"But going forward, we need to do much more than hopscotch across the web, split-focused and pulled this way and that by choice distractions. We cannot mistake fragmented, diffused attention as avenues of higher thought-or deeper relationships."

"Instead, we need to do better at cultivating deep focus, keen awareness and meta-cognitive "executive" attention-the package of skills that is crucial to moving forward in a complex, high-tech age," says Jackson. "If we can 'green' the earth, we can clean up our noisy, interrupt-driven environment, and set the stage for a renaissance of attention for all."

Clip Source: www.brainmysteries.com

Don't blame the Blackberry

Industrial age inventions such as the cinema or telegraph triggered the first global mobility, virtual relations and split-focused work. That's why we now live in a world of 24/7 living, bountiful multitasking and portable relations and thought.

Set the stage for focus. Of course, The Guardian was produced naturally.

The star, called V838 Monocerotis, has long since faded back to obscurity, but observations of a phenomenon called a "light echo" around the star have uncovered remarkable new features over the following years (this animation covers two years' time). The light echo is light from the earlier explosion echoing off dust surrounding the star. Light from the outburst traveled to the dust and then was reflected to Earth. Because of this indirect path, the light arrived at Earth months after light from the star that traveled directly from the star. Its all about the package? That's it? Just fix the package and we nailed it? Whether the author is right or wrong it turns me off when people boil an issue down do one simple, systemic problem that no one on earth can see...except for them.

Clip Source: publishing2.com

In response to the launch of Google’s Fast Flip, I observed that Google is correctly focused on creating a new user interface for news, when most media companies are not. A lot of people responded that Fast Flip is not an innovative or effective UI for news — which may be true, but that misses the point entirely.

It doesn’t matter so much whether Google succeeds or fails with this particular experiment. You can also keep a list of products and send them to yourself or a friend (because sometimes you just need to check things out on a bigger screen.)

Oh, you wanted to do all that other stuff too?
    We know!
