Rick Sanchez’s lead-in to his next segment just now on CNN:

“Wesley Clark tried to Swiftboat John McCain today.”

I’m liveblogging. He goes on to say:

“It will reverberate for weeks. Wes Clark tried to diss McCain’s military record, that his service doesn’t qualify him to be president.”

Rick Sanchez is mad.

No, not mad…just a huge partisan hack. Now that “swift-boating” has entered the vernacular, let us remember that the original SwiftBoat Veterans for “Truth” were for the most part neither in their hope to take down Kerry’s candidacy. Has Wesley Clark in some way made any untrue allegations in saying that being a POW and a non-combat era fighter pilot does not necessarily qualify you for the highest elected office in the land?

Unbelievable. Wesley Clark just destroys the media narrative that being a prisoner of war is somehow the “experience” necessary to be Commander in Chief, much to the dumbfounding of host Bob Schieffer. It’s a fantastic appearance–much like this earlier one that Jesse at GroupNews recounts:

The media simply couldn’t argue the POINT, which Clark made clear without saying word one directly about them to anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear, that they have been lazy goof offs who are brutally biased for McCain, against Obama, and are not doing their damn jobs. Or they would already have reported this obviously well-grounded assessment/interpretation about McCain’s national security ability — “Largely Untested and Untried” — over which Clark was taking them to school. They couldn’t argue the actual point. It was that clear, that obvious, that elegant a takedown. In effect, Clark’s hit on McCain took out two targets with one shot.

Moreover, Diablo fan website DiabloII.net reports that Blizzard's game announcement will be Diablo III, the long-awaited next title in Blizzard's hack-and-slash RPG series.

The site claims to have confirmation of the forthcoming announcement from "inside sources," but does not specify whether the information came from within the company or an external source.

Speculation flared this week over teaser images posted on the front page Blizzard's website, which many believed to contain possible connections to the anticipated hack-and-slash sequel.

Add Explorer Folder Views to the XP Desktop

I always wondered why “VIEW” menu is not displayed on desktop, its displayed in each folder but not on desktop. I wanted to enable it on desktop so that I can set the desktop icons view, like Thumbnails, Small Icons, List, etc. That’s why yesterday I was playing with Shell32.dll file in Resource Hacker and found a way to enable it on desktop too after 2 hours r&d.

1. Open %windir%\System32\Shell32.dll file in Resource Hacker.

2. Goto: Menu -> 215 -> 1033.

3. In right-side pane, replace the line saying:

POPUP “&View”, 28674, MFT_STRING, MFS_ENABLED, 0

to:

POPUP “&View”, 0, MFT_STRING, MFS_ENABLED, 0

i.e., you have to only change the ID 28674 to 0. It can also be done by deleting the text after “&View” and after compilation RH will automatically add the remaining part.

4. Now click on Compile Script button and save the file.

Now after restarting the PC, you’ll see the VIEW menu on desktop and it’ll work without any problem.

Dutch security researchers rode the London Underground free for a day after easily using an ordinary laptop to clone the "smartcards" commuters use to pay fares, a hack that highlights a serious security flaw because similar cards provide access to thousands of government offices, hospitals and schools.

There are more than 17 million of the transit cards, called Oyster Cards, in circulation. Transport for London says the breach poses no threat to passengers and "the most anyone could gain from a rogue card is one day's travel." But this is about more than stealing a free fare or even cribbing any personal information that might be on the cards.

Oyster Cards feature the same Mifare chip used in security cards that provide access to thousands of secure locations. Security experts say the breach poses a threat to public safety and the cards should be replaced.

When it comes to health insurance, Valencia resident Tova Hack's first problem is that she works part time and thus needs an individual policy for medical coverage because her employer doesn't offer one.

Her second problem is that she's a woman.

Hack, 22, a grad student at Cal State Northridge, is insured by Blue Shield of California. She just found out that the cost of her bare-bones, high-deductible insurance plan is going up 20%, to $119 a month from $99.

But the real surprise -- which Blue Shield neglected to point out in its recent letters to individual policyholders but which was apparent from a close reading of an accompanying chart -- is that men and women will now be charged different rates.

"Our egghead actuaries crunched the numbers based on all the data we have about healthcare," explained Tom Epstein, a Blue Shield spokesman. "This is what they found."

this is purely a matter of Blue Shield deciding that women, as a general rule, are more expensive to insure than men.

Citibank Hack Blamed for Alleged ATM Crime Spree

A computer intrusion into a Citibank server that processes ATM withdrawals led to two Brooklyn men making hundreds of fraudulent withdrawals from New York City cash machines in February, pocketing at least $750,000 in cash, according to federal prosecutors.

The ATM crime spree is apparently the first to be publicly linked to the breach of a major U.S. bank's systems, experts say.

Credit card and ATM PIN numbers show up often enough in underground trading, but they're invariably linked to social engineering tricks like phishing attacks, "shoulder surfing" and fake PIN pads affixed to gas station pay-at-the-pump terminals.

That language suggests that the attackers may not have had access to stored account numbers and PINs, but instead were tapping into transactions in real time to vacuum up PIN codes as they flew past.
