Is it possible to learn how to sing like a pro at home, without hiring an expensive personal singing coach?

The answer is surprisingly Yes, but a few warnings apply.
In a nutshell, "learn singing at home" products and singing software are now ubiquitous, and while some packages are amazingly effective, others are ineffective, or just short of being outright scams.

You will be amazed at what an effective program can do to your singing. No matter if you are a complete novice or a seasoned pro - there are a program or two out there that can really help you. In fact - several Grammy (and other prize) winners are "graduates" of learn to sing programs!

Natalie Cole released from hospital, at home in LA

NEW YORK - Natalie Cole, who suffers from hepatitis C, is resting at her Los Angeles home after being released from the hospital earlier this week, Cole's representative said Friday.

Publicist Maureen O'Connor said the Grammy-winning singer checked out several days ago and is "feeling a lot better."

The 58-year-old daughter of jazz legend Nat King Cole entered a New York hospital Sept. 12.

O'Connor said Cole has been receiving kidney dialysis that isn't related to her struggle with hepatitis C, a liver disease spread through contact with infected blood.

Cole announced in July that she was suffering from the disease, revealed to her during a routine examination, and that it was likely caused by her drug use years ago.

At the time of Cole's hospitalization, O'Connor blamed the singer's problems on the medicine she had been taking and a busy publicity schedule to promote her new album, "Still Unforgettable."

The split was amicable, said Nicole Perna, a publicist for the pair.

The 44-year-old actress and 55-year-old singer have been engaged since March 2006. They first started dating in 1992 and spent five years together, Perna said, then rekindled their romance in 2005.

The couple's split was first reported by People.com.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Isaac Hayes, the baldheaded, baritone-voiced soul crooner who laid the groundwork for disco and whose "Theme From Shaft" won both Academy and Grammy awards, died Sunday afternoon after he collapsed near a treadmill, authorities said. He was 65.

Hayes was pronounced dead at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis an hour after he was found by a family member, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said. The cause of death was not immediately known.

With his muscular build, shiny head and sunglasses, Hayes cut a striking figure at a time when most of his contemporaries were sporting Afros. His music, which came to be known as urban-contemporary, paved the way for disco as well as romantic crooners like Barry White.
