How much did Jesus charge for communicating the gospel in the Bible? Oh, I forgot...NOTHING!

We don't charge for the light show at TBC. Want to know why? It communicates that we don't want the money of our guests. It communicates that it's a free gift to the community. It communicates that we want anyone to come to the event, even if you can't afford a car or car radio (we'll play it via boombox for you).

There's a family attending TBC since the light show. They decided to attend because it blew them away that we didn't charge a penny or even take donations. Did the event cost TBC something? You bet you — on all fronts (money, time, volunteers, risk). Was it worth not charging? Judge by the width of God's smile. OK, you really can't — but I wonder which communicates a more positive feeling in the end about who Jesus is and what He came for. That's a message EVERYONE s

Clip Source: www.dallasnews.com

Dallas service to bear witness to Osteen allure

By SAM HODGES / The Dallas Morning News
samhodges@dallasnews.com

Most preachers throw open the church doors and hope for a decent-size crowd. Joel Osteen, in his traveling worship services, charges admission and still draws a throng.

The majority of the nearly 15,000 expected for Mr. Osteen's Sunday night event at American Airlines Center will have paid $15 for a reserved seat.

Others will have spent three or four times that for choice seats through online ticket brokers.

Mr. Osteen said he thought about using a free-ticket system, but after talking with arena managers and others, concluded that a modest charge for reserved seats would lead to more orderly events.

Still, Mr. Osteen acknowledges that ticket sales are important to recouping the roughly $250,000 it costs him to put on an event, including renting an arena. He also takes an offering and sells his books and tapes, and he generally breaks even, he said.

<clipSource>http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/101108dnmetosteen.43385d8.html</clipSource>

Michelle McMullen, Missing and Wanted

clipped by: Delilah1234
clipper's remarks: There are so many questions and accusations surrounding the disappearance of Michelle McMullen, the young mother of a 6 year old, Jayden. Michelle was reported to be taking classes online and had transferred to a college in Louisiana to complete her on campus studies. Apparently she decided to bring her son back to Harrisburg, PA to stay with her parents while she finished her schooling. On the night of September 28, it is reported that Michelle dropped Jayden off at a friend's home in Harrisburg, who, by the way, was not expecting her nor had made prior arrangements to keep Jayden, turned around and headed back to Louisiana, a 17 hour drive.

Clip Source: mothersarevanishing.blogspot.com

The "what ifs" swirling around this case are like smoke around a campfire. Her family reported her missing after they had not heard from her within a reasonable amount of time, and her car was found abandoned in Hagerstown, MD only a little over an hour's drive from where she dropped of her son.

"[Police] told me that a missing person case isn't a priority but a person with a warrant out for their arrest is," Michael McMullen said. I have recently received a few emails from people who are actively meditating and visualizing healing, protective light energy around Barack Obama and his family. It is my feeling that we must not only isolate our prayers and luminous meditations to Obama, but also to McCain, the other candidates, and to the bankers and all government officials at this crucial time. This national crisis is an invitation on a personal level to examine our souls. We have the power to flow unconditional love out in all directions, without prejudice or preference, but for the healing of the entire nation.

Or with Tony Rezko or with Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Just as it wouldn't be inappropriate to raise questions about McCain's association with G. Gordon Liddy, the convicted Watergate burglar whose colorful history includes telling listeners to his radio show in 1994 to shoot federal agents in the head. When McCain went on Liddy's radio show in November 2007, he told Liddy, "I'm proud of you, I'm proud of your family... It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great."

The candidates' associations with these people, and their responses to questions about them, give you a view into their judgment. But at a time of great economic uncertainty -- so uncertain that the smartest people in the world are scratching their heads about what to do -- whi

Clip Source: voices.washingtonpost.com

McCain's Chilling Dance With the Dark Side

So the McCain camp is trying to raise doubts about Barack Obama -- even though the Illinois senator has been on the national stage for four years and has been under the presidential campaign microscope for the last 20 months. They seem to have no qualms appealing to the cultural fears of their agitated, and now energized, base by practically branding Obama as un-American or anti-American. And this is eliciting an ugliness at McCain-Palin events that is justifiably raising alarms that some nut job is going to act on the Republican ticket's cynical campaigning.

For two days now, there have been stories about boisterous McCain-Palin supporters screaming inflammatory words at the very mention of Obama's name. Words like "terrorist" and "Kill him!" and "treason." And at no point has McCain or Palin called on those folks and others who would imitate them to stop.

If they keep doing what they're doing, they'll deserve to lose.

Tags: mccain, palin, obama, politics, rallies, anger, rage, hatred, racism, smear

<clipSource>http://voices.washingtonpost.com/postpartisan/2008/10/mccains_chilling_dance_with_th.html</clipSource>

Make Your Own Wind Turbine One Step at a Time

clipped by: WindGenerators

Clip Source: ezinearticles.com

If you learn how to make your own wind turbine you will be taking advantage of so many great reasons to make yourself smile. In 1982, columnist Issac Bailey's brother Herbert "Moochie" Bailey Jr. was charged in the stabbing death of James Bunch, a former Bonneau city councilman. Bailey recently spoke for the first time about the slaying with the victim's family, as well as his own, for a six-part series that explores the lingering effects of murder on the families of the victims and the accused.

A fellow inmate stabbed one of my youngest brothers "in the back and the face,'' he told me as nonchalantly as if discussing the blueness of the sky.

It was during a fight in a Baltimore prison. Zadoc Bailey stabbed the other guy in the back. Neither reported the incident, so neither received treatment. They didn't want to be taken to solitary confinement.

A small scar is still visible on his face.

A doctor prescribed him a powerful drug called Stelazine and that was the start of a nightmare which eventually led to his death. He had bad physical reactions to the medication straight away but every symptom was seen as more evidence of schizophrenia and treated with more medication. Alternative treatments were never an option; keeping him calm was the priority.

"Daniel was really passive and never complained but my mum was convinced the medication was going to kill him. She changed GPs many times, went private, bought vitamins and demanded blood tests; getting better care for Daniel became her full-time occupation but she was accused of interfering. In the months before his death, Daniel suffered from three major epileptic fits brought on by drinking too much water. Why was he so thirsty? I

Clip Source: www.independent.co.uk

Daniel Galvin died of a heart attack in August. He was six stone overweight and had high blood pressure; his hair was falling out and he was incapacitated by trembling legs. He was 29.

Daniel's family believe his symptoms, and his untimely death, were caused by side effects from the powerful psychiatric drugs he had been taking for 14 years. He is, they think, one of thousands of people with mental health problems who have died prematurely because their physical health was neglected.

People with mental health problems and learning disabilities die on average 10 years younger than the rest of the population, according to the Disability Rights Commission. Finally, elders who happen to be gay, can join us younger gays in taking our place in the new freedoms, being granted us in the ever expanding acceptance and tolerance of society.
