A video released by the Jewish Council for Education & Research, which appeared to show several retired senior IDF and Mossad officials supporting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has proven to be misleading, with a number of officials who appeared in the video saying on Monday that their words were taken out of context.

Fuld's testimony to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform later today will be his first public appearance since Sept. 10, five days before New York-based Lehman filed for bankruptcy.

The hearings ``are all about rich people getting money,'' Issa, a Waxman critic, said in an interview on Oct. 3. ``Henry Waxman hates rich people.''

Fuld, 62, the longest serving CEO on Wall Street, is the only Lehman executive appearing before the committee. Former AIG Chief Executive Officers Robert Willumstad, Martin J. Sullivan and Maurice R. Greenberg are scheduled to testify on Oct. 7.

Tina Fey reprised her role as Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin during a Saturday Night Live spoof of Thursday's debate.

Rapper and actress Queen Latifah played the role of moderator Gwen Ifill of PBS while cast member Jason Sudeikis spoofed Palin's Democratic opponent Sen. Joe Biden.

This is Fey's third skit parroting Palin's gaffes. SNL opened this season with a spoof of Palin and Sen. Hillary Clinton giving a press conference denouncing sexism in the media.

Several weeks later, Fey mocked Palin's highly ridiculed interview with CBS' Katie Couric.

In the latest episode of Fey's comic crusade against Gov. Palin, Fey spoofed the governor's stance on same-sex marriage, climate change as the "end of days," and being a "maverick."

"But don't think I don't tolerate gay people, because I do, I tolerate them with all my heart," Fey said. "And I know quite a few, too, not personally, but I know of them."

(Newser) – Sarah Palin has complained that she got "clobbered" in her interview with Katie Couric, reports the Huffington Post. "It's like, man, no matter what you say, you are going to get clobbered," she grumbled to Fox News. "If you choose to answer a question, you get clobbered. If you choose to try to pivot and go to another subject, you get clobbered for that, too."

The "Sarah Palin in those interviews was a little annoyed," she said. Palin had hoped to "talk to Americans without the filter," she added.

Yet the little 1,100-sq.-ft. house is as straightforward as you can get. No high-tech gizmos. No elaborate contortions. The house relies on simple architectural principles -- windows oriented for sunlight, cross breezes for ventilation, overhangs for shade -- basics that were much lauded in the 1940s and '50s, but less emphasized since.

They included large doors that can be opened for cross-breezes. They designed the heating so energy is used and reused within rooms. The living/ dining/kitchen area is one big room heated by a wood stove on rainy days, and the sun on sunny days.

"The public rooms face east, the logic being you want those to heat up with the sun first in the winter and in the summer, you want to avoid the hot western sun.

Mr. Woodruff's modest weekend home on Mayne Island in the southern Gulf Islands chain of British Columbia, took second place in a North America-wide architectural competition for sustainable principles and energy conservation.

"The Gulf Islands House stood out for its elegance and simplicity," juror Robert Rogers of Roger Marvel Architects said in an e-mail interview. "Its sustainable features were subtly woven into the basic program for a small house. Its size alone represents a fundamentally green attitude. We felt that the project was a graceful whole and neatly detailed."

"To say something as simple as the building should be lit throughout the day by the sun becomes a radical position," Mr. Woodruff says. "It's ridiculous, but it does. We have clients who insist on air conditioning. Psychologically in the modern world, people think that air conditioning is fundamental."

SAN ANTONIO -- Sarah Palin questioned Republican presidential candidate John McCain's decision to abandon efforts to win Michigan, a campaign move she only learned about Friday morning when she read it in the newspapers.

In an interview with Fox News Channel Friday, the Alaska governor said she was disappointed that the McCain campaign decided to stop competing in Michigan. In an indication that the vice presidential candidate had not been part of the decision, she said she had "read that this morning and I fired off a quick e-mail" questioning the move.

Word of the McCain campaign's decision to move staff out of Michigan and stop advertising in the state broke around midday Thursday -- the same day as Palin's vice presidential debate against Democrat Joe Biden. The campaign had decided Wednesday night that the $1 million a week it was spending in Michigan wasn't worth it with internal polls showing Democratic nominee Barack Obama approaching a double-digit lead.

Hundreds of galaxy clusters are flowing toward the same spot in the sky beyond the observable universe, a University of Hawaii astronomer and NASA team members have discovered.

The clusters, each with hundreds of millions of stars, are moving at more than 1 million mph toward the constellations Centaurus and Vela, said Harald Ebeling, co-author of a paper on the baffling finding in the Astrophysical Journal Letters.

"It's pretty bizarre," he said in an interview.

Ebeling said the "main culprit" behind the phenomenon seems to be the Shapley Concentration, a giant supercluster made up of about 25 galactic clusters about 700 million light-years away which pulls everything toward it.

But once the clusters reach the Shapley supercluster, he said, they do not subside or reverse -- they defy current cosmic theories and keep on going.

In Thursday night’s debate, Ms. Palin was asked about the vice president’s role in government. She said she agreed with Dick Cheney that “we have a lot of flexibility in there” under the Constitution.

It is hard to tell from Ms. Palin’s remarks whether she understands how profoundly Dick Cheney has reshaped the vice presidency — as part of a larger drive to free the executive branch from all checks and balances. Nor did she seem to understand how much damage that has done to American democracy.

Mr. Cheney has long taken the bizarre view that the lesson of Watergate was that Congress was too powerful and the president not powerful enough. He dedicated himself to expanding President Bush’s authority and arrogating to himself executive, legislative and legal powers that are nowhere in the Constitution.

The Constitution does not state or imply any flexibility in the office of vice president. It gives the vice president no legislative responsibilities other than casting a tie-breaking vote

The response, "hell no." Then he asked me, "well can you please do me a favor?" To which I responded some of the same and we both pointed our fingers at him to call it out.

Also to note, there was at least one person dressed in all black (hood and bandanna too) who was definitely wearing an ear piece.

There was a woman not in your photos who was wearing black clothing (not bloc style but more plainclothes like, maybe sunglasses too, can't quite remember) who was walking by me, not looking directly but I could tell she had me in the peripheral vision. Camera was held down by her waist as if she were 'just carrying it', but I noticed that the lens was pointed near my face as she was nonchalantly walking. I definitely saw her click the shutter at this point.

On September 2nd in St. Paul, the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign (PPEHRC) brought together poor and homeless people of every race, background and age, students, social workers, union members, lawyers, religious leaders, artists and others who stand for social and economic justice. The PPEHRC raised their voices in the “March for Our Lives" to demand “Money for Health Care and Housing, Not for War!”

The rally held at Mears Park and the march that followed were heavily infiltrated by plainclothes law enforcement officers.

Union officials say they took the day to protest after a film crew from the National Rifle Assocation showed up at the Consol mine last week to interview union workers.

They say the crew tried to get union coal miners to speak out against Barack Obama.

The UMWA has endorsed the democratic presidential nominee.

"Consol doesn't let anybody on their property - never," said Safety Committee Member Mark Dorsey, "And for them to let the NRA come on the property and solicit our membership was totally uncalled for. We made our endorsement to our political process and we didn't bother them and they shouldn't be harassing our membership over this."

"This was a surprise visit," explained VP Local 1702, Safety Chairman Eric Greathouse, "and a lot of the miners felt this was a direct slap in the face of the union because they were trying to coerce our people into saying things against Barack Obama."
