Employees have been fired when their employer construed their blog posts as sharing confidential information, making inappropriate comments about the company, or both. Posting company news, pictures, and even making positive comments about a company have cost bloggers their jobs.

How about job seekers? Can having a blog, a personal web site, or an account on a social networking site impact your job search, for better or for worse? It could. One blogger posted recently that he lies in interviews. That wouldn't thrill a prospective employer if they knew about it. Another job seeker's blog mentions that she loves to party all night, drinks to excess on a regular basis, and steals on occasion. Again, not a profile that would thrill most employers.

If it's on your resume, the employer will look at it.

A super-sophisticated space cube of technology - and this one isn't bent on our assimilation. That's probably because it's only five centimeters to a side, and Borg that you can hold in your hand aren't intimidating no matter how much they insist that "size is irrelevant".

The cute little computer is some literally space-age technology, built by the Shimafuji corporation for operation off the planet. Rather ominously like it's Borg brethren, the cube is designed to link up to all known space technologies - those of NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the Japan Aerospace exploration Agency (JAXA, and it's always nice to see an organization prepared to mangle capitalisation for a good acronym).

If you have got George Bush’s track record and John McCain voting 90 percent of the time in agreement with George Bush, then you probably you don’t want to talk about issues either.”

McCain campaign manager Rick Davis told Washington Post editors Tuesday that issues have an impact but not conclusive among undecided voters.

“This election is not about issues,” Davis said. “This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates.”

Davis added that issues will no doubt play a major role in the decisions undecided voters will make but that they won't ultimately be conclusive.

NAROK, Kenya (Reuters) - Maasai goatherd Joseph Nkolia points dismissively at two shallow pools, the only water in a parched stream west of the Kenyan town of Narok.

"It rained yesterday and look at it," he says.

"Two years ago it used to flow strongly through here. Now I often have to get a lorry to bring water from Narok for us and our animals, and it costs a lot." His flock wanders past without bothering to drink the scant brown water.

The stream is a tributary of the Ewaso Ngiro, one of 12 rivers fed from the Mau Complex, Kenya's biggest forest and a vital water catchment in the west of the country.

Destruction of the woodland by rampant illegal settlement, logging and charcoal burning threatens severe damage to Kenya's economy with an impact on energy, tourism, agriculture and water supply to cities and industry.

AIFS International Scholarships

Each semester AIFS offers 40 scholarships of $1,000 to students who demonstrate high academic achievement and write an essay addressing “How study abroad will impact my academic and personal growth.”

To be considered, you must submit the AIFS scholarship application, the program application, the required application fee of $95, official transcripts of all college records to date and an academic reference.

Completed scholarship and program applications must be postmarked by April 15 for Academic Year/Fall Quarter/Fall Semester or October 1 for Spring Quarter/Spring Semester. Students must meet the minimum requirements for the program to which they are applying, have at least a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA, show leadership potential and be involved in extracurricular activities centered on multicultural or international issues.

The American home is ever expanding. In the 1950’s the average American home was 983 square feet; by 2004 it had swollen to 2,349 square feet. Do we really need this much space?

The environmental and societal ramifications of smaller families dwelling in larger homes has yet to be fully realized. Our culture seems to have embraced excess. We live in a bubble disconnected from the reality of the finite supply of land and energy. We are what we own -- bigger homes, bigger cars and bigger Americans.

There is another way. In recent years we have seen a growing number of prefab, smaller and re-purposed dwellings. Dwellings created by recycling older buildings and the green building movement gives us hope.
