If you want us to buy, then have enough informed sales people to help us and get us through the lines quicker!

"It's not rocket science. To make customers happy, all you need to do is offer high-quality goods at competitive prices and staff your stores with a sufficient number of well-trained personnel to ensure a smooth shopping experience."

Clip Source: www.latimes.com

This week, electronics heavyweight Best Buy launched a nationwide marketing campaign under the banner "They'll be happy, you'll be happy, we'll be happy."

What they're saying is that the company will bend over backward to help you shop for gifts this holiday season and will do whatever it takes to ensure that gift recipients are pleased with what they get.

That's the idea anyway. But after visiting a couple of Best Buy stores and chatting with customers, I'd say the company still has some work to do on the happiness front.

"The trade-off is that you get the selection and square footage, but you have to hunt to find someone to help you,"

"I had to hunt to find someone to help me."

You know what I mean: Epic lines at the cash register. Salespeople who don't have a clue about what they're selling or are nowhere to be found when you have a question.

Customer support that makes you feel like an uninvited dinner guest

The task of raising a child is a tremendous, lifelong responsibility, which no one should undertake unwittingly or unwillingly. Procreation is not a duty: human beings are not stock-farm animals. For conscientious persons, an unwanted pregnancy is a disaster; to oppose its termination is to advocate sacrifice, not for the sake of anyone’s benefit, but for the sake of misery qua misery, for the sake of forbidding happiness and fulfillment to living human beings."

"By what right does anyone claim the power to dispose of the lives of others and to dictate their personal choices?" ---- This quote is precisely the way I feel about mandating people to buy health care / insurance! I agree we need reform (of some type), but not to mandating coverage with penalties.

Clip Source: aynrandlexicon.com

An embryo has no rights. Rights do not pertain to a potential, only to an
actual being. A child cannot acquire any rights until it is born. The living
take precedence over the not-yet-living (or the unborn).

Abortion is a moral right—which should be left to the sole discretion of the
woman involved; morally, nothing other than her wish in the matter is to be
considered. Who can conceivably have the right to dictate to her what
disposition she is to make of the functions of her own body?

Never mind the vicious nonsense of claiming that an embryo has a “right to
life.” A piece of protoplasm has no rights—and no life in the human sense of
the term. One may argue about the later stages of a pregnancy, but the
essential issue concerns only the first three months. To equate a potential
with an actual, is vicious; to advocate the sacrifice of the latter to the
former, is unspeakable . . . .

<clipSource>http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/abortion.html</clipSource>

the revealing of freedom

clipped by: cresvumom
clipper's remarks: As Evey struggles to comprehend V's understanding of love, so Lori struggles to understand how her husband can believe that sealing her memories away was a charitable act of love.

Clip Source: www.imsdb.com

                              V

Don't you realize what you did to

You were already in a prison.
You've been in a prison all your
                    life.

                              EVEY
Shut up! I don't want to hear it.
                    I wasn't in a prison. I was happy!
                    I was happy here --

                              V
                    Happiness is the most insidious

                    what's not good enough?!

                              V
You were born in a prison, Evey. I
didn't put you there. I just
showed you the bars. You've been
in a prison so long, you no longer
                    believe there's an outside world.

                    to hear it!

                              V
                    That's because you're afraid, Evey.
You're afraid because you can feel
freedom closing in on you. You're
                    afraid because freedom is

It’s the season of mists, mellow fruitfulness — and comfort food. But try to
resist — or, at least, don’t go for the traditional, stodgy, fat-laden
offerings. Research published last week in the British Journal of
Psychiatry (BJP) showed that people who ate a Mediterranean-style
diet (fruit, vegetables, pulses, cereals and olive oil) were 30 per cent
less likely to get depressed than those whose diet was laden with processed
and high-fat foods. And since the No 1 rule for keeping your mood on an even
keel is to eat regularly during the day, you can take comfort from the fact
that the research doesn’t advocate starving yourself.

The key is to stay off fast-release carbohydrates such as croissants with
jam, cereal bars, muffins, sugary cereals and sweet drinks. These are
digested rapidly, giving your blood glucose an exaggerated spike, which is
swiftly followed by a low.

Fear
Fear is the number one thing that will hold you back in life. And fear comes in primarily two forms:

3. Arrogance

2. Attachment

4. Dogma
Dogma is a very dangerous thing. It is where you become so blinded to a way of thinking that you are closed off to all other possibilities. It is where you accept something as fact without taking the time to really establish whether or not it accurate. And, like all things here today, dogma is holding you back in a big way.

5. Money

Most of the time it is your own negative emotions that hold you back in life. The opportunities for happiness and success are out there, you just need to make sure you are willing and able to get them. If anyone has any other thoughts about things that hold us back in life please drop a comment and let us know.

fear of failure; and

fear of success

Tags: problem

<clipSource>http://www.thedailymind.com/success/5-things-that-are-holding-you-back-in-life/</clipSource>

Taking a break breaks the tedium

clipped by: chetler
clipper's remarks: I find this is true with favorite foods: having them occasionally is much more satisfying and I enjoy the flavors. We quickly adjust to a new life circumstance—for better or worse—and consider it normal. Although this helps us when our situation worsens, it means that when circumstances improve, we soon become hardened to new comforts or privileges. Scoring air-conditioning, a bigger house, or a fancy title gives us only a brief boost in happiness before we start to take it for granted. As Aldous Huxley wrote, “Habit converts luxurious enjoyments into dull and daily necessities.” That’s the hedonic treadmill.

One cure for this “hedonic treadmill” is deprivation. Obama offers the false promise of free honey " beckoning Americans inside the gates of the plantation herding them into the field to work with the goal of collecting sweat to “redistribute” for the common good.

In an effort to retain power through, “leveling the social and economic playing field” Obama’s slave owner policy initiatives tether Americans to a ball and chain style of socialistic governance that is realized by enslaving those who would otherwise be free. The President’s utopian aspiration is on track to transform Americans into chattel trapped within a restrictive dependency, robbing us of God-given liberty, preventing the acquisition of property and thwarting individual pursuit of happiness.

Obama refuses to appreciate that the type of collectivist schema he campaigns for fosters a shadow of the slavery his wife’s ancestors struggled

Clip Source: jeannie-ology.com

Barack Obama recently said, “I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slave owners.” It was while on the campaign trail that Michelle Obama reconnected with relatives and became aware that on her father Fraser Robinson’s side her great-great-great grandparents toiled as slaves in mosquito infested rice fields in the low country of South Carolina

If not for the dichotomy of the overbearing plantation-owner attitude both she and Barack Obama demonstrate–Michelle Obama’s inspiring roots would otherwise be compelling.

Obama’s approach toward government indicates that he identifies with the slave owners not with the slaves who reside in Michelle’s family tree. Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.”

Tags: 0bama, ball & chain socialistic governance, collectivist ideology, fascism, michelle-the blood of slaves & slave owners, redistribute for the common good

<clipSource>http://jeannie-ology.com/?p=3723</clipSource>

Send Online Gift to Hyderabad for Birthdays

clipped by: giftsindia
clipper's remarks: This article discusses about sending online birthday gifts to Hyderabad. libertarian streak. It was Paine who wrote that “society in every
state is a blessing, but government, even in its best state, is but
a necessary evil.” And it was Paine, in Common Sense, who
declared: “Some writers have so confounded society with government,
as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are
not only different, but have different origins. Society is produced
by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes
our happiness POSITIVELY by uniting our affections, the latter
NEGATIVELY by restraining our vices. The one encourages
intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first is a patron,
the last a punisher.”

<clipSource>http://reason.com/archives/2007/06/12/claiming-paine/singlepage</clipSource>

Republicans Need to Dump the Neoconservatives

clipped by: blueridge
clipper's remarks: The republicans need a "tea party" within their own camp! The Bush and present GOP "conservatives" are pushing big government Statism as much as Democrats, with only a different slant. Wars for democracy are a key element of both parties now.

There is an insidious philosophy underlying this acceptance of the "natural" growth of statism. Neoconservative columnist David Brooks wrote ... we need "a vigorous One Nation Conservatism ... by making the nation great, individuals are able to join their narrow concerns to a larger national project."

Actually, it was originally the Democrats that used to believe in curtailing the powers of the Federal government. (This was after the Civil War where they were called Dixie-crats).

See this related Clipmark: Danger--America Becoming Statist, First Bush Now Obama

Clip Source: www.latimes.com

The GOP should dump the neocons

Limited-government conservatives have been undermined by big-government neoconservatives.

The founders envisioned a federal government constitutionally limited to defending our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. For that to happen, we must have at least one political party that strongly advocates limiting the power of government. For much of the 19th century, that party was the Democrats. For the early part of the 20th century and from the early 1960s through 1988, that party was the Republicans.

Today, it is difficult to find noninterventionists in either party.

It is important to realize that neocons are not just nation-building, America-first advocates. They like big government across the board.

As for the GOP, it has outwardly abandoned the limited-government principles of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.

What happened to the Republicans? Well, the two Bush presidencies didn't help.

Tags: republicans, democrats, neoconservatives, constitution, limited government, statism

<clipSource>http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-crane4-2009nov04,0,277258.story</clipSource>

The 5 secrets of happy families

clipped by: wiccantexan

Clip Source: www.cnn.com

In the hubbub of life with kids, it's amazing how fragile happiness can seem.

One minute everyone is enjoying breakfast together, and the next the orange juice is toppled and the drawing is ruined and nobody wants the pancakes anymore.
