Canon partnered with the American Park Network to offset their carbon with the purchase of trees. The APN then donates trees to local parks and works with community groups to plant them.
It would be a cool deal, but it's not much coming from canon. Not while they continue to produce highly wasteful print cartridges, and as far as I can see still haven't come out with a refillable cartridge. Canon is so so NOT GREEN!

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (AP) -- The buffet offers a variety of pizzas, with whole wheat crust, organic toppings and hormone-free cheese. The salad bar includes some greens and vegetables grown without pesticides in a nearby garden.

And the chef even takes special requests from vegetarians, those wanting gluten-free food or even an extra slice of free-range meat.

This isn't a restaurant in one of Kansas City's trendy neighborhoods, but a cramped room in the basement of the Kansas City Academy, a private school for 6th-12th graders in the city's Waldo district.

The Academy is one of three Kansas City-area private schools that participate in Bistro Kids' Farm 2 School program, which is committed to improving students' health by offering lunches from organic, natural, locally-grown food.

If Democrats are very lucky, McCain will take Kristol's advice.

KRISTOL HAS A PLAN....

Bill Kristol believes his long-time friend, John McCain, is having some trouble, but he devotes his New York Times column today to explaining that McCain still "has a chance" to "surge to victory."

In fact, Kristol has a two-pronged approach to helping the Republican ticket get on track.

Step One involves Sarah Palin.

McCain needs to liberate his running mate from the former Bush aides brought in to handle her --

I'm told McCain recently expressed unhappiness with his staff's handling of Palin

They're supposed to liberate Palin to go on the offensive as a combative conservative in the vice-presidential debate on Thursday

the notion of "liberating" Palin to begin a series of relentless attacks seems misguided. As Joe Klein noted, "I'd wonder about the shelf-life of Palin's efficacy as an attack dog, especially now that the American people have come to see her as the incredible -- as in not credible -- vice presidential choice that she is."

I just watched the most informative news special I have ever watched and learned more in one hour about our economy and it's rise and fall than I ever have before. The name of the program was SAVING OUR ECONOMY, What's Next?, It was on Fox NewsCable channel and it will repeat again tomorrow, Sunday, October 5, at 1 P.M. Central Standard Time. It was a real eye opener for me and I think everyone who wants to know what is going on and how it happened should watch it. Believe me, you don't want to miss it.

So imagine John Dent’s astonishment when he wandered into his kitchen – and spotted a kingfisher calmly perched beside his teapot.

Mr Dent said the bird, no bigger than a sparrow, had a plentiful supply of food outside so he could not explain why it flew in.

He added: ‘He has been coming to our pond since last November. It is full of
little black carp, which are ideal food for a kingfisher. He sits on a post, catches them, brings them out and swallows them head first.’

They are certainly one of the world’s most amazing birds and getting an opportunity to see one up close like this is fantastic.’

Kenny Johnson, a senior credit analyst for Fox Home Entertainment in Garden Grove, Calif., recently took a hard look at his finances -- and canceled his c-television subscription.

With a newborn child at home and growing household expenses, he says the decision saved him and his wife more than $40 a month -- or roughly the increase he is paying at the gas pump every month for his commute to work. The couple held onto their DSL Internet connection, which costs about $38 a month.

Now the Johnsons access most of their television shows online, through Web sites like Hulu.com, in addition to the free broadcasts they pick up over the airwaves. They also bought a set-top box that allows them to stream shows via Netflix.com to their television set, including episodes of NBC's "The Office" and Showtime's "Weeds."

For those of you who don't subscribe to Nutjob Monthly, Mr Wagner has been filing lawsuits to prevent the activation of the Large Hadron Collider - mainly based on the assumption that his time working in a hospital with nuclear medicine and a Hawaiian botanical garden gives him a better understanding of particle physics than almost every scientist on the planet. It turns out this wasn't a great assumption.

(Oct. 1) - It's not your typical mug shot. But then again, this isn't your typical case.

A police photo of an Ohio woman who was arrested while wearing a cow suit has created a buzz on the Internet, making its way around the world, according to oxfordpress.com.

Middletown police say Michelle Allen, 32, was charged with disorderly conduct on Sept. 27 after she was caught impeding traffic and chasing children. Metro.co.uk reports that Allen had been hired to wear the costume to advertise for a local "haunted trail" theme park, but left the job to go on a drinking binge.

Judge Mark Wall sentenced Allen, who also reportedly urinated on a neighbor's front garden during her bender, to 30 days in jail. "Michelle is pretty well known to us. She's 'struggled,' to say the least," Wall told the New York Post.
