Lacing boards are a great way for children to develop basic motor skills, and keep them quiet for a little while! I'm thinking these would be a perfect activity for my little guy while his big brother is in school. They can be pretty expensive, so we decided to make our own (of course!).

Children's Lacing Cards Tutorial

Here's what you'll need:

*Craft foam
*Scissors
*Pen
*Shape to trace
*1/4" hole punch

*Shoelace for lacing

1. We started with one piece of foam sheet from a local craft store. It was only 99 cents and large enough to make four or five lacing shapes.

2. Trace a shape on the foam with a pen. Try using some cute clip art. We used a cute Japanese coaster as our pattern. Cut it out. We used a smaller hole punch on this hedgehog to give him an eye.

3. Use hole punch to punch holes around the edge of the shape. You may choose to mark the holes evenly with a ruler before starting, but it's not necessary.

4. Add your favorite shoelace--that's it!

clipper's remarks: Oh Mint nap mats are padded and lined with nylon and cotton with a ribbon trimmed, soft, fleecy blanket. It rolls up and has a Velcro closure with carrying strap. It has a soft fleece blanket attached and a removable foam pillow. To clean, just remove the pillow and toss the rest in the washing machine.

The best place to embroider the nap mat is on the outside pocket or on the bottom corner of the blanket. Oh Mint nap mats are very sturdy. Measures 18.5" x 46".

Vintage Valje large 11.5" conga from early 1970's made on Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles by Tom Flores. I just mounted a brand new unbleached top quality American cowskin on it, and it sounds superb! I have restored this drum, including refinishing the shell, with sanding, staining, and clear coating, plus gluing a small crack on the inside bottom of the shell. Also polishing the hardware and cleaning oiling the lugs. A real beauty and collectable drum that really sounds great!

I only accept US Postal money orders. I only charge the actual cost of shipping FED-EX ground, depending on your zip code. I provide heavy cardboard box, bubble wrap, and foam peanuts, so I have never had a damaged drum from shipping. Any questions, call Robert at 619 660 6855.

Het is een jaarlijkse prijs die jonge talenten bekroont.

Hugo (Johannesburg, 1976) schotelt ons een beeld van Afrika voor dat anders is dan wij ons voorstellen, een beeld dat soms ongemakkelijk en provocerend is. In 2005 trok hij naar Nigeria om er in contact te komen met een groep rondreizende straatartiesten, van wie hij een foto had gezien. Volgens Nigeriaanse kranten zou het gaan om een stel boeven, figuren die soms even werden ingehuurd om een schuld te innen. Hij reisde acht dagen met ze mee.
