The Partying Penis And The Horny Hangover

A "horny hangover" is somewhat clumsily defined in the Urban Dictionary as:

"The mysterious and overwhelming urge to have sex the day after a night of hard drinking, despite being completely dehydrated and having a massive headache."

It has yet to receive mention in the Merriam-Webster Unabridged, a lamentable omission in my view considering they have a million words in there like "eucirripedia" that nobody ever uses. Not every guy gets the hangover hornies, but enough do that it's achieved something akin to mythic status. My wife never really believed they existed until one morning after a party she awoke to find me looking at her with a knowing smile and a glint in my bloodshot eye.

A security camera has captured the moment a woman fell on the tracks on Boston's Orange Line as a train headed straight for her.

Passengers flailed their arms at the driver, who stopped just in time.

A witness said the train came to a standstill inches from the woman, who had scraped knees but was otherwise not hurt.

There are reports that the woman had been drinking for several hours before she fell.

Everyone in the station applauded the driver, Charice Lewis, who has been honoured by the T's Board of Directors as a hero.

Lewis, a 27-year-old train operator from Mattapan, said she did not have time to think, she just reacted. Recounting her emotions in the seconds after the incident she said: "It was so close, I thought it was not good."

"Afterward she came up with a big smile on her face and I'm like 'Oh my God, you really scared me' ", Lewis said. "The most exciting part for me is she crawled out from under."

(CNN) -- On the holiday known as the Day of the Dead, a Brazilian bricklayer walked into his own funeral.

The sight of Ademir Jorge Goncalves alive shocked relatives, some of whom tried to jump out of the windows of the funeral home in southern Brazil.

"In my 10 years in this business, I have never witnessed a scene like this," said Natanael Honorato, manager of the funeral home in the Parana state.

On November 1, some family members and friends had identified the victim of a car crash as the 59-year-old Goncalves.

They scheduled his funeral for the following day, Dia de Finados, a holiday when Brazilians remember loved ones who have died.

What Goncalves' family did not know is that he had spent the night drinking at a bar near the site of the crash, but he was not the victim.

When the bricklayer got word of his funeral, he showed up at the Funeraria Rainha das Colinas funeral home Monday morning.

World Mountain Bike Bog Snorkelling Championships

A bizarre aquatic race whereby someone in full wetsuit and snorkel pedals an expensive mountain bike into a filthy bog just outside the small Welsh town of Llanwrtyd Wells (pronounced like the sound of a slop bucket hitting the floor) for reasons science isn't fully equipped to explain.

Entrants are timed as they cycle two lengths of the Waen Rhydd bog, which is 6-feet deep and 45-feet long, on a bicycle with a frame filled with lead. Toppling off your bike isn't penalized, and neither is vomiting from the fetid stench.

The sport draws competitors to Llanwrytd Wells from all over the world, but we think that may be because the Welsh citizenry mistakenly think every traveler with a chesty cough is asking directions to the town.

The sport began in 2000 and was developed from the similar, non-bike-related Bog Snorkelling Championships. Both were the brainchild of a local pub landlord, who dreamt it up after drinking a lot of booze.

The chemical Bisphenol A, which has been used for years in clear plastic bottles and food-can liners, has been restricted in Canada and some U.S. states and municipalities because of potential health effects.
Now Consumer Reports' latest tests of canned foods, including soups, juice, tuna, and green beans, have found that almost all of the 19 name-brand foods we tested contain some BPA. The canned organic foods we tested did not always have lower BPA levels than nonorganic brands of similar foods analyzed. We even found the chemical in some products in cans that were labeled "BPA-free."
Federal guidelines currently put the daily upper limit of safe exposure at 50 micrograms of BPA per kilogram of body weight. But that level is based on experiments done in the 1980s rather than hundreds of more recent animal and laboratory studies indicating serious health risks could result from much lower doses of BPA.

When you dial 911, there's certain things you have to do to make sure you get the help you need.

First, know your home address, and second, don't wait 45 minutes to dial 911.

Von Powell, 22, who lives near Gainesville, had a hard time doing both of those things after he said he was the victim of a home robbery.

The man also told police that one of the things stolen was his "personal stash" of marijuana.

When you're committing a crime and you're also the victim of a crime, it makes it difficult to call police.

"He let the responding deputies know that he was sitting on the couch drinking a beer, watching a movie and smoking a blunt," a deputy said.

Alachua County deputies were called out early Tuesday morning to Powell's home. Powell told the 911 dispatcher that two men had burst through his door and robbed him at gunpoint.

Man turns up at his own funeral

A Brazilian man surprised his friends and family - by turning up at his own funeral.

Relatives of Ademir Jorge Goncalves, 59, a bricklayer, had identified him as the victim of a car crash in Parana state.

Police told O Globo newspaper that relatives had trouble identifying the body because it was badly disfigured.

It emerged that Mr Goncalves had spent the night drinking a rum-like liquor called 'pinga' with his friends.

He did not get word of his funeral until it was already happening, according to his niece Rosa Sampaio.

She said some family members - including herself and the man's mother - had doubts, but an aunt and four friends had positively identified the body.

"What were we to do? We went ahead with the funeral," she told O Globo.

A police spokesman welcomed the happy ending: "Before long, the walking dead appeared at the funeral. It was a relief," he said.

The body was correctly identified later, he said, and buried in another state.
