Mummies of humans and other animals have been found throughout the world, both as a result of natural preservation through unusual conditions, and as cultural artifacts to preserve the dead.

The discovery was made by students of the German University of Kiel on September 23, and was announced by Zilke Kujundžic, who is actually one of the main opponents to the pyramid project, having filed numerous petitions for the work to be stopped, claiming the entire project is a hoax.

ceramic pyramid – in some reports also referred to as a benben stone, because of apparent visual similarities with such stones in Egypt – is a major discovery, showing that local people, millennia ago, created ceramic objects in the shape of a pyramid.

Meanwhile, Kujundžic was also accused of not having shared the discovery with the local Visoko museum. It is no doubt divine irony that some of the best archaeological evidence for the reality of the pyramids, has been unearthed by one of its fiercest opponents.

<clipSource>http://mysterytopia.com/</clipSource>

New Discovery Refers to Christ as the 'Magician'

clipped by: CarnivalBorn

Clip Source: www.thirdeyeconcept.com

A team of scientists led by renowned French marine archaeologist Franck Goddio recently announced that they have found a bowl, dating to between the late 2nd century B.C. and the early 1st century A.D., that is engraved with what they believe could be the world's first known reference to Christ

The full engraving on the bowl reads, "DIA CHRSTOU O GOISTAIS," which has been interpreted by the excavation team to mean either, "by Christ the magician" or, "the magician by Christ."

"It could very well be a reference to Jesus Christ, in that he was once the primary exponent of white magic," Goddio, co-founder of the Oxford Center of Maritime Archaeology, said

found the object during an excavation of the underwater ruins of Alexandria's ancient great harbor. Despite laudable recent increases in US giving to poverty, US aid as a percent of personal income is second to last among wealthy nations; most of that doesn't go to the poorest countries.
Of the estimated 24,000 adults polled between July 8 and Sept. 12, the BBC reported 29 percent said the war on terror announced by U.S. President George W. Bush in 2001 has not made an impact on al-Qaida. Thirty percent said the U.S. policies have only strengthened the terrorist group.

The report said that with the exception of those in Egypt and Pakistan, respondents mostly held a negative view of al-Qaida.

Asked who was winning the fight, 49 percent said neither side, 22 percent said they believed the United States had gained the upper hand and 10 percent said al-Qaida was winning.

In Egypt, 60 percent said they held a positive or mixed view about al-Qaida. The report quoted as analysts who said there are many Egyptians in al-Qaida leadership.

In Pakistan only 19 percent held a negative view of the group.

Tags: war on terror, us, al qaeda

<clipSource>http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/09/29/Poll_War_on_terror_not_succeeding/UPI-38021222665018/</clipSource>

Ramses II bust found in Egypt

clipped by: cakebelly

Clip Source: news.yahoo.com

                        CAIRO (AFP) -
Archaeologists have found the bust of pharaoh Ramses II in Egypt's Nile Delta, Culture Minister Faruq Hosni said Wednesday, bringing experts closer to finding a temple belonging to the king.

The red granite bust, which formed part of a colossal statue of the king, was found during routine excavations in the Tell Basta area, 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Cairo in the Nile Delta, Hosni said in a statement.

"The head is 76 cm high (around 30 inches), the nose is broken, and the false beard that was once attached to the king's chin is missing," antiquities supremo Zahi Hawass said.

"The discovery is important because it may indicate that the excavators are close to the ruins of a major temple of Ramses II in the area," Hawass said.

Ramses II reigned over Egypt for about 68 years, from 1304 to 1237 BC, and is believed to have lived to the age of 90.

<clipSource>http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080924/wl_mideast_afp/egyptarchaeologyramses</clipSource>

New Ramses II Statue

clipped by: ramsesemerson
clipper's remarks: Yay!! Egyptian archaeologists located the pink, granite monument at a site in Tell
Basta, once the capital of the ancient state 50 miles north of Cairo.

Ramses, also known by his Greek name Ozymandias, commanded a mighty empire
during Egypt's new kingdom from 1279-1213 BC.

"The head is 76 cm high (around 30 inches), the nose is broken, and the
false beard that was once attached to the king's chin is missing," Mr
  Hawass said.

"The discovery is important because it may indicate that the excavators
are close to the ruins of a major temple of Ramses II in the area".

Archaeologists are still excavating the Tell Basta site in the hopes of
discovering the rest of the statue.

Ramses was buried in the valley of the kings at Luxor, but was discovered last
century and his mummified remains are now displayed in a Cairo museum.

That much anybody knows. But even if we know a bit more (that the number of Chinese is around 1.32 billion, which is just under 20% of all humans alive today), that figure is still too big to mean much beyond that China is ‘number one’ (2). This map compares the population of China’s provinces (plus the ‘renegade province’ of Taiwan), autonomous regions and municipalities with those of whole countries, and thus helps shed some light on that issue.

Here, for easy reference, is a list in descending order of magnitude of those Chinese territories (their population in brackets) followed by the foreign country they compare to.

Guangdong (113 million) Germany plus Uganda (3)

Henan (99 million) Mexico

Shandong (92 million) Philippines

Sichuan (87 million) Vietnam

Jiangsu (75 million) Egypt

Hebei (68 million) Iran

Hunan (67 million) France

Anhui (65 million) Thailand

Hubei (60 million) U.K.

Guangxi (49 million) Burma/Myanmar

<clipSource>http://strangemaps.wordpress.com/2008/09/23/312-the-population-of-chinas-provinces-compared/</clipSource>

Kate Moss To Be Molded in Gold

clipped by: Homonculus
clipper's remarks: The British Museum plans to display a golden statue of our supermodel Kate Moss that is going to be the largest gold statue built since ancient Egypt.

Clip Source: www.thehotmag.com

There's something about Kate Moss that makes people want to create art based on her. So, British sculptor Marc Quinn is ready to unveil his latest creation to the world, a nearly $2.8 million, 110-pound solid gold statue of the supermodel, hyped as the largest such creation built since ancient Egypt.

I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who's the ideal beauty of the moment.

The sculpture will be on display in the new exhibition at the British Museum which will run from October 4 until January 25, 2009. Well, It seems someone has taken Kate Moss' role as fashion's golden girl rather literally.

It's not a fist time to create art inspired by celebrities, Daniel Edwards did it once!
