You hunt down an employee because what you want is locked behind a glass door. At least you thought it was there. The store associate comes over, opens the case, looks around for a minute and then gives you the bad news.

Finally, there it is. The display model sitting in plain site.

After roaming around the store to find the department that your specific item is in, the search begins. Looking and walking down every isle in this department hunting for todays shopping goal.

Upon entering the store, there it is again. The store flyer with all the good deals in it. It never fails that what you want is right there on the front page starring at you. This gets you even more excited.

If you are anything like the average human being it is a pretty safe bet that there are two things that you hate doing- your accounts and your taxes. However there is no getting away so you just have steel yourself to tackle them. You have a choice of doing it the old-fashioned way with pen and paper or use one of the innumerable simple accounting software programs that are available.

You could of course set up an accounting template for yourself on a spreadsheet program such as Excel but few of us have the time or the inclination. Also a small business cannot afford the services of a full-time accountant and must necessarily rely on software.

I love Cakewrecks. I’m totally addicted. This week, they’ve highlighted a totally hideous Kwanzaa cake by Sandra Lee made with pre-made angel food cake, store-bought icing, and, obviously, corn nuts. Well, Sandra calls them “acorns” but the recipe calls for corn nuts. It also calls for popcorn and pumpkin seeds. It would appear the hate mail about this cake was so numerous that Food Network pulled the recipe, but with a little digging you can still find it floating around. In case you have always dreamed of a corn nut-cake hybrid, the recipe is at the bottom of the post.

Westboro Baptist Church, a hate group that travels around the country holding anti-gay rallies, protested outside the school attended by President Obama's children on Monday morning.

The "church," run by Fred Phelps and composed largely of his extensive family, is known for staging its events for maximum publicity and controversy. In the past, members have demonstrated outside troops' funerals. Recently they have been targeting Jewish temples. Now they're aiming their vitriol at Washington-area schools -- including Sidwell Friends, where Malia and Sasha Obama are students.

A message on Westboro's website refers to the Obama children as "satanic spawn" of a "murderous bastard." Along with various schools, the church is also protesting outside the White House, the World War II memorial, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission field office.

Protesters were carrying signs with anti-gay, anti-abortion and anti-Obama slogans, slowing down traffic all along Wisconsin Avenue.

I have reported on many occasions on the number of death threats Rifqa Bary has been receiving from Muslims bent on enforcing the death penalty for apostasy. I spent some time last night with a former Muslim and now a believer in Christ. Safeyia was a young, lovely woman, much like Rifqa, who spoke of the terrible difficulties apostates face. Safeyia came to Texas for "An Evening with Pamela Geller". Safeya lives under a fatwa her uncle issued on her.

The jihad against Rifqa is the same violent ideology that mowed down the righteous men and women at Fort Hood. Would General Casey worry about insulting Muslim sensibilities by attempting to keep safe victims of apostasy fatwas and honor killings?

It’s not often that I agree with Tom Friedman, and even in this instance my agreement comes with heavy qualifiers.

Administrations of both parties have approached the conflict as an apology for close ties with Israel, perhaps as a means of maintaining diplomatic credibility with Arab and Muslim nations in the region. Well, that hasn’t worked out very well, has it? The nations that hate us still hate us, and the nations that sell us oil would still sell us oil anyway. (We get more from Canada and Mexico, anyway.)

The Israelis have gone farther on several occasions, including especially with Bill Clinton, only to have Yasser Arafat reject their concessions and call for armed intifada instead.

The Israeli-Palestinian peace process will never move forward under the current conditions because the Palestinians put terrorists in charge of their pseudo-state.
