I heard this song when I was a little girl and my Dad told me it was about a dog (that probably drowned) and I bawled my eyes out! I still do!

The odd thing about sad songs is that they can be happy songs as well. That song that meant everything good with the old girlfriend can make you cry with the opening notes today.

Sometimes that sad song can indicate an upcoming hope, or desire to to climb out of that sad situation. I've always believed that without the sad stuff, we'd never appreciate the good stuff.

Everything ever created by man has been made so by some driven need he didn't have.
Or, to impress a girl.

Sad songs are the stuff that fuel our dreams to become reality.

Drishti

Drishti is a point of focus where the gaze rests during asana and meditation practice. Focusing on a drishti aids concentration, since it is easier to become distracted when the eyes are wandering all over the room. Each yoga pose has a specific drishti, which also aids in alignment.

Even though a drishti can be described as a fixed gaze, the eyes should always stay soft, never straining.

Examples: In Downward Facing Dog, the drishti is your navel.

KRISTOL HAS A PLAN....

Bill Kristol believes his long-time friend, John McCain, is having some trouble, but he devotes his New York Times column today to explaining that McCain still "has a chance" to "surge to victory."

In fact, Kristol has a two-pronged approach to helping the Republican ticket get on track.

Step One involves Sarah Palin.

McCain needs to liberate his running mate from the former Bush aides brought in to handle her --

I'm told McCain recently expressed unhappiness with his staff's handling of Palin

They're supposed to liberate Palin to go on the offensive as a combative conservative in the vice-presidential debate on Thursday

the notion of "liberating" Palin to begin a series of relentless attacks seems misguided. As Joe Klein noted, "I'd wonder about the shelf-life of Palin's efficacy as an attack dog, especially now that the American people have come to see her as the incredible -- as in not credible -- vice presidential choice that she is."

Stop labeling. It’s amazing how much we think we’re experiencing life, but we’re really just thinking about it. I want you to try a little exercise with me. Take a look at something around you. Maybe it’s a photo, a plant, or your keyboard. Our normal state of mind is to think about the object we’re looking at, to conceptualize it in our mind and place labels on it. Now look at the same object and don’t think about it. If this is difficult for you, that’s okay. Relax and just look. Let go. Notice a difference? That’s because when you’re not thinking about what you’re things, you’re actually experiencing life directly. The labels in our mind are simply abstractions, they’re not reality itself. Try doing this more often: when you’re in line at the grocery store, walking your dog, listening to music, etc. You’ll start to enjoy your experience much more.

By all accounts she was a vibrant 20 year old and loved by many. She is missed by her close knit family and friends. Her family is trying to raise $100,000 to renew extensive searching for her.

Christina Calayca has one of the widest, happiest smiles I have ever seen along with a twinkle in her eye that makes her whole face sparkle with life.

It is reported that she was going for a jog with a fire fighter friend, got tired and said she was turning back. She never made it back to the rugged campsite and what happened next continues to be a mystery. The park is so rugged that searchers who were covering the are were injured and a search dog also went missing. There are several drop offs in the hilly, rough terrain and the family was kept back from the search area because of the dangers.

A year after she went missing on August 6, 2007, her mother has peace within feeling that Christina is in heaven. Her friends live with the regrets of leaving her to jog alone, but no one has forgotten her and that beautiful smile.

Monday4 the Missing, Brenda Joan Allen Szabo

The 80's came and Brenda made an attempt to pull her life together, get clean from drugs, and enrolled in a community college while working as a dog grooomer. A prior violation of her probation landed her back in prison at Frontera State Prison..

Her daughter, Elizabeth Alldridge, has been on a quest to find her mother since she was 18, and her search has led her to find all of her siblings, but not Brenda Szabo, their mother. She combed adoption records and pulled together some of the pieces of a family that was disbanded before it had a chance. Elizabeth feels that when Brenda was released from Frontera she embarked on a new life and has not looked back, that she is out there somewhere.

Police were sent to Stalnaker's home, and after about three minutes Buddy is heard barking loudly when the officers arrived.

Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said Stalnaker spent two days in a hospital and recovered from the seizure.

"It's pretty incredible," Clark said. "Even the veteran dispatchers - they haven't heard of anything like this."

On two separate occasions last fall, the husband of the Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin boarded planes chartered by mining companies that want to dig for gold, zinc and lead in remote Alaska valleys.

Palin, a member of the United Steelworkers Local 4959, himself learned on the job. He began working in oil fields on Alaska's North Slope for BP Exploration Alaska in 1989, a year after he eloped with his high school sweetheart.

He took a leave from his position as a production operator at a Prudhoe Bay facility where oil is separated from water and natural gases when his wife became governor but returned six months later.

Todd Palin joined with state officials on the two mining trips, and the costs of his travel were disclosed by his wife as gifts in compliance with state ethics laws. The excursions coincide with a mini metals boom in Alaska fueled by high prices. Two new mines are scheduled to open in coming weeks and months, and four more are on the drawing board

clipper's remarks: Of course, we should teach our teenage children good judgement, if that is at all possible when it comes to the powerful instinctual urges belonging to all life, the drive to BEGET. Try telling a teeny bobber about love and responsibility. They'll look at you, the same way you look at a dog chasing its tail, bewilderment of such a stupidity lag.
But, for most parents, the teen "eye roll" just slides off their back, down to the floor where it can be easily stepped on.
But all sarcasm aside, teaching this program alone is not just block-headed, its outrageously dangerous. By not equipping our young with knowledge on self preservation, we neglect the most basic fact of life, the instinctive teachings of fundamental survival techniques. Go and watch some wild life with their young and you will see such training.

JUST TELLING OUR KIDS TO "DON'T DO IT" DOES NOT WORK!

Guess what folks, teaching abstinence-only to young adolescent teens fails in all the studies except the ones conducted by the abstinence-only advocates. Isn't that a shocker? Well, to anyone with a few brain cells, that was a given. From the very beginning, when Bush and his followers rejoiced and couldn't wait to hit us over the head with their abstinence-ONLY asinine program.
