clipper's remarks: According a number of outspoken German Translation students, demonstrations began on Monday and are anticipated to continue through the weekend. Apparently, the protests began at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich sparked these new comments from the Education Minister. Other protests are being held simultaneously on 20 different university campuses throughout Germany. However, German students are not alone in their call for academic reform. In fact, the German protests are more of a display of camaraderie for students in Austria who are also demanding changes. In Austria, complaints range from overloaded degree courses, social inequality within the educational system, chronic funding shortages, and the introduction of tuition fees and the bachelor and master system into German universities problems in restructuring bachelors and masters degree programs. More specifically, student tend to be protesting most for publicly funded education.

As a result of their demands for government intervention and immediate action, the Education Minister in Berlin has called for the immediate enactment of reforms that have already been agreed upon. According to German Translation workers covering the protests, there have been a number of mixed signals from school and government officials concerning the streamlining of academic programs, changes to degree programs, school policies, financial aid, age limits and national grant programs.

In a win for the little guy, the small Victorian town of Romsey has a won a fight against the introduction of 30 poker machines in the town's only pub.

After a marathon five-year battle, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal today ruled against the introduction of the machines.

"On balance, I have concluded the social impact of gaming machines at the hotel on the well-being of the community will be strongly negative," Tribunal president Justice Kevin Bell said.

Surveys had indicated up to 80 per cent of the town's population opposed the introduction of the machines at the hotel.

Macedon Ranges shire mayor John Letchford was ecstatic after the decision and said the shire would help other communities fighting against the introduction of poker machines.

"We feel vindicated in our stance with this long-going gaming machine issue and certainly the community has been heard," he said.

"It gives great substance and credibility to local government to be able to take up this particular fight

Incumbency allows politicians to raise millions of dollars in campaign funds in exchange for earmarks. Incumbency gives Congress the power to raise money for itself " Congress just approved itself an increase of nearly $250 million from the U.S. Treasury that members will spend to promote themselves.

Senator Coburn also points out that with redistricting (except for the unlucky Representative who gets drawn out of the House if his State loses one or more seats), a Representative, having good connections with his State legislature, can "choose his voters."

The effect of this amendment would be very simple. Senators would be limited to two terms or fifteen years ....

Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) today announced his latest legislative introduction: a Congressional Joint Resolution to amend the Constitution to limit the maximum terms of service of Senators and Representatives.

Senator DeMint has three other Senators co-sponsoring his proposed amendment: Tom Coburn (R-OK), Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), and Sam Brownback (R-KS).

Senator DeMint is making this proposal in order to remove from Washington the class of "permanent politicians" that represent their constituents only in name, and have every incentive to self-identify as permanent residents of Washington, DC, and not as permanent residents of their respective States or districts. He has a point. A Representative might possibly be forced out of office because his State lost a district in the Census, and he winds up being the one told to sacrifice his seat. That, of course, cannot happen to a Senator. Either type of member of Congress might be removed from office for misconduct.

There are so many synth plugins out there, including free ones. Although they all have their own unique touch to them, they tend to have a similar set of features. There are also different types of synthesizers and synthesis methods (such as additive, subtractive, fm synthesis). What I want to do here is choose a freeware subtractive synthesizer and see how it works. Most of the information will be outlined below.
