November 12, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports former boxer Mike Tyson was arrested after an airport scuffle.

Tyson was arrested after a scuffle with a photographer at the Los Angeles International Airport according to police. The incident occurred when the photographer attempted to take a picture of Tyson on Wednesday in the United Airlines terminal according to Sgt. Jim Holcomb.

In one reported version of the incident the photographer was said to have struck Tyson to get a reaction, and in another, the photographer stated that Tyson punched him in the face and tried to remove the film from the camera. Obviously, Los Angeles criminal defense attorneys want this case.

Dog back after a year MIA in Afghanistan

(CNN) -- An Australian special forces dog has been found alive and well more than a year after going missing in action in Afghanistan.

Explosives detection dog Sabi was recovered by a U.S. soldier who found her wandering near an isolated patrol base in the desolate southern province of Oruzgan last week, according to the Australian Government Department of Defense.

John, the U.S. soldier, who was identified only by first name, knew his Australian counterparts were missing an explosive detection dog. He knew immediately that Sabi was not a stray.

When she disappeared, the black Labrador was nearing the end of her second tour of duty in Afghanistan. She went missing in September 2008 when insurgents ambushed a combined Australian, U.S. and Afghan army convoy. Nine Australian soldiers, including Sabi's handler, were wounded during the gunbattle.

John Limbert, a veteran U.S. diplomat and former hostage held in Iran for 444 days, has reportedly been appointed as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iran in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.

Limbert will be involved in negotiations with Iran, along with under secretary of state for political affairs, William Burns…Limbert, a career diplomat, is a fluent Persian speaker who has published several books on Iran including a recent one on how to engage the Islamic Republic, titled “Negotiating with Iran: Wrestling the Ghosts of History.”

clipper's remarks: Perhaps what’s likely to occur, writes the Chron, is a court-martial under Article 2 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, to punish offenses allegedly committed by a man wearing a U.S. military uniform against other military personnel on a military base. The Army’s Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for recommending charges, prompting the military equivalent of a grand jury, known as an Article 32 hearing, where both prosecutors and defense can present evidence.

Those results would be reviewed by the base commander, who would decide whether to convene a court-martial. The 12-person jury would be composed of officers higher in rank than Hasan " lieutenant colonels and above.

The future indeed looks grim for Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the accused Fort Hood gunman, who last week opened fire in a processing center on the base, killing 13. Hasan was injured by gunfire, but remains alive and under heavy guard at Fort Sam Houston. That means, of course, Hasan will presumably be prosecuted for his actions.

But what will the legal proceedings look like for Hasan? The Houston Chronicle attempts to answer the question in a story out Monday.

A key question concerning Hasan’s fate hinges on whether civilian prosecutors conclude he was part of a terrorist plot that might justify moving his case into the federal criminal courts under U.S. anti-terrorism laws. If prosecutors, on the other hand, determine that Hasan acted alone, he could face the death penalty in a military court-martial.

Remember military dogs on Veterans Day

Today, November 11, Veterans Day is a national holiday honoring veterans and the sacrifices they make in defense of the United States of America. WWI armistice was signed November 11, hence the date. Who among us is not grateful for the selfless acts of nameless soldiers who place their lives on the line in defense of this country?

But, how many of us remember the contribution given by military dogs trained to assist troops in combat? There are many memorials to military and war dogs throughout the country but how many of us know the selfless acts of bravery and courage performed by military dogs?

So, today as you honor the memory of all soldiers who defended our country, take a moment to thank all the military dogs who gave their lives in defense of the United States. It's the least they deserve.

As NFL Power Rankings Week 10 are finalized, In Denver, the game was taking place with the cold weather but Pittsburgh already used to that and only thing that they had was the altitude adjustment. It kept out one of Pittsburgh’s starters on defense and Steelers players changed that. That let Denver drive and score a field goal right out of the gate.

But for Pittsburgh, they are firing on all ways and it looks like they are fighting for the super bowl champions again.

Time Magazine reporter Tim McGirk has posited the theory that Nidal Hasan --- who attended a radical mosque with the 9-11 hijackers, told colleagues that infidels should have their throats cut, and screamed "Allahu Akbar" as he killed 13 people --- was suffering from "secondary trauma," a sort of "contact PTSD," where hearing stories from combat soldiers who suffered from PTSD drove him to commit mass murder. Because it couldn't possibly have been Islamic jihad, and the media will grasp at any straw to deny that. possibility.

BTW, here's yet another clue the MSM will ignore. Hasan's business card contains the notation "SoA" meaning "Soldier of Allah." Will they still claim this guy just needed a vacation?

The key to Dave’s airbag protection that differs from Textron’s is that it detects the IED blast light, which arrives at the vehicle well before the blast does and gives the system time to deploy the airbags before the blast reaches the vehicle. I know that Israeli and some US so-called “active protection” systems use radar to detect the object coming towards it, but with Dave’s system, the detection is projectile agnostic since it detects the light of detonation (or launch?) and deploys at the speed of light (with fiber optics).
