Men that are middle-aged and who strongly idealize masculinity are almost 50 percent less likely than other men to seek healthcare services, according to a study presented at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association.

<FONT size="2" face="Verdana," sans-serif="" helvetica,="" arial,=""> "This research strongly suggests that deep-seated masculinity beliefs are one core cause of men's poor health, in as much as they reduce compliance with recommended preventative health services," said Kristen W. Springer, the study's primary researcher.

<FONT size="2" face="Verdana," sans-serif="" helvetica,="" arial,=""> The study also noted that education - despite its well-established beneficial effect on health behaviors - also was a moderating factor. Highly educated men with the strongest-held masculinity beliefs were just as unlikely to obtain preventative care as men with lower levels of education.

She concluded by emphasizing the need for more research using samples with greater diversity.

Tags: masculinity, beliefs, impacting, men's, health

<clipSource>http://www.altpenis.com/penis_news/20090711024939sys.shtml</clipSource>

US News Rankings of Top 10 Health Insurance Plans

clipped by: billhartzer
clipper's remarks: U.S. News Media Group and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) have released their annual edition of America’s Best Health Insurance Plans

Clip Source: www.health-plan-news.com

Top 10 Health Insurance Plans in America

Clip Source: www.health-plan-news.com

U.S. News Media Group and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) have released their annual edition of America’s Best Health Insurance Plans. STEFFIE WOOLHANDLER: Right. Well, the private insurers are getting millions of mandatory new customers. The taxpayers are going to give subsidies. It’s not going to make healthcare affordable, but it’s going to cost the taxpayers a lot of money to give these subsidies.

Private health insurance is a defective product. We know from our studies of bankruptcy that the majority of Americans who face medical bankruptcy start their illness with private health insurance but are bankrupted anyway by gaps in coverage, like co-payments, deductibles and uncovered services.

Clip Source: www.democracynow.org

Study: Over 2,200 US Veterans Died in 2008 Due to Lack of Health Insurance

Dr. Steffie Woolhandler,

DR. STEFFIE WOOLHANDLER: Well, we think that the Congress needs to start from scratch on this bill. The reform process in Washington has been hijacked by the private health insurance industry. If you look at the Baucus framework, which was the basis of the Senate bill—it’s on the Senate Finance Committee website. Just right-click on that document, and it turns out the author of the document was Elizabeth Fowler, who’s a former vice president of Wellpoint, the nation’s largest private insurance company, covering 35 million people. So the private insurance industry has hijacked the process. What’s come out of the House, what’s likely to come out of the Senate, is a completely inadequate bill that takes about $500 billion in taxpayer money and hands it over to the private health insurance industry.

In a warning sign for the White House, Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska tells ABC News that he'll vote to block any health care bill that looks like the bill passed by the House.

"Well, first of all, it has more than a robust public option, it's got a totally government-run plan, the costs are extraordinary associated with it, it increases taxes in a way that will not pass in the Senate and I could go on and on and on," Nelson said in an interview that is part of ABC News' Subway Series with Jonathan Karl.

"Faced with a decision about whether or not to move a bill that is bad, I won't vote to move it," he added. "For sure."

The $1.1 trillion price tag on the House bill, Nelson said, is "absolutely" too high.

I believe much of the opposition means well, deep down inside, and they would just as soon see all citizens provided with reasonable health care. For policymakers, as well as those who feel the need to understand, it is important to learn enough so as to balance a sense of empathy and caring with a knowledge that self-sufficiency and motivation are robbed and diminished every time we just submit to the government and let them say, "Come to papa." Of course, it's the intuitive part that lets one know that those are even factors important to investigate, I do believe.
My insight of the day is nothing more than a given basic regarding the concept of insurance. There seems to be a widely held delusion that health care costs are of certain values but that suddenly the buying of insurance coverage someho

Clip Source: worldnewspeakorder.blogspot.com

As someone crawling out of years of ignoring what goes on around me (or, I guess you could say, ignorance) I pretty much am forced to try to learn each new topic from the ground up. At least when it comes to technical matters. Now on the intuitive level, I think I even gain from a lack of certain preconceived perceptions. Things like body language, human behavior, and a fairly accurate B.S. detector. This health care thing is a multi-headed beast, on multiple layers and levels. (Not to mention the multi-headed beasts which are the personalities involved.) It is entangled with, and must involve, your sense of values toward your fellow man, and it requires thought surrounding fundamental American ideas. I think it is likely that much of the most strident resistance is rooted in a valid sense that those in power are not just seeking a progress that progresses the American way, but one that is Post-American Progressive as a brand.

<clipSource>http://worldnewspeakorder.blogspot.com/2009/11/insurance-model-and-honor-system.html</clipSource>

The Ruling Elite

clipped by: mklosinski
clipper's remarks: Not having government run health care gives these people even more reason to get re-elected.
Leave no incumbent in office.

Clip Source: www.cnsnews.com

(CNSNews.com) – More than 200 amendments were rejected by the House Rules Committee ahead of Saturday's vote on the Democrats' health care bill, including 11 that would have required members of Congress and other government officials to be enrolled in the same federal insurance plan proposed for the American people.

Critics of the health care bill said they offered the 11 amendments – including some that would require the president, vice president, and Supreme Court justices to give up their Federal Employees Health Benefit Program (FEHBP) to enroll in the ‘public option’ or Medicaid – to showcase the problems with the massive legislation.
