Of the 331 arrested yesterday, 11 (2 females, 9 males), including one plant supervisor, face criminal charges for various crimes including re-entry after deportation, aggravated identity theft, counterfeit documents and false statements. All have been transferred into the U.S. Marshal's custody.

All of those administratively arrested have been interviewed, fingerprinted, and photographed by ICE agents and processed for removal from the United States. The females arrested were transferred to the Atlanta City Detention Center in Atlanta, Georgia and the males were transferred to the Stuart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.

Ovulatory cycle effects on tip earnings by lap dancers: economic evidence for human estrus?

we examined ovulatory cycle effects on tip earnings by professional lap dancers working in gentlemen's clubs. Eighteen dancers recorded their menstrual periods, work shifts, and tip earnings for 60 days on a study web site. A mixed-model analysis of 296 work shifts (representing about 5300 lap dances) showed an interaction between cycle phase and hormonal contraception use. Normally cycling participants earned about US$335 per 5-h shift during estrus, US$260 per shift during the luteal phase, and US$185 per shift during menstruation. By contrast, participants using contraceptive pills showed no estrous earnings peak. These results constitute the first direct economic evidence for the existence and importance of estrus in contemporary human females, in a real-world work setting. These results have clear implications for human evolution, sexuality, and economics.

The world's oceans harbor a wide variety of squid, from 10-centimeter-long market squid to the elusive giant squid, which may grow to over 20 meters in length. Based on decades of observations, marine biologists assumed that all of these species of squids laid their eggs in clusters on the sea floor, where the eggs developed and hatched without any help from their parents. However a recent paper by researchers at the University of Rhode Island and at MBARI shows that females of at least one species of squid brood their eggs, carrying the eggs between their arms until the young hatch and swim away.

The British royal family is all about tradition. But even this august institution has to confront the realities of the 21st century. For more than 300 years, it has been an inviolable rule that neither monarchs nor their spouses can be Roman Catholic. The rules of succession also require that a first-born son gets the top job, bypassing any older sisters. Those restrictions could finally be history, according to a report today in 's Guardian newspaper.

The anti-Catholic rule dates back to the 1701 Act of Settlement, which states that only Protestant heirs of Sophia, granddaughter of King James I, could take the throne and that neither Catholics nor those born out of wedlock could remain in the line of succession. Males were also formally decreed to take precedence over females (although this was already the accepted practice). The preference for males is just as controversial as the religious prohibition among anti-monarchists and feminists.

Social networking is an everyday activity for the majority of college students, and the percentage of students who use the networks daily has nearly doubled in the past two years. EDUCAUSE compared social network usage at 44 colleges and universities in 2006, 2007 and 2008. It found that nearly twice as many students at these institutions use social networks every day in 2008 (59%) than did in 2006 (33%).

Accordingly, the percentage of students who said they never use social networks has fallen from 25% in 2006 to 11% in 2008.

Sydney, Sep 22 (IANS) The female of a tiny frog species, a little more than an inch long, mates with eight males sequentially - the highest recorded of any vertebrate, for the sake of healthier offsprings.

Phillip Byrne, of Monash University's School of Biological Sciences, made the startling discovery after six years of researching Bibron's toadlet.

'This level of promiscuity is a new record among vertebrates and certainly supports the old adage of not putting all your eggs in one basket,' Byrne added.

'Our study advances our understanding of female promiscuity by being the first to show that promiscuous females can safeguard against choosing fathers that provide poor homes for their offspring.

'Our study revealed that females made the active decision to distribute their eggs between the nests of up to eight different males,' Byrne said.

The study was published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society of London.
