Probablemente muchos de las jóvenes generaciones españolas no sepan que después de la victoria militar franquista en 1939 en nuestro país hubo entre diez y sesenta mil guerrilleros, según las fuentes, que siguieron combatiendo contra la dictadura hasta el año 1952, es decir, nada menos que trece años de lucha armada en durísimas condiciones de represión y acoso. Uno de esos frentes fue la Agrupación Guerrillera de Levante y Aragón (AGLA), que actuó en la zona comprendida entre el sur de Teruel, interior de Castellón y el norte de Cuenca.

Me llamó la atención, si es que a estas alturas eso puede asombrarnos, la absoluta ausencia de cobertura periodística de las jornadas. No vi, a excepción del acto final, ni un solo medio de comunicación haciéndose eco de los valiosos estudios y testimonios que allí se compartieron

Otro de los atractivos que le dota de una emoción especial es el hecho de que se celebren precisamente en el lugar donde se desarrollaron los acontecimientos

Sumatran robusta growers suffer from price drop

Here in Sumatra, this means many farmers may rip out their coffee and plant less eco-friendly crops. Also look for the big multinational companies to stock up on this low-quality coffee and pit growers against each other to further depress prices.

Lampung coffee farmers and exporters claim the U.S financial crisis has contributed to the fall in the price of the commodity.

"In the past, 2001-2002, when the price fell to Rp 3,000 per kilogram, many frustrated farmers cut down their coffee trees."

Another coffee farmer, Suharno of Sumberjaya, West Lampung, said he was ready to "change" his coffee plantation if the price continued to drop.

Without giving the exact amount of money involved, exporters claimed to have suffered losses of 30 percent because of the decline in price of coffee at the London terminal.

Lampung is the largest robusta coffee producer in Indonesia. Currently the province has 163,837 hectares of coffee plantations with 218,447 workers.

Considering that its original propellant was an ozone-depleting substance, it's no surprise that it got the attention of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other regulatory agencies. Many regulations governing ozone-depleting substances issued in the 1970s and 1980s specifically reference Silly String and prohibit its use.

As part of its financial turnaround strategy, Unitec strategists have proposed the establishment of three Communities of Practice (COP) to promote cross-campus interdisciplinary outcomes (Unitec, 2008, ‘Towards a sustainable future’, Section 11.2, pp. 44-45). A ⅔ majority of staff in one Unitec school agreed that establishing a COP for eco-sustainability was an insufficient response to the increasing signals that Unitec should take a more proactive role in responding to the issues of eco-sustainability.

What is cob?

Cob building dates back hundreds of years ago, and cob houses built over 500 years ago in Europe are still inhabited to this day.

buckets of wet clay and sand are mixed by foot (or by horse, oxen, concrete mixer, or even Bobcat excavators) and then combined with straw to produce a sticky, malleable material that can be rolled into palm-sized loaves (or “cobs”, which is where the name originated) and then laid onto a foundation and sculpted by hand to build thick and massive cob walls

The properties of cob

When cob dries, it resembles rock or concrete in its hardness. With a nice thick coat of plaster, cob can withstand significant weathering before it starts to (slowly) wear away.

Cob has better “thermal mass“, which means it is capable of capturing and storing large amounts of heat.

(CNN) -- A truck stop is an assault on the senses, especially on a hot summer day. There's the smell of diesel, the taste of exhaust fumes and the nerve-jangling, ever-present rumble of truck engines -- even when the drivers are asleep.

Typically, truckers idle their engines during warm weather while they're resting, to keep the air conditioning on and the cabs cool.

Some truckers use devices that cool cabs without idling. Most of these technologies either use batteries, which eventually wear out and have to be replaced, or fuel, which emits pollution. But Webasto, a company that makes trucking equipment, has found an alternative.

"It's old technology turned new," said John Thomas, director of commercial vehicles for Webasto Products, North America. "Actually, some people call it 'high-tech ice.' " Watch how the cooling system works »
