Yet this should hardly be read as an indication that diet can play no part in either helping or harming those suffering from the disorder.

Clip Source: www.myfibro.com

The best advice is to remember that you are what you eat, according to the old saying, and that food choices influence how you feel. Maintaining a healthy, well-balanced diet full of plenty of fruit and vegetables and low in the likes of saturated fat will make you feel better, physically and mentally, as well as help you to avoid developing any other health problems. It may or may not alleviate any of your symptoms, but it certainly won't make them any worse. The same can not be said for an unhealthy diet, especially one in which you eat foods that can exacerbate symptoms.

Here are some suggested dietary choices, but keep in mind that these are suggestions culled from a variety of sources with little to no clinical evidence supporting them at best, many are anecdotal. The most prudent advice is to find out what works best for you and stick with that.

Home

What is Fibromyalgia?

Cause

Symptoms

Diagnosis

Pain

Fatigue

Treatment

jimmy123
clipper's remarks: As a recognized eating disorder, bulimia nervosa (BN) is in its infancy, having only come under medical and psychological scrutiny in 1979 . According to the National Eating Disorders Association , bulimia nervosa is “characterized by a cycle of bingeing and compensatory behaviors such as self-induced vomiting designed to undo or compensate for the effects of binge eating.”

Although most people with bulimia nervosa can maintain a normal weight, the disorder is brutal, exerting a tremendous strain on virtually every major system and organ in the human body. The strain bulimia nervosa puts on one’s mental health can also be ferocious, inciting intense feelings of depression, guilt, disgust and shame .

Clip Source: www.eatingdisordersonline.com

Bulimia Nervosa'’s Patient Population is startling:

Sex: The overwhelming majority (92-98%) of sufferers are female

Prevalence and mean onset: It affects 1-2% of the young female population, typically at the mean age of 18.

Geographic: According to Dr. Megan Moreno MSEd, bulimia “is virtually nonexistent in non-industrialized countries … it is found solely in societies in which a high cultural value is placed upon slim-ness.”

So why do some adolescents develop bulimia nervosa? Unlike a virus, experts suspect bulimia nervosa is the result of a variety of psychological, cultural, familial and biological causes intertwining in the sufferer. Additionally, some studies indicate that people who take part in extracurricular social activities that require their bodies to be on frequent display for others—like cheerleading, running, swimming—may be substantially more susceptible to developing these kinds of eating disorders.

The issue kicked up so much dust that members of the American Psychiatric Association felt compelled to get together and vote on the matter in June of 2007:

Clip Source: www.myaddiction.com

“The APA defines mental disorders in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Since the current edition, DSM-IV-TR, does not list “video game addiction,” the APA does not consider “video game addiction” to be a mental disorder at this time. If the science warrants it, this proposed disorder will be considered for inclusion in DSM-V, which is due to be published in 2012.”

A 2007 Harris poll reported that in the US 8.5% of youth gamers (ages 8 to 18) “can be classified as pathological or clinically ‘addicted’ to playing video games” while another 23% say they have “felt addicted” to video games.

As the Army Times reported last month, a battle-hardened “homeland” brigade is now “going domestic” after spending time in Iraq. It appears this illegal deployment (under Posse Comitatus) is designed to respond to “public disorder” as the economy is deliberately and cynically dismantled at the behest of our rulers.

Clip Source: blog.puppetgov.com

In House debate on the banker “rescue” bill, Rep. Brad Sherman told his fellow Congress critters the government will declare martial law and the stock market will drop 3,000 points if the bill is not passed. “The panic-mongers were to the point of telling people the market would drop 3,000 points and there would be martial law,” said Sherman.

Sherman’s comment was not in the same context as a comment issued by Rep. Deficits Disorder

clipped by: merrie
clipper's remarks: The temporary tax measures in place during the war were repealed and, by the end of the 19th century, the debt had been reduced to $1.2 billion, less than half of its 1865 level.

Given the vast expansion of U.S. territory and the wars the country fought to create and then hold together the United States, this does not seem a large debt level. In fact, in its first 110 years of history, the United States had shown its ability to fund expansion while reducing debt over time. And this was accomplished without an income tax. In fact, in 1869 and again in 1895, the Supreme Court ruled federal income taxes unconstitutional.

The story was quite different in the 20th century. By the end of World War I, the national debt had risen to $26 billion. Even though the debt level had been reduced over the next decade, the Great Depression caused further deficit spending and FDR's New Deal tripled debt levels up to $72 billion.
In other words, the national debt is growing exponentially.

Clip Source: www.lewrockwell.com

In
Madison's term of office, the ill-fated War of 1812 ran the national
debt up to $127 million by 1816. Monroe and John Quincy Adams were
both able to reduce the debt during their terms of office and by
1829 the debt had fallen to $58 million. And then, during Andrew
Jackson's presidency, the national debt was entirely paid off. For
the first time in its history (and the last) the United States had
              no national debt.

Over
the next decade, the country ran up $46 million in new debt and
by 1848 it rose to $63 million. However, in all fairness, one advantage
of this was that the Mexican War resulted in U.S. expansion all
the way to the Pacific and the acquisition of the entire southwest
and California. Under the Pierce administration, the debt was paid
down to $28 million; but it never got that low again.

The

times higher than in had been in 1857. Per capita debt in 1860 was
$2 per capita; at the end of 1865, it was $75.

Tags: national debt levels, deficit spending, federal income tax

<clipSource>http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig4/wiggin-addison2.html</clipSource>

Brain's Hub of Fear Found

clipped by: Silkweaver
clipper's remarks: The results of the study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, Burroughs Wellcome Fund, the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience and the Yerkes Center, are detailed in the October issue of the journal Nature Neuroscience.

The genetically engineered virus was injected into the amygdala of the mice by Emory graduate student Kimberly Maguschak. The amygdala is a part of the brain thought to be important for forming memories of emotionally charged events.

"We found that after beta-catenin is taken out, the mice can still learn to fear the shocks," Maguschak said. "But two days later, their fear doesn't seem to be retained because they spend half as much time freezing in response to the tone."

So it appears that beta-catenin is turned on in the amygdala to help in signaling during the learning process, Maguschak said.

Clip Source: www.livescience.com

Scientists may have found the glue that keeps fearful memories stuck in the brain, a discovery that could be useful in new treatments for Alzheimer's disease and post-traumatic stress disorder.
