Casual games powerhouse PopCap games has some free Peggle for us, in the form of ten new, World of Warcraft themed levels.

The ten new levels, styled after Blizzard’s famous MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Game), consistute a standalone Peggle mini-game that you can download for free from PopCap’s site. The freebie also includes some challenges for advanced Peggle players.

This collaboration between two run-away successes serves to promote a 50% discount on both Peggle and its sequel, Peggle Nights, valid until 17th July.

For those who don’t know Peggle - it is a highly addictive, if not highly active, variant on Pachinko, a favourite Japanese pastime. Give it a go but be careful - it may eat up signficant portions of your free time.

SEATTLE - Microsoft plans to release a beta test of its free computer security program next week and is on track to launch a finished product in the fall.

Microsoft will can its Windows Live OneCare when the full version of its new security freebie ships.

Microsoft also maintains a database of trusted software sources, so the tool won't accidentally block items like Google's web browser toolbar, she said.

The security software will come as a free download, but it won't be part of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, which goes on sale in October. Bundling the two could be fodder for antitrust complaints.

"Referring to Microsoft's basic antivirus and antispyware product as an essential security solution is misleading," said Dave Cole, a senior director at Symantec.

He said PC users need the extra firewall protection, spam fighters and other features that come with subscription security programs.

When KFC promised viewers of Oprah Winfrey free chicken, some fans thought it was too good to be true.

And they were right, within hours there were queues outside the stores and KFC began to run out of their newly launched grilled chicken meals.

KFC bosses say as a result they are currently unable to honor the freebie vouchers which viewers were able to download from Oprah.com

They are asking coupon holders to provide their details and will then mail new vouchers out in stages, hopefully this will calm what some are calling the Chicken Riots of '09.
