There have been numerous studies of artichoke leaf extract ever since European scientists first discovered cynarin's ability to lower cholesterol in the 1970's. Caffeoylquinic acids, such as cynarin are the active ingredients in artichokes that lower cholesterol, with higher concentrations in the leaves. A 6 week double blind, placebo controlled clinical trial of 143 patients has demonstrated without a doubt to the effectiveness of artichoke leaf extract for lowering cholesterol.

Hangovers
Contrary to what some would like to believe, a study demonstrated the ineffectiveness of artichoke extract in the cure of alcohol-induced hangovers.

Irritable bowel syndrome
In a trial involving 208 adults, results provide support for the notion that artichoke leaf extract has potential value in relieving IBS symptoms.

Diabetes
The carbohydrate in artichokes is in the form of inulin, which has been shown to stabilize blood sugar levels in diabetics.

Tags: health benefits artichokes, artichoke leaf extract, cynarin, cholesterol, irritable bowel syndrome, indigestion, dyspepsia, diabetes

<clipSource>http://www.elements4health.com/the-heart-of-an-artichoke.html</clipSource>

Cayenne Pepper for Weight Loss, Pain Relief and Arthritis

clipped by: SenorCoconut

Clip Source: www.elements4health.com

Weight Loss
Epidemiological data (data hatgered from population studies) indicates the consumption of capsaicin rich foods such as cayenne and other peppers is associated with a lower prevalence of obesity.

Arthritis
In a 4-week double blind study of 70 patients with osteoarthritis, and 31 with rheumatoid arthritis, it was concluded that capsaicin cream is a safe and effective treatment for arthritis.
Another double blind study suggest that capsaicin is a safe and potentially useful treatment for painful osteoarthritis of the hands.

Digestive Health
Cayenne has been, and is still used for digestive problems in traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Ayurvedic medicines.
Studies have shown cayenne, or the ingredient capsaicin, to be effective in relieving the symptoms of dyspepsia.

Pain Relief
Capsaicin from cayenne peppers is used effectively in many areas of pain relief.

Tags: health benefits cayenne, capsaicin, pain relief, weight loss, arthritis, digestive health, cardiovascular

<clipSource>http://www.elements4health.com/cayenne-pepper.html</clipSource>

Peppermint Improves Digestion, Relieves Headaches and Kills Fungal Infections

clipped by: SenorCoconut

Clip Source: www.elements4health.com

Indigestion (dyspepsia)
An herbal preparation consisting of peppermint oil and caraway has been shown to alleviate pain associated with dyspepsia, and a reduction in other gastrointestinal symptoms.
The peppermint oil and caraway combination appears to be as effective as Cisapride (withdrawn because of harmful side effects) in relieving dyspepsia.

Headache
At the Neurological Clinic at the University of Kiel in Germany, a topical application of peppermint oil and ethanol produced a reduction in sensitivity to headache.
Another study has shown that a topical application of peppermint oil and ethanol combination rubbed on the forehead and temples to be just as effective in alleviating tension headache as acetaminophen (Tylenol).

Athletes Foot
A study at the University of Novi Sad in Yugoslavia has shown peppermint oil to have greater fungicidal activity than the commercial fungicide Bifonazole, which is used to treat the fungal skin infection athlete’s foot.

ALE consumption resulted in a modest but favourable statistically significant reduction in total plasma cholesterol after the intervention period.

Globe artichokes have been used traditionally in Europe to improve digestive and urinary tract health. Artichoke leaf extracts (ALEs) are currently used in Germany and Switzerland as a remedy for indigestion, and are available in the UK as over-the-counter food supplements. Various studies have provided an evidence base for their use in conditions such as dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome.

Reducing cholesterol levels can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Tags: artichoke leaves, cholesterol

<clipSource>http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/07/080702170607.htm</clipSource>

Doctor advises French countrymen to fart!

clipped by: hitchhiker08
clipper's remarks: Guess its all part of a master plan. In his book, Le Grand Ménage (Spring cleaning), Frédéric Saldmann
invites them to embrace the stereotypical British view of the French and to
have a relaxed attitude to bodily functions.

Dr Saldmann also recommends cutting down on chewing gum, never eating while
walking and reducing the intake of fizzy drinks.

Similarly, he says his countrymen should feel free to belch at will and
certainly after each meal. This, he says, is the best way to reduce the risk
of getting a hiatal hernia, an ailment which affects almost a third of
French people. Keeping air in the stomach leads to more heartburn, which
increases the risk of cancer of the oesophagus. The rise of this disease in
France, he says, is due to "the burp that we no longer do".

Comorbidity between FD and anxiety disorders is high. In FD, epigastric pain is associated with gastric hypersensitivity and neuroticism, a personality trait related to anxiety. Experimentally induced anxiety in healthy volunteers is associated with changes in sensorimotor function of the proximal stomach

n hypersensitive patients with FD, state anxiety is significantly and negatively correlated with discomfort threshold, pain threshold, and compliance. These results strengthen the hypothesis that anxiety is important in FD, especially in hypersensitive patients.

Tags: anxiety, indigestion

<clipSource>http://intl.psychosomaticmedicine.org/cgi/content/abstract/PSY.0b013e3180600a4av1</clipSource>

clove oil

clipped by: acmcs

Clip Source: www.essential-oil-recipes.com

Properties and Indications:

Only qualified doctors can prescribe this drug; Most online stores selling Viagra are actually selling fake (highly illegal) or generic versions of the drug. Viagra sells at around $10 per pill, and low prices ($1.5 per pill) are only available when one orders a bulk amount. Again, many of these sold online are generic versions which are less effective than the real thing.

Viagra has side effects such as sneezing, dizziness, headaches, flushing, dyspepsia, photophobia, palpitations, priapism, heart attacks, strokes and sudden death.

Tags: impotence cures, sexually active, health, cure, viagra, fitness

<clipSource>http://ezinearticles.com/?4-Most-Effective-Cures-for-Impotence&id=502960</clipSource>

Viagra Alternative

clipped by: MrKumar

Clip Source: ezinearticles.com

3 Reasons to Try Viagra Alternatives
By Tommy Lee

1.
