TV's 'No Dogs Left Behind' Follows Rescued War Dogs on Journey to U.S.

While he was in Iraq, Staff Sgt. Bryan Spears and his company found a scrappy puppy and named him Moody. But due to military regulations, they were prohibited from caring for the animal, and the soldiers said their goodbyes to their new friend.

Fast-forward a few weeks later, and tragedy strikes: Five members of Spears's team are killed in an attack by a suicide bomber. That same day, Moody returns — and it was that turn of events that Spears says saved him from losing all morale. The dog had helped him cope with the loss of his fellow soldiers.

World oil reserves are far lower than officially reported, the situation far more serious than publicly admitted, and we're already past peak oil. That's the word from two anonymous IEA whistleblowers, The Guardian reports. To add insult to industry, the figures were deliberately massaged, at least in part, to appease the United States:

Apparently the IEA was concerned that reporting the true reserve numbers -- and keep in mind that determining oil reserves is as much art as science -- it would trigger a buying panic.

So, more than anything, this illustrates the same head in the sand thinking that dogs climate change negotiations. Out of fear of disrupting current activity, profit, lifestyles, what have you, you put off action for the future, even though it's inevitable that those have to change.

I can’t begin to imagine how hard it would be to leave my family for months at a time, especially if my destination were Iraq or Afghanistan. And I don’t know how I could deal with my wife being deployed overseas. These reunion videos—for me, at least—shed a tiny beam of light on how emotionally draining being a military family can be. They’ll also make you want a dog. To commemorate Veterans Day, here are some overjoyed dogs greeting returning soldiers.

Fighting Dogs Get New Life

In July the largest dog fighting raid in US history took place, hundreds of dogs were rescued. Sadly 160 of the rescued dogs had to be put down due to illness, behavior, or injuries. The good news is that 120 of the dogs are now going to foster homes, and hopefully the remaining ones will get to do the same.

This is such a great story because usually all the dogs involved in dog fighting get put down, they’re never even given a chance. Maybe this is the foreshadowing of changes that are going to be put into place so the victim, the dog, isn’t the one punished for the perpetrator’s crime.

On this Veteran’s Day, let us also say “thank you “ to our dogs that serve our military veterans. Our vets return from combat suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), seizures, blindness, and missing limbs.

These dogs intuitively know when a vet suffering from PTSD is getting ready to have a traumatic flashback and can calm the vet and bring their attention back to the here and now. They can warn a vet suffering from a TBI when he/she is about to have a seizure so the vet can put him/herself in a safe place or lie down on the ground.

Veteran’s Helping Heroes provides funding to help train dogs for the American Vet Dog Program. It costs $50,000 for each dog. It takes two years to train a dog and the dog will retire after 8 or 9 years.

What a wonderful program to serve our vets! Happy Veteran’s Day

Remember military dogs on Veterans Day

Today, November 11, Veterans Day is a national holiday honoring veterans and the sacrifices they make in defense of the United States of America. WWI armistice was signed November 11, hence the date. Who among us is not grateful for the selfless acts of nameless soldiers who place their lives on the line in defense of this country?

But, how many of us remember the contribution given by military dogs trained to assist troops in combat? There are many memorials to military and war dogs throughout the country but how many of us know the selfless acts of bravery and courage performed by military dogs?

So, today as you honor the memory of all soldiers who defended our country, take a moment to thank all the military dogs who gave their lives in defense of the United States. It's the least they deserve.

I never had a pet of my own. Through my childhood, I observed my mother loving, feeding and caring for unwanted domestic animals like cats and dogs. She also loved and cared for a beautiful canary belonging to my other sisters. Caring as she cared for everyone and everything that came into our family, making sure that all knew that they were loved. I was so blessed!
