The song was chosen as a would-be cute tie-in to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's past—"Barracuda" was her high school nickname.

Only problem, campaign officials failed to ask either the group, Universal Music Publishing or Sony BMG whether the song was fair game to use. It wasn't.

In Europe, free speech may end with neither a bang nor a whimper — but with a lawyerly assist.

It was three years ago this month that the Danish newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, published twelve editorial cartoons satirizing Islamist terrorism. Some Muslim organizations objected. Protests were organized. Danish embassies in Syria, Lebanon, and Iran were set ablaze. Dozens of people were killed. The cartoonists and their editors received death threats from such characters as Mahmoud al-Zahar, a senior Hamas leader in Gaza.

Bitar enthused: “The idea of European lawyers joining us in the campaign and supporting our efforts is tremendous. We are defending Islam in a civilized way and are trying to hold those responsible for the caricatures accountable according to the law.”

MSNBC's Norah O'Donell has given voice to the idea that Sarah Palin would be neglecting her child if she accepts the Republican vice presidential nomination. Of course, she does this by cloaking the question in the imaginary third person "some people are saying"

This is interesting, inasmuch as Norah O'Donnell has 1 1/2 year-old twins -- and a 1-month old. Meanwhile, her husband owns three restaurants -- and she is in Minnesota covering a political convention for a week!

Who's watching her kids during this presidential race this year?

Okay, let's be fair. I honestly don't believe there is anything wrong with Norah covering this race.

If nothing else, I think this illustrates media hypocrisy -- where reporters are criticizing Palin for doing essentially the same thing they, themselves -- as career women -- have decided is best for their families.

clipper's remarks: Why would anyone want to refer to themselves as a pit bull with lipstick? Is that some kind of endearing quality? Is that some kind of characteristic we want in our leadership? I just don't get it. Pit bulls are notorious for attacking innocent bystanders (often children) with fierce vengeance - that's certainly their stigma at least. So why in the world is it something that a potential President of the United States would be proud of comparing herself to? Personally, i find it very scary that she would say that and i honestly find it scary that a room full of people would stand up and cheer the idea.

clipper's remarks: Interesting idea. I don't fully agree with using "promotional products" all the time as everyone has a different "sweet spot" for recognition. Some like a good pat on the back, check or other recognition.

Those "promotional products" also better be things that everyone values. Otherwise, you will be fail to motivate people...

If employees do something worth rewarding, why wait to reward them? By doing it immediately, the result is usually that desired behavior is remembered and repeated. Spur-of-the-moment recognition is also a great way to motivate employees, build team morale and increase productivity.

A thoughtful, yet inexpensive, way to re-ward employees can be achieved by using promotional products. A step further than a pat on the back, promotional products as incentives serve as an operative way to say "thank you," which ultimately cultivates an efficient and collaborative work environment where employees feel involved and appreciated.

The Aleutian Islands (possibly from Chukchi aliat, "island") are a chain of more than 300 small volcanic islands forming an island arc in the Northern Pacific Ocean, occupying an area of 6,821 sq mi (17,666 km²) and extending about 1,200 mi (1,900 km) westward from the Alaska Peninsula toward the Kamchatka Peninsula.

During World War II, small parts of the Aleutian islands were occupied by Japanese forces, when Attu and Kiska were invaded in order to divert American forces away from the main Japanese attack at Midway Atoll. The U.S. Navy, having broken the Japanese naval radio codes, knew that this was just a diversion, and it did not expend large amounts of effort in defending the islands. A few Americans were taken to Japan as prisoners of war.

During the battle of the Aleutian Islands, American forces invaded Japanese-held Attu and defeated the Japanese, and subsequently regained control of all the islands.

Also, if you look at my clips you will see the commander of the Alaska National Guard said Palin has never made a decision about the Guard. So it probably was Schmidt and company keeping McCain away from the press.

Either McCain's vetting process was a complete sham. Or his press operation is the worst in modern presidential politics history. Or some unholy blend of both.

Campbell Brown isn't the story - people are underestimating her, as they always have. No, the story is that Tucker Bounds went on national television without material to answer what is maybe the simplest, most straightforward follow-up question any reporter can ask: "What's your evidence for that assertion?" And I suspect that the reason they canceled Larry King is not to punish CNN (it doesn't work that way) it's that they still couldn't come up with an answer to the question by the time his show aired.
