Even if Obama signs it, it would require a two-thirds vote of the U.S. Senate to ratify the treaty and make us bound to the terms. Fascinating discussion.

Here is video from Glenn Beck's show today where he focused on the bizarre plans by President Obama to sign onto the Climate Change Treaty in Copenhagen at a world conference to be held December 7-18. Beck had former U.S. Ambassador John Bolton and Britain's Lord Monckton, a Climate Change expert, and a former adviser to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Monckton warns that signing the treaty will begin the process of giving up U.S. Sovereignty to a world body that will have the power to impact U.S. financial markets and the greater U.S. Economy. He said it currently contains the power for the body to levy a 2% tax on nations and to impose penalties for C02 emissions.

Gates could have said with equal truth that the same environmentalists, by demanding organic-only farming, are risking the future of the planet’s wildlife. The world will need more than twice as much food by 2050 to feed a peak population of 8 billion affluent humans and their pets. Gates believes we should get that additional food from higher yields on the 37 percent of the earth’s land area we already farm, not by threatening massive numbers of wildlife species by clearing more land for low-yield crops.

A vital safeguard to protect the world's rainforests from being cut down has been dropped from a global deforestation treaty due to be signed at the climate summit in Copenhagen in December.

Under proposals due to be ratified at the summit, countries which cut down rainforests and convert them to plantations of trees such as oil palms would still be able to classify the result as forest and could receive millions of dollars meant for preserving them. An earlier version of the text ruled out such a conversion but has been deleted, and the EU delegation – headed by Britain – has blocked its reinsertion.

Environmentalists say plantations are in no way a substitute for the lost natural forest in terms of wildlife, water production or, crucially, as a store of the carbon dioxide which is emitted into the atmosphere when forests are destroyed and intensifies climate change.

PROVIDENCE—A leading environmental group is opposing a plan to build a wind turbine in Narragansett.

Save The Bay and five other environmental organizations sent a letter to Gov. Don Carcieri on Tuesday, saying that while they support renewable energy, the proposed wind turbine at Black Point would go against previous efforts by the state to preserve the 42-acre strip of state-owned coastal land as open space.

The state Department of Environmental Management and the town of Narragansett have been developing plans to build up to six wind turbines in the town, including one at Black Point.

The state purchased the land 20 years ago to protect it from residential development.

Do You Have To Change Your Life Entirely In Order To Stop Climate Change?

Climate change. It’s big. It’s scary. It’s looming. And we all just wish it would go away. In fact, it’s easy to pretend it isn’t there, as we go about our lives the way we had before we knew. Before we knew that each of our actions makes a difference to our planet, to our children and the way they will be able to live their lives.

Why don’t we take actions to change our way of living due to climate change? Is it because it isn’t personal, it seems far away, or it feels like we can’t make a difference on our own (so why bother trying)? Is it because only crazy environmentalists reduce their carbon footprint low enough for it to really change anything? Is it that we’re too busy, too poor, or too concerned about other things to spend the time and effort? Is it because we think change doesn’t happen at an individual level, but rather, it’s up to the politicians to make laws that create change?

A new gambit by the oil-dealing kingdom would have Western oil guzzlers paying for using less oil. Sounds like the opposite of reality, you say? The Saudis say it's the only way they'll be able to afford helping the fight against global warming.

Saudi climate negotiator, Mohammad al-Sabban, described the position as a “make or break” measure for the oil-heavy kingdom in the lead-up to global climate negotiations in Copenhagen. In an email exchange with the times, al-Sabban said wealthy Western countries like the United States should help the Saudis with "economic diversification" by paying for oil they don't even use.

Environmentalists say the idea is ludicrous.

“It is like the tobacco industry asking for compensation for lost revenues as a part of a settlement to address the health risks of smoking,”

Absurd one-sided media coverage of the so-called ban

The amazing part of the one-sided news coverage of the so-called Hopi Tribal Council ban on environmentalists, which the Navajo president supported, is how few news reporters were even aware of the large number of Hopi and Navajo environmental organizations and individual activists.

If all the Hopi and Navajo people defending and honoring the land, air and water were banned, all of the traditional Hopi and Navajo would have to leave their lands.
What the one-sided coverage by AP, Arizona Republic and the others reveals is that the reporters are not spending any time in Indian country. They continue to just rewrite the press releases of politicians and corporations.
Even Mother Jones got duped.
