"We didn't know who it was. We didn't know if they didn't have children or if this was their last chance for a child."

"We knew if our child was out there, we'd go to the ends of the earth to get our child back," she said.

Savage, 40, is due to give birth to a boy within the next two weeks via cesarean section. When it happens, biological parents Paul and Shannon Morell, of Michigan, will be nearby, waiting to meet their son.

"How do you thank somebody for what they've done?" Shannon Morell said. "I could say thank you a million different ways."

The Savages say the fertility clinic transferred the wrong frozen embryo to Carolyn's womb in early February. Ten days later, Sean Savage got a call from a doctor saying his wife was pregnant with someone else's child.

Clip Source: www.breitbart.com

Carolyn Savage, 40, is seen at her home, Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, in Sylv...

Carolyn Savage, 40, is seen at her home, Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, in Sylv...

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Carolyn Savage didn't know what to think, what to say, where to look as the ultrasound wand glided over her belly. For men with fertility problems, some doctors are prescribing a very conventional way to have a baby: more sex.

In a study of 118 Australian men with damaged sperm, doctors found that having sex every day for a week significantly reduced the amount of DNA damage in their patients' sperm. Previous studies have linked better sperm quality to higher pregnancy rates.

The research was announced Tuesday at a meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology in Amsterdam.

Dr. David Greening of Sydney IVF, a private fertility clinic in Australia, and colleagues looked at 118 men who had damaged sperm. Greening and colleagues told the men to have sex every day for a week. After seven days, the doctors found that in 81 percent of the men, there was a 12 percent decrease in the amount of damaged sperm.

Many fertility experts suggest men abstain from sex before their partners have in-vitro fertilization, to try to elevate their sperm counts.

Tags: getting pregnant, how to get pregnant

<clipSource>http://abcnews.go.com/Health/MensHealthNews/wireStory?id=7963654</clipSource>

Super Sperm

clipped by: cakebelly
clipper's remarks: more (at source): The researcher said: 'Sometimes, during the fine-tuning process, high rates of infertility can be seen. That's probably the reason for the very high rates of unexplained infertility in the last decades.'

Dr Hasson, of Tel Aviv University in Israel, says women's bodies have gradually evolved extra 'defences' to force sperm to become more competitive to reach the egg at all.

Men have responded by making more of the aggressive super-sperm. Once the first sperm fertilises an egg, a woman's body throws up a further range of biochemical defences to stop all the others reaching it.

Dr Hasson said: 'To avoid the fatal consequences of polyspermy, female reproductive tracts have evolved to become formidable barriers to sperm.

Clip Source: www.dailymail.co.uk

But some may be suffering because they are producing super-sperm which are too fast and powerful, scientists believe.

Evolutionary biologist Oren Hasson believes they race past the

Reconstructed eggs were then fertilised with the father's sperm and the healthy offspring were born. Tests showed that no mDNA from the mother's egg had been transferred.

Clip Source: www.guardian.co.uk

The monkeys with three parents that could stop mothers passing on incurable diseases

It involves transferring healthy DNA from the mother's egg cell into an
egg donated by another woman.

Children conceived by the technique would inherit DNA from three sources - their mother, the donor and their father.

The American team who produced the macaque monkeys - named Mito,

Red Flag for Baby Making Industry: IVF Causes Metabolic Problems
