A BIG cat expert has contacted the News Telegraph and believes there is a chance our paw-print could have been made by a Tiger.

Paul Westwood, creator of bigcatmonitors.co.uk is a staunch believer that big cats exist in the wild and has researched a number of local sightings during his years in the business.

He says the photograph of our print, taken in Shirley and sent to us by News Telegraph Reader Matt Kennedy, certainly looks like a feline print and is likely to be a Leopard or possibly even a Tiger.

He said: "I'm quite impressed with the picture and I'm edging towards the possibility that it was left by some sort of big cat - possibly a Leopard.

"It does look very similar to a iger print. You might say that sounds daft, but there was a Tiger incident in the UK a few years ago.

Paul hopes to visit the site the photo was taken in the next few days and we will keep website visitors posted on what he finds.

Tags: shirley, england, big-cat, tiger, cryptids, great-britain, mystery, creature, feline

<clipSource>http://www.ashbournenewstelegraph.co.uk/ashbournenewstelegraph/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=324209</clipSource>

Corporate Marital Bliss

clipped by: Maureen Farrell
clipper's remarks: Great article outlining how Disney and Pixar have made it work and how Pixar has maintained some degree of entrepreneurial culture within a large corporation.

Clip Source: www.nytimes.com

Both companies had a history of acrimony, and <A title="More articles about Robert A. Three years after succeeding Eisner - and confounding skeptics in the process - CEO Bob Iger talked to Fortune's Richard Siklos about buying Pixar, pulling Disney (DIS, Fortune 500) out of a creative slump with new megafranchises like "Hannah Montana" and "High School Musical," working with Steve Jobs, and wrestling with the image of a certain mouse. The Disney Studio has pledged to remove smoking from its family-oriented films.

And smoking will be "discouraged" in films aimed at adults released under its Touchstone and Miramax banners.

Mr Iger made the promise in a letter to US congressman Edward Markey. DVDs that show cigarettes will also carry anti-smoking announcements, he added.

Mr Markey described the move as "groundbreaking" and commended Mr Iger for "this important commitment".

Iger says the company will make MMOs and virtual worlds “based on a broad range of our properties” into a bigger priority going forward. Disney’s Pirate of the Caribbean Online is only the first such offering in the works, apparently. “You can imagine living in Buzz and Woody’s toy universe,” Iger added. Whether this means more games only, or includes virtual worlds along the lines of MTV’s Virtual Laguna Beach remains to be seen. But this speech, along with a similar announcement from CBS chief exec Les Moonves, is a good indication that more and more media companies are seeing virtual worlds as an important part of their offerings. This is the new trend in media convergence, as far as I’m concerned. Look for much more of this ahead.

Disney declined to offer any sort of pre-briefing prior to the convention, but a pretty extensive outline of the new platform was reported yesterday in The Wall Street Journal.

The site is expected to showcase Disney content from other properties like movies, TV and music. It will also incorporate a social networking functionality to capitalize on the popularity of competitors like Club Penguin, Neopets and MySpace. If Disney succeeds, it could garner more time spent on the platform and become more attractive to advertising partners. One handicap noted in the WSJ story is a limitation to Disney assets for members building their profiles and other areas of personalization. The site is due to launch later in January.
