Precaution:

- Use cleanser daily in night on your skin.

- Develop a habit of using toner daily on your skin. A rose based toner is ideal.

- Use a deep pore cleanser/scrub to reduce blockage of pores.

- Prepare a mixture of cucumber juice and rose water. Apply it with cotton on your face after cleansing to give a toning effect.

Freckles/ Dark Spots

Freckles or dark spots are developed by the repetitive exposure of sunlight to skin. On exposure to sun the pigment present in the inner layer of skin increases causing tanning. In fairer people the pigment gets accommodated in an irregular and patchy form showing in the form of dark spots.

I cannot say enough how honored I am to have met Anita MonCrief, first at RightOnline in Pittsburgh in August, then again at the Defending the American Dream Summit last weekend. She is as down-to-earth as can be even after she became a main target of the Left for abandoning them and blowing one of the first whistles on ACORN.

My dad is a seaman, and he met my mom in one of his travels. One look at my mom's blue green eyes, and I'm sure my dad was a goner. Good thing my mom is into "inner beauty", so it took only a couple of visits in the span of two years, and she agreed to become his wife.

My titos and titas tell me that they were excited when my mom became pregnant. Would they have a pamangkin with blond hair and light eyes? In the end, the strong dugong Pinoy won, and out came I, with black hair and dark dark brown eyes.

Like everyone, I ate cornflakes growing up. Little did I realise lurking behind those crunchy bowls of golden goodness was a perverse health fanaticism at work in the form of cornflakes creator Dr John Harvey Kellogg.

The other story here is fanaticism, in particular the health fanaticism of inner cleansing, de-toxification, colonic irrigation, enemas and the desire to eradicate ones body of internal toxins and pathologies at all costs. Contemporary body cleansing and the detox industry have taken on almost evangelical status, not dissimilar to Kellogg's day, whereby a clean body on the inside represents a clean mind and spirit, a soul worthy of entry into God's Kingdom. Beauty itself, is a parable for a soul that it pure and uncorrupted, ugliness on the other hand can only mean a contaminated and polluted soul.
