Flags Were Key Link to Cop Slaying, Bombings

A search of Monfort's apartment this morning turned up evidence that police say connects the man to the Oct. 22 bombing and arson of the maintenance yard, where three police cars and an RV used as a mobile precinct were damaged, according to Assistant Seattle Police Chief Jim Pugel. A note threatening to kill police officers was left at the bombing site, sources had said earlier.

Pugel said an item found at the maintenance yard was similar to one found near the shooting scene. Law-enforcement sources said the item was an American flag.

News reports at the time said fliers also were left at the maintenance yard referring to an anti-police-brutality rally and citing the case of a King County sheriff's deputy accused of assaulting a teenage girl in a SeaTac holding cell.

An American flag left at the scene of Officer Timothy Brenton's slaying on Halloween and at a city maintenance yard where four police vehicles were torched on Oct. 22 gave investigators a key link between the two crimes even before a Tukwila man was identified as the suspect.

Detectives are now trying to determine why the man suspected of both crimes, Christopher John Monfort, 41, held a grudge against police that went from destructive to lethal in the span of nine days.

Monfort was shot Friday afternoon outside his Tukwila apartment after police said he pulled a gun on detectives. He was listed in serious condition this morning at Harborview Medical Center.

In addition to creating badass awesome costumes, the parents of these junior Spartans of Thermopylae were resourceful as hell. Example: their shields were made out of the lids from formula containers. Selfridges offering psychic lessons

A department store is launching a new psychic school to help customers learn about their spiritual powers.

Selfridges will charge £30 per person for the two-hour sessions at its Oxford Street, London, branch.

Class titles include: Five steps to intuition, introduction to colour, introduction to the chakras and a crystal workshop.

The psychic school will be run by the Psychic Sisters consultation service which launched at Selfridges in April.

Its purpose it to help shed light on how customers can tap into their psychic powers.

"The aim is to enlighten rather than turn students into fully-fledged teachers or psychics themselves," a Selfridges spokesman said.

The classes and workshops launch on Halloween, with a maximum of eight people able to attend each session.

SEATTLE - The man who shot a Seattle police officer to death on Halloween is likely someone who underwent a significant personal crisis in the past and may often have been outspoken about a deep personal grievance, police said Thursday.

And investigators say it's believed he used a Datsun 210 with a model year of 1980 to 1983 to carry out the shooting of Officer Tim Brenton near the intersection of 29th Avenue and East Yesler Way.

Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in).

So what significance do Witches have with Halloween?

Witches believe that Halloween is a time of the endings of relationships and bad situations and it is the time when one can see the glimmer of hope in the future. There are as many concepts attached to this holiday as any other, truly a time of remembrance of our ancestors and all those who have gone before.

So do Witches really exist?

After the traditional ritual, all of them were labelled as ’sinful women’ or ‘devil women’, and were then brought out to an isolated location in the surroundings of Seya village. They were forcibly segregated from their husbands and children, and forced to reside in the jungle where they lacked basic facilities for day-to-day living. Many of the women have reportedly suffered from malnutrition, mental health issues and are in urgent need of help and support.

Lamenting the Decline of Bonfire Night

As you might have guessed, if you are a regular reader of Fancy Dress UK, I simply adore dressing up in fancy dress costumes.

Therefore, you may have assumed that I would be extremely pleased with the fact that Halloween has simply exploded in this country in recent years

Well, yes and no!

I was somewhat saddened to hear the news that this rapid rise in popularity has come at a price – for it seems that with the rise of Halloween has come the decline of that other great autumnal festival, Bonfire Night.

And that is a real shame. Unlike many European countries, Britain does not have too many traditions left that are peculiar only to us – Bonfire Night is one of the few. It celebrates the foiling of perhaps the most infamous act of terrorism on these shores and if that is not worth remembering, then surely happy childhood memories are.
