Drawing equivalences between right-wingers and left-wingers is not a valid exercise. The Democrats (and Liberals) see their differences from the Republicans (and Conservatives) as a nuanced disagreement of ideals, while Republicans see it as an absolute battle of Good vs. Evil. They aren't opposing Obama because they disagree with his platform; they are against him because they think he's evil. He's been called the Anti-Christ (critical study of Revelations will reveal that he's too old). At rallies, people are screaming to kill him, and cut off his head. It's come to the point where you can't even take it for granted that Republicans accept the fact that Obama is human, just like McCain. This Republican base is acting on a very primitive level, like a lizard-brain, with no critical thought about what they're doing or why they oppose him.

Clip Source: www.idrewthis.org

Clip Source: www.idrewthis.org

	 Fear and loathing

posted by Liberal Eagle at 1:57 PM

You see a lot of false equivalencies in the media. It's sort of their creed: if you report that Republicans have done something that makes them look bad, you must immediately find a way to say that Democrats do it also. That is how you seem "fair." If the Republicans are, for instance, lying through their teeth, and the Democrats aren't, you're obligated to say something like "Republicans are claiming that Ted Kennedy is a serial killer, but Democrats today used a very generous interpretation of their tax plan, so both sides lie."

And this is my point. The conservative base doesn't see politics as a clash of competing legitimate ideas. It sees politics, and everything else, as a clash between good and evil. When George W. Bush said "you're either with us or you're against us," he wasn't just talking about that one moment in history. Conservatives think that about literally everything.

<clipSource>http://www.idrewthis.org/</clipSource>

Better cereal choices for kids

clipped by: infopunk

Clip Source: www.consumerreports.org

Better cereal choices for kids?

Some child-focused products are 50 percent sugar

Whether you’re shopping for actual or overgrown kids, we found four cereals with kid-focused marketing that scored Very Good
in our new nutrition rating system, based on product label information. Cheerios, Kix, Honey Nut Cheerios (all General Mills),
and Life (Quaker Oats) earned points for relatively lower sugar and higher dietary fiber, the two categories we weighed as
most important. Cheerios topped the list with only 1 gram of sugar and a healthful 3 grams of fiber per serving.

Just because the Great Depression is the worst scenario we’ve yet to experience, that sure doesn’t mean that it is the worst we could experience. With astonishing amounts of governmental and personal debt sloshing around the world in a hugely globalized economy, who’s to say that we aren’t now headed for the Even Greater Depression?

<clipSource>http://www.smirkingchimp.com/thread/17848</clipSource>

sux0r

clipped by: h4ck3rm1k3
clipper's remarks: Naive Bayesian categorization

Clip Source: www.sux0r.org

            Naive Bayesian categorization
is the ouija board of mathematics. Known for being good at filtering junk mail, the Naive Bayesian
algorithm can categorize anything so long as there are coherent reference
texts to work from. For example, categorizing documents in relation to a vector
of political manifestos, or religious holy books, makes for a neat trick.
More subjective magic 8-ball categories could be "good vs. bad" or

After nearly a decade of excessive borrowing and lax financial regulation, the economy is in the grips of a painful deleveraging process. Bank failures, home foreclosures, credit card delinquencies — these variables and others have brought the U.S. economy to a virtual standstill.

Against this dire backdrop, we thought it would be a good time to step back from the drama of Wall Street and Washington and unemotionally reassess the prospects of the U.S. economy. Below is a list of items that we believe show what is right with the United States from an economic and market perspective, offered in an effort to help investors think rationally about the economy’s future.

1. But they have faded from history.
So we look like losers, too.
And we aren't."

Clip Source: ezinearticles.com

Why do we need hope? I mean, we all know that while that song about hope, that nice motivational lecture you last attended, that movie you saw, that news report you saw where justice had been delivered finally, are feel good factors with a low shelf life. Then, before you know it, darkness descends again. Stuff happens to people who do no wrong.

Psychos turn enemies and friends turn psychos.

nothing prepares us for the evil present in good, and the wrongs the rights commit.

Why not join the bandwagon and become as indestructible a destroyer as you can.
