clipper's remarks: Sick. We saw it again recently AGAIN with the passing of Sen. Kennedy. His litany of indiscretions towards women was excused and accepted. Gross. Do libs think no one notices this hypocrisy? Hells bells, talk about idiocy and stupidity of epic proportion.

They make this shit up about Limbaugh. They make it up! Yet their own damn party is out there in the open doing it in front of our very eyes. Sick. Gross.

Let's have some fun and imagine the reaction of the media and womans groups had Letterman's activities been committed by Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh. Lawsuits and resignations would be in order.

Once again the woman's movement in this country has been exposed for the fraud it is. They have nothing to with the rights and victimization of woman. Only if the perpetrator is not of the liberal persuasion.

We saw this with the response of the woman's movement to Monica Lewinsky, Juanita Broderick, Paula Jones and Kathleen Wiley to their complaints regarding the actions of President Clinton.

But even if Dave did no harm to his girlfriends, he injured the rest of the staff by creating a sense that favoritism prevailed. To grant a subordinate access, opportunities and perhaps influence for nonprofessional reasons, particularly with a boss as aloof as Dave, can demoralize all who work for him. When, for example, Dave puts Stephanie Birkitt on camera, he gives her a professional opportunity other staff members crave. And, as a former colleague remarked to me, since CBS ultimately finances the show and hence paid for Birkitt’s appearances, in a way it subsidized Dave’s love life. The nicest gift I ever got from a network was a jacket with the show’s name on the back.
This is worse still for the strikingly small number of women who have written for the show.
Seeing other women benefit from sexual favoritism disheartens those rare women who wrote for the show and can discourage others from applying.

(Newser) – Stephanie Birkitt is getting the most attention, but she's not be the only staffer David Letterman seduced—not by a long shot, says accused extortionist Robert Halderman. Halderman puts the figure at “six or seven,” a friend tells the New York Daily News. “He would fly them out on a chartered plane to the Indy 500 and put them up in five-star hotels.”

Regardless of the number the Late Show host slept with, “to say that he preyed upon women is absurd,” a former staffer says. In other Letterman news, a source close to his wife Regina Lasko says Lasko was the one who forced the comic to apologize a second time on Monday. The second statement “wasn’t something Dave wanted to do at all,” the source tells Fox News. “He wanted the whole thing to blow over.”

When Burkitt uttered those words during a chat with Entertainment Weekly, no one had a clue just how tight of a rapport her and her boss at The Late Show with David Letterman had developed.

That makes for an interesting examination of her words from 2002, as Stephanie was asked about the backstage behavior of this popular talk show host:

On whether Letterman is a grouch in real lie: He’s not that way at all. He’s the best boss I’ve ever had.

On typical interaction with Letterman backstage: One time we had a bunch of pizzas in the office. There were 12 pieces left, and Dave said, ”I’ll give you $300 if you can eat it all.” I managed to eat only nine slices, [but] he was gracious enough to pay me $20 per slice, even the slices I’d eaten before.

It’s now public knowledge that David Letterman carried on an affair with a female staffer. The talk show host himself admitted this last night.

To her horror, that employee has now been identified as Stephanie Birkitt.

Considered one of Dave’s most trusted staffers, Birkitt earned a degree from Wake Forest University in 1997; worked at 48 Hours upon graduation (where she first met Letterman’s alleged extortioner, Robert Halderman); and joined the The Late Show months later.

She actually appeared on air at times, most notably in sketches such as“ Know Your Current Events,” as seen below. Fast forward to the 3:15 mark to watch Birkitt (referred to as “Vicki) interact with Dave and an audience member:

ABC News' Jan Simmonds Reports: "I screwed up," Sen. John McCain told David Letterman this afternoon when discussing the subject of his last minute "Late Show" cancellation a few weeks ago.

When McCain walked out to his seat on the show, Letterman jokingly asked, "Can you stay?" McCain jokingly replied that he had asked his son, who is serving overseas, if he could send over his helmet and flap jacket, but it "didn't arrive on time.

"I screwed up," McCain said. "Look at all the conversation I gave you."

Letterman, not satisfied, asked McCain about why he didn't go right back to Washington like he said. Again McCain implored, "I screwed up. It's only Dave Letterman, there is only a few million people who will be watching."

When Letterman asked if Palin was ready to become president if events forced that to occur, McCain emphatically answered, "yes."

After weeks of making McCain the butt of jokes for not appearing on his program, the two seemed to get along quite well.

Doesn't matter that John McCain promised to appear on David Letterman's CBS show Thursday, as a makeup for blowing him off earlier. Dave continued his ongoing pounding of McCain -- and Sarah Palin -- on his show Monday. It's like Dave doesn't believe McCain will show.

From the monologue:

"And the third presidential debate is Wednesday night. John McCain says he's going to win. John McCain is going to win the third presidential debate. Of course, he also told Custer the surge was working."

"But it's going to be a big week for John McCain. Don't kid yourself. Today and tomorrow he'll be campaigning. Wednesday is the debate. And then on Thursday, he cancels on me again."

In the middle of the taping Dave got word that McCain was, in fact just down the street being interviewed by Katie Couric. Dave even cut over to the live video of the interview, and said, "Hey Senator, can I give you a ride home?"

Earlier in the show, Dave kept saying, "You don't suspend your campaign. This doesn't smell right. This isn't the way a tested hero behaves." And he joked: "I think someone's putting something in his metamucil."

"He can't run the campaign because the economy is cratering? Fine, put in your second string quarterback, Sarah Palin. Where is she?"

"What are you going to do if you're elected and things get tough? Suspend being president? We've got a guy like that now!"
