The pet store was selling them for five cents a piece. I thought that
odd since they were normally a couple thousand each. I decided not to
look a gift horse in the mouth. I bought 200. I like monkeys.

I took my 200 monkeys home. I have a big car. I let one drive. His
name was Sigmund. He was retarded. In fact, none of them were really
bright. They kept punching themselves in their genitals. I laughed.
Then they punched my genitals. I stopped laughing.

I herded them into my room. They didn’t adapt very well to their new
environment. They would screech, hurl themselves off of the couch at
high speeds and slam into the wall. Although humorous at first, the
spectacle lost its novelty halfway into its third hour.

Two hours later I found out why all the monkeys were so inexpensive:
they all died. No apparent reason. They all just sorta’ dropped dead.
Kinda’ like when you buy a goldfish and it dies five hours later. Damn
cheap monkeys.

Police save goldfish from blender-art exhibit

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) -- Police on Friday removed from an exhibition a work of art with goldfish as the focal point after an animal rights group complained that the fish were in peril.

The creation by artist Marco Evaristti consisted of goldfish swimming inside regular kitchen-blenders. Exhibition visitors could switch on a blender, transforming the content to fish soup, the Ritzau news agency reported.

Police decided to remove the item after consulting the local veterinarian in the Danish town of Kolding.

Murderer to be turned into fish food

A convicted murderer on death row will have his body turned into fish food and fed to goldfish, all for the sake of art.

Gene Hathorn, 47, who was convicted of killing his father, stepmother and stepbrother in 1985, has given his consent to artist Marco Evaristti to use his body as an "art installation" in part of a wider project on capital punishment.

Should Hathorn's final appeal fail, Mr Evaristti would deep-freeze Hathorn's body and then turn it into fish food which visitors at the exhibition could feed to goldfish.

Mr Evaristti, a Chilean-born artist living in Denmark, hopes to begin work within a year if Hathorn is refused an appeal for the third time.

The pair met when Mr Evaristti was researching the longest serving inmates on Texas' infamous death row.

He first visited Hathorn in April this year and when he first suggest the idea to Hathorn, he apparently agreed immediately.

Death art: The goldfish-in-a-blender guy is back
Marco Evaristti's first splash was in 2000 when he put goldfish in 10 electric blenders at a gallery in Denmark and invited visitors to push the buttons. His latest is a deal with Texas death-row inmate Gene Hathorn, 47, who is on his final appeal of a three-murder conviction, and if the appeal fails, Evaristti will have the right to freeze Hathorn's body and chop it up as food for visitors to feed to fish. I recently celebrated another birthday and one of the comic cards I received illustrates a great negotiation lesson. Picture a small goldfish swimming in the fish tank. Strapped to the goldfish is a shark's fin, which protrudes out of the tank several inches.

Now, how much power does this little goldfish have? If the other occupants of the tank accept that fin as real, has the goldfish grown real power or perceptual power?

How much value is there in perceptual power? It is easy to dismiss perceptual power as bluff or fake, but you might be interested in some other's thoughts:

You may stumble across this merry old man if you walk around Tokyo, especially in the Harajuku district.

Ojisan used to be a postman but he always wanted to be an actor and be in the center of attention. As an opportunity to become a professional entertainer never emerged, he decided to claim the spotlight after he retired. These days he walks around dressed as you can see in the photos, wearing goldfish in plastic bottles as earrings and oversized funny hats and tourists just can’t help but take photos of Ojisan, as memorabilia.

New Swiss law protects rights of 'social' animals

Under a new Swiss law enshrining rights for animals, dog owners will require a qualification, anglers will take lessons in compassion and horses will go only in twos.

The new regulation stipulates that aquariums for pet fish should not be transparent on all sides and that owners must make sure that the natural cycle of day and night is maintained in terms of light. Goldfish are considered social animals, or Gruppentiere in German.

Anglers will also be required to complete a course on catching fish humanely, with the Government citing studies indicating that fish can suffer too.

One tabloid newspaper has accused the Government of pandering to the needs of guinea-pigs while ignoring more important animal issues, such as its failure to enforce a ban on dangerous dogs.

It certainly beats watching a lonely goldfish swimming round its tiny bowl.

A giant whale shark behind the world's largest acrylic panel at Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa

It holds a staggering 7,500 tonnes of water - roughly equal to three Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Eighty species live in the Kuroshio Sea tank, including yellow-fin tuna, bonito (a type of large mackerel) and manta rays.

But the daddy of them all is the world's biggest fish, the whale shark - which can grow to be 12 metres long and needs a quarter of a tonne of food every week.

The four whale sharks at Churaumi move around comfortably - swimming diagonally past each other and feeding with their long tails touching the plethora of colourful corals at the bottom of the tank.
