Protons are useful especially in cases where it is important to minimize damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. ProTom holds the exclusive U.S. rights for one such proton therapy system initially developed in Russia. The MIT-ProTom team aims to apply their results at ProTom cancer treatment centers beginning in 2010.

"We at Bates are excited to participate in a collaboration to improve proton beam therapy with the objective of more effective cancer treatment worldwide," said Robert Redwine, director of Bates and a professor of physics at MIT.

<clipSource>http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2008/proton-therapy-0904.html</clipSource>

Birds do it, Bees do it, but humans don't!

clipped by: thinkingblue
clipper's remarks: Of course, we should teach our teenage children good judgement, if that is at all possible when it comes to the powerful instinctual urges belonging to all life, the drive to BEGET. Try telling a teeny bobber about love and responsibility. They'll look at you, the same way you look at a dog chasing its tail, bewilderment of such a stupidity lag.
But, for most parents, the teen "eye roll" just slides off their back, down to the floor where it can be easily stepped on.
But all sarcasm aside, teaching this program alone is not just block-headed, its outrageously dangerous. By not equipping our young with knowledge on self preservation, we neglect the most basic fact of life, the instinctive teachings of fundamental survival techniques. Go and watch some wild life with their young and you will see such training.
Birds do it, Bees do it, even Monkeys in the trees do it. all the studies except the ones conducted by the abstinence-only advocates.
Isn't that a shocker? Well, to anyone with a few brain cells, that was a given.
From the very beginning, when Bush and his followers rejoiced and couldn't wait
to hit us over the head with their abstinence-ONLY asinine program.

Tags: politics, abstinence, only, youtube, sex, education

<clipSource>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2dGdjALV08</clipSource>

Political Analyst~OR~Partisan Activists???

clipped by: davboz
clipper's remarks: Olbermann's dominance brings out the worst in Matthews. Even Brokaw. They are both more balanced, when KO is nowhere in sight. An insightful eye can tell the difference when responding to Keith they are timidly stammering for words far enough in the extreme left bias to satisfy him. And their facial expression shows it - clearly. They are resentful, pressured, and under the thumb of Keith Olbermann.
At a later point, with Olbermann gone, they are confident, balanced and natural.
Myself, I can ferret out this kind of passive-aggressive, irresponsible phony journalism. There are just too many out there that cannot see that the line between news and amateurish blog has disappeared ~ probably for ever.

Clip Source: newsbusters.org

[7:03pm]

CHRIS MATTHEWS: I have the sense that the Republican image-makers, the ballyhoo boys, know exactly what they're doing. They're setting up a David and Goliath in this sense. Governor Palin as David, us as Goliath. This is showbiz, they know what they're doing. It might work, we'll see. Big night, tonight for the Republicans and their ballyhoo boys.

KEITH OLBERMANN: How long, if it works, can it work? You cannot maintain a permanent protest, you can't file a constant appeal to the refs that never ends. It must have a concluding point, must it not?

MATTHEWS: Richard Nixon did it for many years. It can be done. You can put up, you can create a continual tension between your political party and what you describe as the establishment. You can continue to portray yourself as the underdog in a battle in which you, in fact, carry all the political weight of the government. It's been done before and I think they're gonna try it one more time tonight.

It can be used to code all sorts of items such as jewellery, ornaments, electrical items and even your motor vehicle. Each bottle contains a unique chemical ‘code’ which is registered to you – conclusively proving ownership. It cannot be easily seen by the naked eye and is almost impossible to remove. The liquid glows under ultraviolet light making it easy for the Police to detect.

The Police use it in undercover operations to catch and convict criminals. Criminals know about SmartWater and fear its power to forensically link them with the scene of a crime.

So, by coding your valuables and displaying the SmartWater deterrent signs, you are sending out a powerful warning to any thieves and burglars operating in your area.

Tags: smartwater, chemical, code, criminals, protection

<clipSource>http://www.smartwater.com/Personal.aspx</clipSource>

Бионический глаз вживается в образ электродами

clipped by: Emiya

Clip Source: www.membrana.ru

Бионический глаз вживается в образ электродами

Дэниел Паланкер (Daniel Palanker) из Стэнфордского университета (Stanford University) и его научная группа "Биомедицинской физики и офтальмологических технологий" (Group of BioMedical Physics and Ophthalmic Technologies) разработали оригинальный протез сетчатки высокого разрешения или "Бионический глаз" (Bionic Eye), обладающий целым рядом преимуществ перед предыдущими проектами лечения слепоты с помощью электронных имплантатов.

<clipSource>http://www.membrana.ru/articles/health/2005/04/07/205000.html</clipSource>

A Recovering L.A. Hence the term “remote.” You are travelling with your mind’s eye to view a glimpse of a place beyond your normal eyesight.

Interestingly, Both the highly esteemed Stanford Reseach Institute and the CIA (yes, the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency) have even performed extensive studies on the validity of the remote viewing technique in the past. The studies were recorded in the 70’s and 80’s.

This technique is handy when you’ve lost something,

<clipSource>http://mindvisualization.com/posts/remote-viewing/</clipSource>

The Real Duchess of Devonshire

clipped by: JULIE PENKOVA
clipper's remarks: Painted by Gainsborough

Clip Source: blog.catherinedelors.com

Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire

And what do you think of Keira Knightley in the title role? most fashionable woman in London at this time was the Duchess of
Devonshire. I had often heard of her beauty and her influence in politics, and
when I called upon her she greeted me in the most affable style. She might then
have been about forty-five years old. Her features were very regular, but I was
not struck by her beauty. Her complexion was too high, and ill-fortune had
ordained that one of her eyes should be blind. As at this period the hair was
worn over the forehead, she concealed the eye under a bunch of curls, but that
was insufficient to hide such a serious defect. The Duchess of Devonshire was
of fair size, her degree of stoutness being exactly appropriate to her age, and
her unconstrained manner became her exceedingly well.

My website

A team of Chinese scientists has developed a way to unmask your invisibility cloak. According to a new paper in the latest issue of Optics Express, the Optical Society's (OSA) open-access journal, certain materials underneath an invisibility cloak would allow invisible objects be seen again.

"Cloaking is an important problem since invisibility can help survival in hostile environment," says Huanyang Chen of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. He and his colleagues have proposed a theoretical "anti-cloak" that would partially cancel the effect of the invisibility cloak, which is another important problem as it turns out.

<clipSource>http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2008-09/aiop-iu090208.php</clipSource>

Fast credit repair!

clipped by: Sensible_Sam
clipper's remarks: This site www.moneydoctor101.com is a pretty cool site providing free informational resources, tips and strategies to repair your credit and get out of debt.

Looks pretty new so keep your eye on it

Clip Source: moneydoctor101.com

Money Doctor 101 was created with you in mind, not to just help heal your financial situation but to educate you how to avoid hardships in the future as well. I understand the pressures of financial hardship. I’ve had the same monetary illnesses and much financial heartache over the years. From bankruptcy to financially induced marital problems, I have faced it all and have come out a survivor (although just barely I might add). So with your consent, I would like to administer the same natural medicine to you, that healed my financial well being.

Tags: fast credit repair, personal loans, bad credit personal loans

<clipSource>http://moneydoctor101.com/</clipSource>

open angle glaucoma

clipped by: goldensnow

Clip Source: www.patient.co.uk

What's the difference between increased eye pressure & glaucoma?

Glaucoma means that part of the optic nerve is damaged, usually caused by increased eye pressure. But, about 1 in 5 people with glaucoma have eye pressures in the normal range. This is called 'normal pressure glaucoma'. In this condition the optic nerve is damaged by relatively low eye pressures. Other factors such as a poor blood supply may make the optic nerve sensitive even to modest pressure. In contrast, some people have an increased eye pressure with no ill effect to the optic nerve.

<clipSource>http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/23068745</clipSource>
