Britian Bank Changes "pants" password

Here’s some food for thought if you think your online banking password is securely hidden from curious eyes at the bank.

A British banking customer, Steve Jetley, phoned up his bank (Lloyds TSB Bank) and discovered that his password “Lloyds is pants” had been changed to “no it’s not” by a bank employee. He had made this password after having an argument with the bank over insurance.

He was then told he was banned from changing it back to “Lloyds is pants” or to another password “Barclays is better” (Barclays is a rival bank). He even tried the word “censorship” but the bank employee refused that one too on the grounds it was too long.

Lloyds claims the employee has now been fired and Mr Jetley has received a full apology. But this incident makes you wonder how many bank employees actually have full unrestricted access to your online banking password.

As the Census Bureau reports that California has the highest number of uninsured people, and Texas has the highest percentage of residents, a McCain adviser utters some remarkably stupid analysis:

But the numbers are misleading, said John Goodman, president of the National Center for Policy Analysis, a right-leaning Dallas-based think tank. Mr. Goodman, who helped craft Sen. John McCain's health care policy [the McCain camp distances themselves], said anyone with access to an emergency room effectively has insurance, albeit the government acts as the payer of last resort

"So I have a solution. And it will cost not one thin dime," Mr. Goodman said. "The next president of the United States should sign an executive order requiring the Census Bureau to cease and desist from describing any American – even illegal aliens – as uninsured.

Instead, the bureau should categorize people according to the likely source of payment should they need care.

"So, there you have it. Voila! Problem solved."

Do The Facts Support John McCain? (An Email To Read & Share)

1)-If you make less than $112,000 a year as an individual (not household income, individual income) you will pay a lot less in income taxes under Obama's proposed tax plan than under McCain's. You make up part of the 80% of Americans in this category.

2)-If you get your health insurance through your employer John McCain wants to treat your benefit as taxable income. That will push many Americans into a higher income bracket meaning you could pay thousands per year more in taxes.

3)-If you think corporations don't pay enough taxes you aren't alone. According to the non-partisan GAO about 2/3 of US Corporations paid no taxes at some point between 1998-2005. Despite this John McCain wants to cut the corporate tax rate by a whopping 10% in addition to increased first year write-offs which will ultimately cost us about 1.3 trillion dollars.

If the facts don't support John McCain, why should you?

Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) might have to borrow money from the Treasury Department to see it through an expected wave of bank failures, the Wall Street Journal reported

The borrowing could be needed to cover short-term cash-flow pressures caused by reimbursing depositors immediately after the failure of a bank, the paper said

The borrowed money would be repaid once the assets of that failed bank are sold.

With a rise in the number of troubled banks, the FDIC's Deposit Insurance Fund used to repay insured deposits at failed banks has been drained

clipper's remarks: McCain's health-care advisor, John Goodman, thinks we should deal with the problem of uninsured Americans by ordering the Census Bureau to stop calling people "uninsured." I kid you not. He says that since pretty much everyone ends up getting the medical care they need somehow or other, no one's really uninsured. If you read the whole post, you'll also see that Goodman is a little confused about how employer-provided health plans work in real life. This is also the same guy who recently said, commenting on health disparities between whites and nonwhites in the U.S., that "doctors just don’t control our over-eating, over-smoking, over-drinking, and shoot-outs in the hood." So I have a solution. And it will cost not one thin dime. The next president of the United States should sign an Executive Order requiring the Census Bureau to cease and desist from describing any American (even illegal aliens) as "uninsured." Instead, the Bureau should categorize people according to the likely source of payment should they need care.

So, there you have it. Voila! Problem solved.

Here is the idea: only people who are denied care are truly uninsured. Everyone who gets care is effectively insured by some mechanism. So instead of producing worthless statistics that people fling around in vacuous editorials and pointless debates, the Census Bureau should produce meaningful numbers, identifying all of the sources of funds people will draw on if they need medical care.

Unbelievable. Emergency room care is NOT health care. These people really are heartless, because they can't be so stupid as to not understand that preventative medicine is not only cheaper, it also saves, lengthens, and improves lives. So they just must be heartless. I don't know what else to call them. Unless I depart from polite discourse.

Number Of Americans In Poverty Up Slightly

(CBS/AP) The Census Bureau reports that 12.5 percent of Americans, or 37.3 million people, were living in poverty in 2007, up from 36.5 million in 2006.

The rate also increased for children under 18 years old (18.0 percent in 2007, up from 17.4 percent in 2006). The rates remained statistically unchanged for those 18-to-64 years old (10.9 percent) and those 65 and over (9.7 percent).

Both the percentage and number of children under 18 years old without health insurance were lower than in 2006 (11.0 percent and 8.1 million, respectively). Although the uninsured rate for children in poverty decreased last year, from 19.3 percent to 17.6 percent, children in poverty were more likely to be uninsured than all children.

Boston (dbTechno) - State government employees in Alabama will reportedly have to begin paying a tax for being overweight or obese.

A deadline has been set for Alabama state government employees to get in shape, or start paying a fat tax, as it is being called.

The fat tax would cost them an extra $25 per month for their health insurance.

Progesterone

Progesterone, often prescribed for women during infertility treatments, is the reproductive hormone progesterone has a number of important purposes.
