clipper's remarks: J'avais déjà utilisé la 1ère version de Terragen sur windows xp, mais depuis que j'ai vista, j'hésite à l'installer... mais ça me dirait bien de l'avoir car je m'étais beaucoup amusé avec, et la nouvelle vesion semble encore plus sympa!

Mandriva Linux 2009 RC1 is available

Mandriva Linux 2009 Release Candidate 1 (code name camelopard) is available on public mirrors now (or will be in the coming hours).

Be careful: this is still a development product, it should not be used in a production environment.

You will find more informations about this release on the wiki. The main new features of RC1 (compared to Beta2) are:

automatic repository configuration and mirror selection in package management tools (powered by aria2);
ath5k replaces madwifi for Atheros wireless cards;
new graphical theme (backgrounds, screensavers);
based on kernel 2.6.27 (rc5 ATM);
KDE 4.1.1;
KDE 3.5.10 (not on ISO);
GNOME 2.23.91 (ie 2.24.0 Beta 2);
new design for installer (not complete yet);
improved system-config-printer;
improved Ia Ora theme for KDE4 (not complete yet);
and many others features and bugs fixes.

Microsoft offers a "taskbar" mode to Windows Media Player (WMP), which sometimes creates problems during WhiteCap installation (the WhiteCap installer displays an error message, but problems can arise if you opt to "ignore" this warning). Fixing this is difficult, since the WMP Taskbar runs in the background whether or not you are using WMP, but try the following steps:

Restart your computer.
With all applications closed, right-click on the middle of your Windows Task Bar (also known as the "Start Bar").
From the right-click menu, select the "Toolbars" menu and ensure that there is NO checkmark next to Windows Media Player.
Re-install WhiteCap.
If this does not work, search your hard drive for a file named WhiteCap_WMP.dll and then delete (or rename) that file prior to re-installing WhiteCap.

Installation

Download Google Earth from the Google Earth website.
The linux version will be automatically chosen when downloading from Ubuntu.

Open a terminal from Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal.

cd into the directory where you saved Google Earth. For example, if you saved it to the Desktop type:

 cd ~/Desktop

Make it executable by typing:

 chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin

Run the installer by typing:

 sudo ./GoogleEarthLinux.bin

Leave the default options and click Begin Install.

Setting up a LAMP server is a common task for systems administrators, and FreeBSD is one of the most reliable and stable operating systems available. You can swap out the L in LAMP with F for FreeBSD to build a fast and reliable Web server.

In this article I assume FreeBSD is already installed. If not, make sure you download the latest stable production version of FreeBSD and run the installer. I recommend choosing the MINIMUM option at the installer screen to quickly install only the most basic and necessary things.
