширение для Firefox перестанет работать), но новички им воспользоваться не смогут.

Forget Microblogging, Build Microforums

As a longtime forum denizen, I have a few issues with community forums. They are often used for the kind of banter that needs only a line or two. "Anyone had the 1989 Haut-Brion?" or "How do I boot Windows in safe mode?" are typical. In the thread that follows, untrimmed quotes, non-sequitor answers, and long-winded useless opinions often follow. This was great fun in the days when we used 14kbps modems, LOL, and had an available attention glut. Today, only people with serious time on their hands can really do this, and only in one or two places, probably. We need to streamline our forum activities, not to go faster but to give more and get more out of them.

In the last year, the tools have been emerging to build microforums: vertical instances of what are basically improved chat rooms. Here are a few succinct reasons why you will like using a microforum. Here's some background from Ars Technica who wrote this in July, 2008.

Festivalgangers Lowlands maken live streaming televisie

Lowlands is live te volgen via 3voor12. Dat er ook een speciaal kanaal is waar foto’s, video’s en tekstberichten van festivalgangers vertoond worden is minder bekend. 3voor12 maakte dit mogelijk met Kyte.tv in hun Lowlands mashup.

Met Kyte.tv kan iedereen zijn eigen web-televisiekanaal beginnen op een site, blog of zelfs mobiele telefoon. Voor Lowlands werd zo’n kanaal gemaakt. Aan de festivalbezoekers wordt gevraagd hun filmpjes en foto’s te e-mailen naar LL07@kyte.tv, de ingezonden content wordt vervolgens automatisch afgespeeld.

Je kunt de player embedden maar leuker is het om even te kijken naar de mashup pagina waar naast Kyte ook Twitter, Jaiku, Flickr en Google Maps draaien. Zo kun je het festival volgen met commentaar van de thuisblijvers en de festivalgangers. Draai daarnaast de 3voor12 stream en je krijgt meer mee dan de festivalgangers zelf.
