Laptop computers packed with evidence allegedly tying Venezuela's leftist President Hugo Chavez to Colombia's Marxist FARC rebels pose a dilemma for the Bush Administration: The fact that the FARC is listed by Washington as a terrorist organization means the laptop data provide cause for the U.S. to add Chavez's government to its list of international sponsors of terrorism, as many conservatives on Capitol Hill are now demanding.

Chavez denies funding the rebels and accuses Colombia of planting the laptops.

But on Thursday, the Paris-based international police agency Interpol reported that its examination of the computers found no evidence that they had been tampered with.

This mission could not have happened without Washington's Approval.

Interpol appeal unmasks US actor as child abuse suspect

A man matching the description of a suspected child abuser who became the target of an international manhunt earlier this week has been arrested in the US.

Wayne Nelson Corliss, 58, was arrested in Union City, New Jersey on Thursday - two days after Interpol published photos resembling him. The actor, whose stage name is Casey Wane, is suspected of sexually abusing at least three boys aged between six and ten in south east Asia between April 2000 and May 2001.

Interpol: Suspected pedophile found by police

(CNN) -- A suspected pedophile who became the subject of an international manhunt earlier this week after an appeal from Interpol has been detained in the United States, a spokesman for the global police agency told CNN Thursday.

"Two days ago, this man's nationality, identity and location were totally unknown," Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble said.

This is a real-life tale with a plot to rival any TV crime drama – a crack medical team has hooked up with Interpol and the Chinese security services to disrupt the deadly trade in counterfeit drugs. Now two Chinese nationals face trial charged with distributing fake versions of the anti-malarial drug artesunate.

Artesunate is the only effective treatment for malaria across much of south-east Asia. It is made by companies including Guilin Pharma of the Guangxi autonomous region in southern China.

But the Guilin product is widely counterfeited, and with seriously ill patients receiving knock-off tablets containing little or no artesunate, people have succumbed to malaria – although the exact death toll remains unknown.

Jackie Selebi, the head of the international police organisation, Interpol, and South Africa's national police chief, is set to be charged with two counts of corruption.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said on Friday that attempts by his legal team to prevent his prosecution had failed.

"A decision has been made, he will be charged with corruption and defeating the ends of justice," Tlali Tlali, a spokesman for the NPA in Cape Town, said.

Selebi, an ally of Thabo Mbeki, the South African president, has denied any wrongdoing.

Selebi's indictment covers a range of offences, including receiving payments from his friend, Glenn Agliotti, a convicted drug smuggler accused of playing a role in the murder of a South African mining magnate, Brett Kebble in 2005.

An investigator probing South African police corruption has been arrested over fraud and perjury charges.

A police spokesman said Gerrie Nel, the law enforcement official leading the investigation into corruption allegations against South Africa's police chief, Jackie Selebi, has been arrested on graft charges (political corruption whereby someone profits personally from the public budget).

The spokesman added the charges included perjury, fraud and "defeating the ends of justice".

I have to start off with my recent perceptions of her. She was a corrupt politician who was more interested in her political legacy than in the welfare of her nation and people. President Bush said today that Bhutto was someone who fought against terrorism. She did so, conveniently, post 9-11. During the mid 1990s she was openly pro-Taliban as the Pakistani government was one of the few nations in the world that recognized that neo-Khawarij regime.

I am disgusted with the US media. Their coverage of Bhutto as some sort of martyr is despicable and inappropriate.

This woman was liable to be arrested at any moment by Interpol because of all the money laundering she and her husband were involved in with 3 to 4 different countries.
